Had a terrific stay in Washington with our base being the Melrose Georgetown Hotel. Well located in Washington and our stay was made even more special by the service we were given by Sofiane every morning for breakfast.

Our family stayed at the Melrose for 4 days during a cold winter spell in Washington. The highlight of our stay was without question the breakfasts each morning hosted by Sofiane. He regularly went out of his way to accommodate my family each day and made us fell like we were the only guests in the hotel. I would recommend the hotel and restaurant… Read more

The Melrose restaurant is also excellent; we always have breakfast there, and this year had one dinner there, which was wonderful for all of us! The rooms are good, but you might want to make sure you get the bed you want. (This year I didn't pay attention during booking.) All rooms are large, with a bath/closet area as well as the bedroom. The Melrose has been a good choice for our group, and this year was as good as ever! Read less

Overall this property is a mixed bag of comfort and service. We enjoyed the cleanliness of the property, the rooms were well appointed, but missing ice buckets and ice machines. Housekeeping did not replensih coffee or order forms for us. The location is not exactly Georgetown, they say a block, but its more than a block. More like a half a mile. Check in was disjointed, our room not ready, a promise of a call that never came when the room would be ready to occupy. Our room was well appointed, comfortable and well decorated. Very comfortable beds. Eclectic and modern furnishings, comfortable and clean. The room service was a mixed bag, fast service, really great food but they could not get a single order right, we called multiple times to get items thaty were ordered but not delivered. Very responsive and quick to correct but lack of quality controls of food going out the door it ruined the experience a bit. Also be fore-warned, this hotel is on the main drag for the fire department to get to Georgetown and they USE their sirens, all night long. Last night alone, 10 trips under our window with an engine and ambulance responding to points west. I would not stay here again, not because its awful but because it's like death by a thousand paper cuts. Small but nagging things need the hotels attention. Read less
