Hotel itself was in generally good condition but the shady practice of charging a hidden resort fee, when really no additional amenities were available is absolutely ridiculous. I prepaid for my room and provided a card for incidentals upon check in. When I checked out, the clerk literally said, “Ok you’re good to go”. I was provided no printed receipt or emailed one which was fine because I had prepaid for the room and not charged anything to it so I assumed my card I placed for incidentals would not be charged. When I arrived home I saw a charge from the hotel for $57. I disputed it with Amex since I charged nothing to the room and was not informed of any additional charges, nor received any receipt for such charges. Thompson DC claimed that it was for a resort fee (that I was not informed about) and the fee included a variety of amenities. Well due to “COVID” nearly none of those amenities were available. I couldn’t even order a meal since their restaurant and room service was closed indefinitely “due to COVID”. The minibar was cleaned out “due to COVID” and not even a single bottle of water provided in the room. (Normally you at least get a bottle of water in the room when they are charging a $25/night resort fee.) And the funny thing is that they are saving significant money by only cleaning the rooms every four days instead of daily, “due to Covid”. I think it’s outrageous that they sneak a resort fee charge on your card when there was literally almost no additional amenities/services available and saving significant operating costs by limiting housekeeping to every 4 days and leaving trash bags in the room for you to put your own garbage out. I will never stay at any of their properties in the future nor recommend them to any colleagues or family. And they could have done the right thing and just refunded me the $57 but they fought it Three Times with Amex to keep it! Hope you guys enjoy that $57! You obviously need it more than I do. Most comfortable bed I’ve found in a hotel. Also appreciated the spaciousness of the bathroom. For our purposes the location couldn’t have been any better. Great nearby restaurants and parks. I would definitely recommend.

We stayed at the Thompson with multiple family members for a family gathering. The staff is friendly and safety conscious. The needs for young children were happily taken care of as the needs arose. The rooms are beautiful and pristine. We enjoyed a relaxing stay, close to shops and great restaurants!

This hotel is beautiful and the service is absolutely amazing. We have stayed at many hotels in the DC area and this is one of my favorites! Great views of National Park. Several restaurants within walking distance. The service feels personal and inviting. Also, love the signature scent in the lobby!
