Pro's: - Very clean, modern. - Excellent front desk staff. - Great location in the heart of Navy Yard neighborhood. - I tried it due to a Hyatt promotion. Minor drawbacks: - My room had no desk or chair! Fine if I was just spending the night, yet not great for business work. For the prices they charge, that seems like a bit of a disappointment. - The annoying, somewhat deceptive "destination fee", so pay attention to your total when booking. It's there, just not super obvious. There's really no excuse for not simply advertising the cost of the room as a single charge, up front. Other notes: - Hotel offers only valet parking, $60/night. One of the three nights, they had some staffing or miscues that led to slow recovery of the car in the AM. Other two mornings went great. It was a fine stay. Read less

I wound up choosing the hotel for my trip despite its distance from the event I was attending mainly due to cost (and a rebate I got thanks to my Amex Platinum card) and a side-effect being near the baseball stadium. I wound up choosing the hotel for my trip despite its distance from the event I was attending mainly due to cost (and a rebate I got thanks to my Amex Platinum card) and a side-effect being near the baseball stadium. Now, I got in very late due to the time of my flight, but the front desk was very friendly and helped me get settled in quickly. I also found out then that thanks to the Amex card I had some added benefits such as complimentary breakfast and a tab at the bar & restaurant (which I never got to use, but I bet others would gladly take advantage of that). Also the "Destination Fee" you pay as part of the room has other added benefits that I used, but not sure if those who would prefer these types of hotels would actually find the same value. Anyways, the hotel botique-ness in this case was giving off a vintage vibe, and it certainly succeeds in that respect. Entering the room, it was just as pictured - and very roomy (I did get a larger one). I had a nice seating area, you had a vintage looking clock and a small desk/writing area which was neat appearance-wise but I'm not sure if users would actually use it - but you could. One thing I've noticed about these types of hotels is that noise does carry a bit more from the outside in, which doesn't bother me, but might bother someone else. The bathroom was really nice, with a walk-in shower (no doors actually), and I would actually prefer those, but the one negative I experienced immediately was that in taking a shower, the water would splash out of the shower and onto the bathroom floor. I was able to mitigate it after the first instance, but I think what that tells me is that those types of showers are better when you have a true rainfall shower, which at least for me I've only ever seen in Europe. Even still, it had neat touches like a mirror in the shower, and like I said, I like the walk-in shower. The bed was very nice, sufficiently large enough (but perhaps? slightly smaller length-wise than other hotels I've stayed at?). There were enough plugs and stuff for my electronics and such, and the TV allows you to Chromecast to it, which is neat since as mentioned before I don't really watch TV anymore. So overall, it was great value for what *I* particularly paid for it, though admittedly some perks like the breakfast (which was really tasty) I may not have actually had if I had to actually pay for it. I think it does exactly what it sets out to do in terms of the atmosphere, and the rooms were very pleasant to be in. Assuming I get a similar price for the hotel I would gladly stay here again. However, I'm concerned about the open access to the hotel floors, including the workout area. As a woman traveling with my young daughter, this lack of security makes me feel uneasy. One night, when we returned to the hotel at 2 am, I noticed that we didn't need our key card to access the hotel entrance or the elevator. The lack of security in the elevator was particularly alarming to me. In today's world, where safety is paramount, knowing that anyone could be waiting for you when the elevator doors open is unsettling. I believe the hotel has the necessary hardware to implement stricter security measures, so I'm unsure why they haven't done so. Read less

Great rooms, hotel staff top notch, great showers. Upon check out each of our 3 rooms had a $30 resort fee. Questioned person in charge at check out re: the purpose of charge and answer was absurd (2 bottles of water, coffee maker in room coupon for discount at spa). They'd be better just to say it an added charge because we can. The restaurant… Read more

There was also no desk, although the corner room was supposed to have one. There was also only one seat in the double room. The room was absolutely overpriced. The housekeeping was unreliable and did not turn up every day. A stain on the floor, which was already there when we moved in, was not cleaned up all week. Overall, the staff seemed very preoccupied with themselves and bored. The management still has a lot of work to do to live up to the advertised standards of the hotel and Hyatt. Read less
