The hotel

The latest addition to the Maldives’ celebrated Cinnamon hotel collection opened in October 2019 – and they’ve upped their luxury game even further, with indulgent villa upgrade options featuring Jacuzzis and plunge pools. You can upgrade more than your room too, enhancing Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives already fabulous all-inclusive package to ‘Virgin All-Inclusive’ or ‘Premium All-Inclusive’. Whichever package you pick, you’ll arrive by speedboat or seaplane to an island paradise in the pristine waters of Vaavu Atoll starring all the Maldivian musts – we’re talking exceptional diving and snorkelling, sunset cruises, island hopping experiences, and unforgettable dining spots like the alfresco VAH Global Dining, and the à la carte Asian cuisine on the beach at Iru Kitchen & Bar.

Where is it

Located 50 nautrical miles south of Malé International Airport in the pristine waters of Vaavu Atoll (east side of the Atoll). 90 minutes by speedboat or 25 minutes by seaplane (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

90 bungalows and suites. All with balcony or terrace, air conditioning, ceiling fan, telephone, LED TV, complimentary WiFi, Bose Speaker with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity®, mini-bar, tea/coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, iron and board (on request), safe, and spacious indoor bathrooms, some with bathtub and/or separate rainfall shower and bath amenities.

Superior Beach Lofts are 79sqm and offer stunning views of the Indian Ocean with a separate rainfall shower and bath amenities with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults. Option to interconnect with Beach Bungalows (ground floor).

Standard All Inclusive package: includes buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner at VAH Global Dining. Selection of local snacks served between 10:30am-11:30am, 4:00pm-6:00pm and 10:30-11:30pm. Unlimited regular house brands from a selection of spirits and wines (served by the glass only). Unlimited cocktails and mocktails from a select menu. Selection of draught beer. Selection of carbonated soft drinks, canned fruit juice, mineralised water plus teas and coffees. Access to gym, billiard, snooker, beach volleyball, beach tennis, futsal and table tennis (equipment included).

Virgin All Inclusive package: all inclusions of the standard package plus international premium brand spirits and wines, fresh juice, milk shakes, one seafood grill or steak dinner served at the table one time per stay in the VAH Global Dining, one excursion (once per stay), and mini-bar (soft drinks and beer) replenished once per day.

Premium All Inclusive package: all inclusions of the standard package plus welcome bottle of sparkling wine on arrival. In room mini-bar stocked with beer, soft drinks and selection of snacks (replenished once per day). Premium international brand spirits, wines and cocktails. Unlimited fresh juice and milk shakes. Two complimentary excursions from a selected list - per person per stay (weather permitting). Invitation to two special themed party events organised by the resort. One special dinner on the beach with the option of a mixed seafood grill or steak. Signature 60-minute Balinese spa treatment at Mandara Spa once every 5 night stay. Turndown service every night.

Beach Bungalows are 65sqm with terrace, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child. Option to interconnect with Beach Loft Rooms (upper floors).

Water Bungalows are 100sqm with large terrace dock, sleeping maximum 4 adults.

Sunset Water Bungalows with Jacuzzi are 100sqm with large terrace deck, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Water Suites with Pool are 208sqm with large terrace deck and outdoor plunge pool, sleeping maximum 4 adults.

The amazing entertainment N chord duo were great to listen too in the bar and would play any song we wanted ❤️ We could not find one fault with anything and we certainly had a honeymoon in paradise and it was better than we could have wished for. Everything about this resort was incredible. The room was amazing, so spacious and the staff were incredible. Everyone from the housekeeping staff to kitchen staff. A special mention to Chau and her team in the kitchen. They are amazing and make the best food! Plus they make an effort to get to know each and every guest.

Very peaceful and friendly resort island. Stunning colours of sea and sand. Fantastic food selection. Loft room was lovely, good WiFi and very clean with great views over the sea bungalows. Staff are great, especially Chau. We had a great time, mainly spent snorkeling with sharks and rays and stunning fish.

It took me a long time to decide on which hotel to stay in the Maldives for just 4 days. I wanted a fab reef, immaculate beaches and accessible from Male via speedboat due to our early flight departure. This hotel ticked those boxes. There are however some small areas for improvement that would really make this place amazing! Let’s break it down: Room: we stayed in a beach bungalow which we enjoyed. The location directly on the beach and steps from the ocean was stunning, waking up to open the curtains and have your own private little patch of beach was wonderful. The room was cleaned multiple times a day because of the sand and mini bar refilled daily. Bed was comfy, AC was fab however water in the shower was never above tepid.. we didn’t mind too much as it was very warm so it was refreshing but would like to have had hot water. Lots of storage and we didn’t find the upstairs for loft suite guests annoying in any way. Restaurant: as an all inclusive guest you have just one restaurant a buffet only. Food was good, always choice, different daily and I liked Chau the main chef for providing my daughter anything she wished at no problem attitude! She was lovely! Thank you! Location: A small island, much smaller than an other (Meeru) where we had stayed before. 90 minutes by speedboat home, but we were offered a complimentary seaplane to arrive which was fabulous, thank you for the experience! The beaches were stunning and actually found the better areas were outside our room! This had the softer sand and snorkelling spots so we didn’t have to go far. Some of the other areas of beach had more gritty/coral sand not fluffy white sand. Snorkelling was incredible, the house reef just accessible from your room and a swim across.. remember to go at a higher tide as the coral will be almost out the water at low tide. Staff: overall very good. Friendly, accommodating and nothing bad to say. Thank you! Areas for improvement: to have hotter water at times in the accommodation. Quality of cocktails, not great. I tried a few and they were like 10 shots of alcohol in one glass - too strong and not made that great. Prices of the spa were extortionate like 2-300 USD for a massage I mean it was always empty was staff not doing anything - if you make the prices more affordable than more people would use it surely?! The snorkelling equipment you have to pay to rent per day, so if you can bring your own snorkel and mask. Trips available were not great, just a sunset dolphin trip (where our trip was booked for the wrong day so we could t attend) and a trip to a local island. Nothing really for kids so not one if you’re expecting a kids club. We didn’t mind this too much as it was 4 days but longer Ild have liked a more child friendly island. Overall a fab stay that could be incredible! Bella the diver was very knowledgable and try to spot the nurse sharks at the end of the jetty! Wow! Read less
