Phoenix Park Hotel

Washington DC, USA

The hotel

Its stately setting on Capitol Hill is just the start of the ‘grandeur’ you can expect at Phoenix Park Hotel. An historic property that’s been treated to a $8 million makeover, it has all the sharp styling you’d expect from a hotel right at the heart of this modern metropolis, just a block from Union Station and a stroll from the top sights and shopping. The splendour starts the minute you step inside, with its elegant lobby dressed in mossy greens, uplifting blues, and the sparkle of its shimmering floor, chandeliers, and gold-daubed sweeping staircase. The dining here is more rousing than refined though – with its snug Irish pub, The Dubliner, outfitted with bottle-green walls and emerald leather bar stools, and bringing you all the classics, including fish and chips, Irish Beef Stew, Guinness, and even the odd Irish ‘jig’.

The location of the hotel was perfect for our group making Hill visits. The food was great, nice to have a pub attached to the hotel. Catered food was delicious and plentiful. Gilda and Roberto did a great job serving the food. Archie was a great bartender for our reception, anticipated our guest's needs/wants. All in all, this was a great event for our group. We hope to return in the future! Thank you PPH team! Read less

I had made a non-refundable reservation to visit my daughter at college in mid-April. With her institution shutting down due to the coronavirus, those plans were canceled, and we were in the position of immediately traveling to DC to pack up my daughter's belongings. I called the hotel and they agreed to let me change my reservation. However, I had to contact Orbitz to make the change. Unfortunately, Orbitz was having "technical issues" and I could not get through at all. The next morning, I sent an email to the hotel explaining my dilemma while sitting on the plane, waiting for take off. We arrived in DC and shortly thereafter, Derrick the Asst. GM called. He told us to come to the hotel and we would "figure it out later." A little while later, Orbitz contacted me, saying that the change was ok. Apparently, Derrick had gone out of his way to contact them on my behalf. This was outstanding, highly responsive customer service. The hotel was nice too! The room was a little small, but clean, well maintained and the beds were very comfortable. We ate at two nice restaurants for dinner that were about a 10 minute walk away. Corner Bakery shop on same block for breakfast. The hotel was a short walk from the Capitol, Supreme court, China Town. Considering the circumstances, we had a nice visit. Plan on returning when visiting our daughter next year.... Read less

The Hotel will not refund the money to me for my stay and I've reached out the the District Manager Derrick Stickland twice now and no response. Very unprofessional behavior and extremely poor customer service. When I am able to actually go on my trip I will be sure to stay away from this hotel. All they care about is taking money. I lost almost $500.00. Read less
