Its stately setting on Capitol Hill is just the start of the ‘grandeur’ you can expect at Phoenix Park Hotel. A historic property that’s been treated to an $8 million makeover, this has all the sharp styling you’d expect from a hotel right at the heart of this modern metropolis, just a block from Union Station and a stroll from the top sights and shopping. The splendour starts the minute you step inside, with its elegant lobby dressed in mossy greens, uplifting blues, and the sparkle of its shimmering floor, chandeliers, and gold-daubed sweeping staircase. The dining here is more rousing than refined though – with its snug Irish pub, The Dubliner, outfitted with bottle-green walls and emerald leather bar stools, and bringing you all the classics, including fish and chips, Irish Beef Stew, Guinness, and even the odd Irish ‘jig’.

Unlike many cities around the world where hotels in train station neighborhoods are dubious at best, Phoenix Park is a beautifully restored and maintained historic property with excellent service and facilities. Union Station with its many transport options is a stone’s throw away. The Capitol and beginning of the mall and its museums are a short, safe walk. Staff are both efficient and friendly, all is spotlessly clean, beds are comfortable, linens and towels high quality, climate control and hot water as it should be. A special plus is the second floor complimentary coffee lounge, including good espresso. Highly recommended.

We found our new favorite hotel!! This place is a hidden gem. We stayed at another hotel the two previous nights and my kids were so sad to leave the breakfast buffet there. However, AS SOON as we checked into this hotel - they were thrilled!! The front desk staff was friendly, welcoming and great with the kids. Our room was immaculate, smelled amazing, and then there were the beds!!! The beds and linens were the comfiest we've ever experienced at a hotel. The hot chocolate machine on 2nd floor was a hit, the robes were great, and the shower was amazing!! We did not love the loud intermittent fan noise, but found once we ran it on fan mode (constantly on) it was great white noise., We had a Capitol tour the next morning and the Corner Bakery was right next door, and so convenient. It was an easy walk to the Visitor's Center. I'm pretty sure we found our new favorite hotel in the District, and we'll for sure be back!!

I like small hotels and this one had an old-world cozy quality that I enjoyed. It also has a lounge on the second floor with good Coffee machines, which is wonderful to just pop over in the morning and get your first cup. Clean attractively designed room and good size bathroom and shower. Two plastic water bottles left in the room are usually complimentary in other hotels, here they were asking $5. each. When I asked for a map of the area, they did not have one. Most hotels offer maps to show your location and the area. I was told they had been discontinued. One front desk attendant made the effort to search and the next day he presented us with the map. Very nice of him. The hotel has the Dubliner Restaurant, a well-known bar, and eatery in DC. The location of the hotel is not far from the center and one block from the train station.

Overall good location .. rooms are fine but small

Good location for capitol hill . The rooms are bijou but fine . Coffee station on the 2nd floor makes up for no coffee facilities in room … but is a bit of a pain . I had breakfast in the Dubliner … don’t bother … very slow, not friendly at all… go to corner bakery instead .
