This was a completely perfect holiday in a fantastic, well run and covid safe hotel. All the staff in the hotel are friendly and welcoming and cannot do enough to make your holiday special. We want to mention Reeshan and Shaffiu especially who worked so hard. Reeshan looked after our room exceptionally well, it was sanitised and cleaned every day with fresh beach towels whenever we wanted them. Shaffiu was our waiter in the dining room and we got to know him well during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for him and made sure all our food and drinks needs were met. He gave us a great insight into the Maldivian way of life too. Keep up with the guitar and singing Shafiu - we will look out for you on "Maldives Has Got Talent". Thanks so much to Toriq who helped Reesahm, to Marlon the GMr, Russell the F&B Manager and Adrienne who made sure we were able to get a Covid test without any problems. We felt really Covid safe with temperature checks every day and masks/gloves round the buffet. The food in the restaurant is great - plenty of variety and fresh with 5 cooks cooking stir fries, pasta, making up salads to your own specification and fresh naan breads etc. Perfect. The beach on the island is paradise with sun beds dotted around to use. The coral reef is just seconds from your sunbed and the snorkelling is exceptional. Millions of tropical fish, rays, sharks and colourful coral all around you in warm, clear sea. All in all a perfect, paradise holiday. We will be back! Read less

Despite it being in the midst of a pandemic, we were looked after brilliantly. We had a minor issue with our room, so we got to try both a beach bungalow and a water bungalow. Both were really lovely. The beach was well looked after and clean, the house ref was awesome (highly recommend the night snorkelling) and the water is so warm. Foodwise: breakfast was fine (all egg-based plates were lovely), lunch and dinner were great, deserts were a little bland, all of the freshly made breads (naan, chapati, roti, etc) were incredible. We didn't want to gorge for the 10 days, so we welcomed the lighter options, but if you are looking to eat a lot, there's not as much variety as you might expect. Fussy eaters beware - if you can't tolerate a bit of spice, your food will be bland. The hospitality team were outstanding. Nazru welcomed us on day one and learnt our names; attentive but never overbearing. We have named him, but everyone was lovely. A few people have mentioned kids in their reviews and although it's not adult-only, there's nothing for kids to do. I wouldn't recommend it to families unless the kids are capable of playing sports or amusing themselves. Kids who need 'looking after' are only going to annoy their own parents or the other guests. We went on the Manta Ray excursion which was breathtaking. We swam with these graceful, majestic beings. Overall, a wonderful respite from the pandemic and the boredom of home. Read less

We have just returned from this amazing, relaxing, welcoming and truly wonderful island resort. Having to cancel a pre planned trip to Gambia we found this last minute holiday available through TUI so booked a couple of weeks before departing so we could celebrate NYE. From the moment we landed, everything was faultless and well organised. On arriving to the island we were met by friendly and happy staff, offered juice and warm towels and in relation to Covid, had our temperature taken along with the sanitisation of our luggage and informed we could remove our face masks if we wished. I felt extremely comfortable and safe with all precautions being taken. (Temps taken daily, sanitisation regime is excellent, gloves mandatory in the dining areas and by the end of the holiday masks were too ) Our room was fabulous, we booked a beach bungalow (336) with a perfect view of the sea, a good sized terrace for sitting out and a private sandy area for our sun loungers. What is nice is that the bungalows are not situated too close together so you have privacy when relaxing on the terrace. Rooms were spacious, modern and extremely clean, loved the outside bathrooms too, our house keeper worked very hard and cleaned to a very high standard consistently and was thoughtful in that he kept us topped up with coffee and milk so we never ran out as we like our coffee, it was this attention to detail that makes all the difference - just a shame we didn’t catch his name as he is definitely worth mentioning. Staff are amazing, far too many to personally mention but they all work very hard and nothing is too much trouble, they are happy, friendly and genuinely care about us having a good time, the hotel manager, food and beverage manager and customer relations staff always made an effort to speak with us which is a great touch. We booked all inclusive for food and drink and were pretty impressed, food was amazing, great and wide selection of absolutely everything, the favourites for us were the curries and Indian breads - this chef was awesome, again never caught his name but his food was some of the best we’ve had, fresh, tasty and flavoursome and had us wanting to go back for more! I also loved the salad bar and the soups, really delicious. A really special touch was being presented a gorgeous chocolate cake for our anniversary- it was superb! As for drinks, completely faultless, plenty of selection and a good variety of cocktails, all well made, alcoholic and tasty so we drank many and enjoyed them in both of the bars. Overall this was a relaxing chilled out holiday where for 10 days we did little or nothing, we didn’t dive or snorkel we just immersed ourselves in the beautiful surroundings, taking barefooted walks in the gorgeous sunshine, listening to waves crashing, palms swaying and nothing else, for us this really was paradise found and everyone at the Ellaidhoo Maldives by Cinnamon played their part to make this happen for us and for that we thankyou! We have just returned from a beautiful 10 days in the Maldives. We feel very blessed to have been away during this time, and even more so following the announcement of a further national lockdown in the UK We booked through TUI, after our Egypt and Jamaica holidays were cancelled due to COVID-19. We therefore only booked the holiday a few days before flying, so had a bit of a rush arranging the negative COVID tests. At this time it’s of course always helpful to keep an eye on entry and exit requirements. Not only did we need negative test but had to upload photos and passport details onto Maldives website, 24 hours before arriving, not 24 hours prior to departure (as stated by TUI) We flew with Qatar airways, our first time. They were excellent and would certainly recommend them. On the way out we had a flight cancelled but they quickly got us on next one, and were whisked through Doha airport to ensure we reached our connection. We took their offer of business class for the return flights which was a lovely finish to our holiday and especially the Q-Suite from Male to Doha. We took the speed boat from Male to the Island. This was arranged by hotel and we had to wait over an hour for the remaining passengers to arrive. In future we may consider a private transfer. The trip took around an hour in excellent conditions. We arrived at a beautiful island and were greeted amazingly. Our temperatures were taken and as it’s COVID free we were able to remove our masks. This was such a privilege The check in was simple and quick with a refreshing drink, complimentary water bottle and then to our room. We were in Room 404, an over the water bungalow. Our bags arrived swiftly and we were given option of room tour, we declined!, nice to have a choice. The water bungalow was beautiful , and this side meant we had sun rise and sunset. Worth checking as from around room 412 I wasn’t sure they would. You cannot enter the water from your bungalow, as the waters are quite shallow. This of course is needed but was a little disappointing as in previous visits to Maldives that’s been a real positive The room itself was a good size, there were 3 adults sharing. The main bed overlooks the sea and is lovely to wake up to. The deck is lovely with loungers, day bed and chair (although that became our dryer as t was uncomfortable). We loved the outdoor shower and toilet and a fabulous sized bathroom. The staff kept the room really clean and tidy. There was sufficient drawer Space, although less hanger space. The wardrobes were also too high for Jo who struggled to reach. I felt they could have offered better products in the bathroom especially given the Spa was Elemis. The side table was too small for book and glasses so I pulled out telephone. There is a TV in room, which we didn’t watch, and on turning on towards end of holiday didn’t have any channels!. Suggest that a smart tv is included for those rainy days!. There was also a Bose speaker in room, which was a nice touch. We love our music so had our portable speakers. Sadly this Bose speaker was connected to desk and you couldn’t take onto deck. There wasn’t a great deal of information in room about hotel especially Spa and dive centre and would be great to have a comprehensive in room reference We had booked all inclusive through TUI. This meant the mini bar wasn’t included. I never understand this, I much prefer hotels that have all inclusive mean this and mini bar included. The hotel seemed to think offering water and tea and coffee was something special A few days in we realised that the was a premium all inclusive. This wasn’t offered through TUI, although Virgin customers were able to upgrade prior to departure for c£25 a day per person. At this price we would have taken the offer, which included some drinks from mini bar, an excursion, dinner and premium drinks and wider choice of cocktails. We weren’t offered this on arrival and when we enquired there was an exorbitant charge of $90 per person per day. As we were in the water bungalows we were close to the sea and had our table at the Malamathi, which had a spectacular view. The service here was exceptional. Our main waiter Nuafal was wonderful and wait out of his way to make our stay perfect. We were there at NYE and he was there, and there every day every hour. He organised our wonderful last evening dinner and even asked our son, Charlie to play football with him and the staff. Holidays are made by the people and Nuafal was exceptional. The overall service from all staff with their big smiles and hearts was beautiful and very much stand out. Marlon the hotel manager would come round every day and ask how things were. Our barman would know our drinks and deliver them, our pool chap knew our needs and was there putting up our shade. We spent some days by the pool and some days at the beach. There is certainly a need to look at more pool loungers and some more in beach. I’m an early riser to could ‘book’ mine, but I never feel comfortable leaving towels on beds then wandering away. Another nice touch hotel may wish to consider is maybe a waiter service around pool and beach. When we have experienced this in past it just adds that little extra touch to our holiday.... although I’m getting lazy. Overall we really enjoyed the food. I would have preferred different things every day but Charlie loved some standard things so it’s a balance. I felt it was about right. The cooking station was excellent, especially breakfast and noddles. I loved the curries for breakfast and omelettes . I’m not a sweet person so fruit mainly for me, the pineapple 🍍 and passion fruit was gorgeous. Again we weren’t told about the A la carte menu until we saw it. This had a great choice of burgers salads and Asian food. Not badly priced so worth a look There were a number of trips to look at, although reduced due to Covid especially visits to other islands, which is of course a shame. We took the dolphin 🐬 safari trip and sadly didn’t see any. The staff on this trip were not very good. There was no dialogue with the guests on the trip from the staff, no information and no feedback about the day, or potential opportunities to spot the dolphins or that even we had turned back. It was sold as a dolphin safari and communication/dialogue with the staff who are the experts in the waters around the Maldives could have been something that actually made the day for us despite having not seen any dolphins. I would suggest to hotel that if you don’t get to see dolphins perhaps you get opportunity to go again free of charge. This is offered on tours in Iceland this with a Northern lights excursions, if your trip doesn’t see the northern lights the you could keep going until you saw them, and come back year after year. I would hope hotel wanted to see fantastic dolphin pictures and excited customers The pool was nice refreshing and good location. The house reef was magical and the ability to see fishes, shark, rays, coral as you walked, snorkelled, swam totally made the holiday. The daily fish feeding where nerf sharks and manta rays came was joyful. In addition I took my PADI whilst there and the dive school were excellent. Sam our instructor was really good. I have promised myself I would PADI for sometime and am glad I did. Meant we were able to see shark, lobster, turtle and moray eels. I would suggest they look to communicate plans a little clearer, we spent a little too much time in classroom when this could have been done on you tube! On top of the excursions and a la carte there is also the chance to pay for evening meals on beach or at table, we did this on last night and was a perfect way to end with delicious seafood or events such as bbq on beach or NYE. The meals, wine, champagne was extra, and wasn’t cheap but certainly worth it. There is a good quality wine list with plenty of options to choose from with wines across the world. We would have liked to see some wines from close by countries such as Sri Lanka and India as when we are away we love to support local economies. We always like a spa treatment on our holidays, and this no different. The staff in the spa were quiet, respectful, amazing at their job and I slept so well after mine, and our skins felt wonderful. Charlie was a little nervous on his first ever spa but loved it that much he went back for more! They also looked at the best value deal for us as we had a number of treatments There is a Small shop on the island selling snorkelling gear, few gifts and essentials. They know they have a captive market so not cheap, and there is no ATM on island and no opportunity to have cash back at the reception cashiers desk, although they do exchange money for local currency for you, i would suggest you ensure you are prepared before leaving UK or Male. We had details of our check out a few days before departing, and were asked to pay bill, which we did, although there were items missing. We ended up paying 3 times, and this was frustrating. Check out isn’t very busy so suggest this is fine just before departure. We were also very disappointed to find we had to purchase lunch and drinks on our last day, even though we didn’t leave until late afternoon. It’s these small things that prevent hotel being totally exceptional in my eyes. Overall we absolutely loved our stay, and was one of our favourite family holidays. Of course the location, weather, and fish are a large contribution to this. The service levels were excellent and I would certainly recommend this to fellow travellers Read less
