Phoenix Park Hotel

Washington DC, USA

The hotel

Its stately setting on Capitol Hill is just the start of the ‘grandeur’ you can expect at Phoenix Park Hotel. An historic property that’s been treated to a $8 million makeover, it has all the sharp styling you’d expect from a hotel right at the heart of this modern metropolis, just a block from Union Station and a stroll from the top sights and shopping. The splendour starts the minute you step inside, with its elegant lobby dressed in mossy greens, uplifting blues, and the sparkle of its shimmering floor, chandeliers, and gold-daubed sweeping staircase. The dining here is more rousing than refined though – with its snug Irish pub, The Dubliner, outfitted with bottle-green walls and emerald leather bar stools, and bringing you all the classics, including fish and chips, Irish Beef Stew, Guinness, and even the odd Irish ‘jig’.

This hotel has the best staff that we have never encountered in many hotel stays around the world. They are extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is lovely--great architecture, wonderful beds, and the location is amazing--very close to Union Station, the Metro, the Circulator Bus and view of the Capitol. We enjoyed the Dubliner Restaurant and its music. We look forward to returning to DC and will definitely stay at the Phoenix Park hotel. Read less

This felt like a very upscale hotel for which the rate was very reasonable. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. My room was very clean. The rooms are not very big, which does not matter to me, but may to some. The building has the charm of an "old" building but has been updated and the décor and amenities are modern. I ate twice at the hotel restaurant, the Dubliner - it gets very packed in the evenings. The food was good. Read less

Very convenient location for a visit to DC, right across from Union Station and with a great view out the front door of the Capitol building. Nice renovation inside; rooms are a little on the smaller side but not cramped . Very comfortable bed. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Definitely will stay here again.
