Phoenix Park Hotel

Washington DC, USA

The hotel

Its stately setting on Capitol Hill is just the start of the ‘grandeur’ you can expect at Phoenix Park Hotel. An historic property that’s been treated to a $8 million makeover, it has all the sharp styling you’d expect from a hotel right at the heart of this modern metropolis, just a block from Union Station and a stroll from the top sights and shopping. The splendour starts the minute you step inside, with its elegant lobby dressed in mossy greens, uplifting blues, and the sparkle of its shimmering floor, chandeliers, and gold-daubed sweeping staircase. The dining here is more rousing than refined though – with its snug Irish pub, The Dubliner, outfitted with bottle-green walls and emerald leather bar stools, and bringing you all the classics, including fish and chips, Irish Beef Stew, Guinness, and even the odd Irish ‘jig’.

The hotel is a great location! The rooms are very nice. But the BEST PART is Janice at the front desk. Janice is sweet and she will go out of her way to make your stay better. We arrived at 11 am, from a red eye flight, clearly exhausted and well before 4 pm check-in time. She offered early check-in. She also noticed we were two parties, 2 separate rooms and out of her own kindness offered us adjacent rooms. She anticipated our needs so well without us needing to ask. Janice is just very hospitable and was the perfect person to be greeted by in DC. Thank you Janice! Read less

I had the privilege of working with Janice Washington, the hotel's Sales and Catering Coordinator, for an event and she was absolutely terrific. So helpful, nice and patient as I navigated my event logistics. (Someone deserves a raise!) And the hotel is spectacular. 15/10 recommend!!!

This is my second time staying here. Love having the Dubliner downstairs. Very clean room and cleaning and front desk staff very friendly. Some rooms are larger than others so I would inquire at check in. There is some noise from the bar next door, so I would ask for a room on a higher floor if needed. Self-serve coffee on second floor. Will stay… Read more

At first we were a little skeptical about this place it sounded too good to be true. But the hotel was extremely clean and it is in a perfect location one block away from union station which has the Amtrak railroad and metro. The room was extremely clean also yes they are a little small but it really makes up in cleanliness. Also plus for me was there was no carpet it was hard wood floor. Everything was extremely close to get to from walking distance. And what really made this stay at this hotel extremely comforting was especially the staff. From the doorman always greeting us. To the front desk people being very polite. I also have to give a special thank you to the front Desk lady named Janice. She was not only extremely helpful but very professional. From the minute we walked into the hotel she was awesome. Without even asking she informed us everything about the hotel, breakfast at the downstairs restaurant to the free coffee on the second floor. She took her time to explain every detail and made the experience very personable. It’s people like this that employers half to know about their staff that go above and beyond to make customers feel at home every time they come into that establishment. And believe me she is one of those golden employee’s that help make the customers feel at home. Please let her know that we say ,Thank you again Janice for going above and beyond and please Keep up the great work. Read less

It was indeed the best weekend ever! My family and I stayed at the Congressional Suite, and I have to say, the suite was gorgeous and marvelous, just lovely! You would come to appreciate both sunsets and sunrises from the view of the suite and makes you love the coffee even more from their wonderful Coffee Machine on their 2nd Floor Coffee Lounge. The suite was beautifully designed and very carefully maintained--it was spotless! They must have an amazing Housekeeping Department! The check-in was quick and easy, just the right conversation to make someone feel at ease and welcomed like family. The Front Desk greeted and welcomed us, and we felt right at home immediately! The Bellman too was sincere and kind, ready to lend a hand with our luggage and parking. We had my husband's pre-Birthday dinner at their restaurant, the Dubliner and it was another big win! The Crab Cake and Shepherd's pie was so delicious, matched with their famous Irish Coffee and Guinness Beer! Just the perfect Birthday treat for Hubby! Everyone should just try these Irish treats! I would say, it was an amazing stay! My family has found our 2nd home in DC, definitely the Best Hotel there is! Read less
