Phoenix Park Hotel

Washington DC, USA

The hotel

Its stately setting on Capitol Hill is just the start of the ‘grandeur’ you can expect at Phoenix Park Hotel. An historic property that’s been treated to a $8 million makeover, it has all the sharp styling you’d expect from a hotel right at the heart of this modern metropolis, just a block from Union Station and a stroll from the top sights and shopping. The splendour starts the minute you step inside, with its elegant lobby dressed in mossy greens, uplifting blues, and the sparkle of its shimmering floor, chandeliers, and gold-daubed sweeping staircase. The dining here is more rousing than refined though – with its snug Irish pub, The Dubliner, outfitted with bottle-green walls and emerald leather bar stools, and bringing you all the classics, including fish and chips, Irish Beef Stew, Guinness, and even the odd Irish ‘jig’.

The hotel is quite small by US standards but the building has been recently renovated and is very well kept. The staff are the stars here. Friendly greetings from the desk coming and going, advice, speedy service. Really makes your stay so much pleasanter. Would definitely make this my regular hotel in DC as it's close to the train station as well. The floor in the room was vinyl plank not carpet which is great for clean freaks like me. The bed was very comfortably. Read less

In this day and time where quick-fast-and in a hurry seems to be what many think customer service is, this hotel "get's it"! Service is prompt, but courteous; thorough and gracious. They do an awesome job of anticipating your needs and all requests are met with a "can do and will do attitude". My family holiday this year was made super special because we chose to stay at Phoenix Park and it was a we will return each year for as long as they will allow us to. I am so pleased that this hotel has now become a part of our family tradition. Thank you immensely team Phoenix Park for the being service champions and for taking such good care of my family! Can’t praise this hotel enough. We weren’t sure what to expect because it’s a historic building, and that sometimes means you sacrifice some of the creature comforts. Can’t praise this hotel enough. We weren’t sure what to expect because it’s a historic building, and that sometimes means you sacrifice some of the creature comforts. That was definitely not the case with the Phoenix Park. Our family of three stayed in one of the penthouse suites, and it was both beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Also, every single member of the hotel staff was so friendly and accommodating, from the front desk and bellmen to the waitstaff in the Dubliner, the Irish restaurant and bar attached to the hotel. And we heartily enjoyed the live Irish music in the bar Saturday night. Also, excellent location just steps from Union Station. We’ll be sending our friends here for sure! Read less

The location is great and well connected to the public transport system. One minus point for the connected Irish Pub/Restaurant which we tried for Dinner. Friendly staff but the food & drinks weren't comparable to the real Irish deal ;) Read less
