2 week stay in October staying in beach bungalow 303 (near the dive school – good location as it has a large section of beach), full board.   What can I say but THANK YOU, to the wonderful team at Ellaidhoo Maldives!  This is our second trip, our first was in 2007, and an unexpected one, as our original travel plans were cancelled due to the pandemic.  First thing to say here is that the safety measures employed by Ellaidhoo are excellent, all staff wearing masks, employing covid secure working practices and social distancing.  Everyone must have a negative PCR test (hours of test vary depending on the airlines and country of embarkation) and you have a temperature check each day with a friendly member of staff.    We were so well looked after by the staff and were fortunate enough to dine at the Malamathi Restaurant where Susil and Charuka were so amazing in waiting on us, helping with special requests and celebratory dinners as well as some of our more fussy dining requests (😉 ).  Susil managed to find the best prawns and lobsters for some very special dining! My hats off to the chefs as the food was incredible and beautifully presented, some of which is grown on the island too, it was a sincere pleasure to dine there each day, even if we did end up having to use the gym a bit more to work it off!    The facilities on the island are good, there are two bars, one which hosts the fish feeding at 5.30pm (there are some stunning black tip and reef sharks as well as eels and rays which come in), the other is by the Malamathi Restaurant and both were great in supplying us with delicious cocktails!  The infinity pool is large and during my visit I had it entirely to myself.  There is a large pool room and the Gym is really well stocked with equipment.  We also p[played a lot of table tennis, badminton and table football, sadly we forgot to make time for the huge tennis court – but plan to next time. The gardens are beautifully maintained and well planted (many of the trees are labelled and there are many gorgeous flower beds).  We were also treated to fresh coconut while they were carrying out the tree maintenance which was really impressive to watch.  The gardens support some wonderful wildlife, it was really a joy to see the flying foxes digging in to the pollen and fruit on the trees, watching the herons, plovers and koels flying about as well as the beautiful agamid lizards (with their pretty red colouring) and cute little geckos.  I hope they keep supporting the wonderful array of biodiversity on this island (as well as the reef around it) as it is so wonderful so walk around and observe.   Special thanks go to Ayo and Nova from the spa who arranged a wonderful spa day for my birthday as well as a beautifully designed card and gifts.  We enjoyed all the spa treatments, especially the Balinese massage, it made our stay even more special.  They were also kind enough to offer taster massages outside the restaurant which we took advantage of most days!   I would also like to thank Kelly, Jacky and Chalani from hospitality, who greeted us so warmly and promptly answered all of our questions and requests for activities and things to do on the island.  They also provided wonderful handmade garlands both on my birthday and as we left,  We loved the fishing so much we booked it twice and really enjoyed eating our haul of red snapper!    Thanks also to the housekeeping team (special thanks to Rokitha and his team) who kept our bungalow spotless and left beautiful welcome, birthday and goodbye messages in flowers on our bed.  They also expertly and quickly handled our laundry which was so nice to have!   The house reef is truly excellent here and we had sightings of manta rays, eagle rays, sting rays, black tip and reef sharks, moray eels, what I think were hawksbill turtles and a stunning variety of corals and fish that I can’t even begin to list.  I don’t dive, but I didn’t need to anyway with all the wonderful things to see snorkelling along the house reef.  My partner dived every other day with the dive school and did a mix of night dives, boat dives and dives around the house reef and loved every minute of it. Thanks to Sonee and the staff there.   The general manager of the resort Mr Marlon Robert was so friendly and was so nice to greet us and also to check in with us to see how we were enjoying our stay, he and his team also organised the most wonderful cocktails evening with some incredible food.   Our expectations were massively exceeded and it was truly wonderful to take a break from 2020 and be so well looked after.  Thanks again to the amazing team, we will be back!   In terms of tips for future stays:   bring some mosquito spray, the Maldives is in the tropics so of course there are some mozzies about, even though the staff do their very best to fog the island and reduce standing water. Bring cash for tipping, its of course not expected on the island but I think it’s a nice added extra to say special thanks to the staff who have helped you.  We did not bring enough! Bring a stainless steel straw, the island is trying to be as plastic free as possible (you get a welcome gift of a handy canteen for water on arrival), but its also no fun drinking a long cocktail without a straw. Myself and my best friend spent a week at Ellaidhoo and from the moment we stepped onto the island to the moment we left we was soo looked after. It felt very safe on arrival all our luggage was sprayed our temperature was taken which gave me piece of mind in the current climate. At check in they have drinks waiting for you and the whole process was very easy, they even gave us a personalised water flask to use during our stay. We were then taken to our room and on the way they gave us a tour of the island which was very helpful. We had a beach bungalow which I think was perfect the beach and sea on your doorstep. The rooms were cleaned everyday and on my best friends birthday they decorated her bed which was lovely and also on our departure our room was decorated this was such a lovely and personal touch. The facilities at this resort were all amazing from the diving centre which gave us a beginners lesson into diving to the spa. We had a 60min Balinese massage which was absolutely amazing and definitely a must if you visit this island. Let’s move onto the food, I am a very fussy Eater and I don’t really like fish however I found myself eating more fish than I probably ever have. The food at this resort was absolutely amazing and I have no complaints whatsoever. Compliments to the chefs and restaurant staff who do really look after you! The excursions are limited at the moment due to COVID however we did the ones available which were fishing and dolphin safari. I have never been fishing and wasn’t really interested but after our first excursion I fell in love with fishing and we booked another fishing trip, this was again due to the staff and how fun and helpful they made it. The sunset cruise was again just beautiful and we were soo looked after again with cocktails and a pick nick which we didn’t expect. I wish I could add more photos to show how amazing this place is, but it would only let me select 10. A special shout out to our pool guy Kamal who also looked after us soo well we had flowers and decorations on our sun beds for when we wanted to use it. And a very big thank you to all the staff apologies I didn’t get everyone’s names but every single one of you made this a trip of a lifetime. I could go on and on About how amazing this trip was I would highly recommend visiting Ellaidhoo and I for one cannot wait to book this holiday again! Read less

My husband and I came here in November for 10 nights and loved every bit. The staff, views, food, rooms and variety of trips were all 10/10! We’ll start with our room - we stayed in a standard room which was perfect for us. It was clean, spacious and the outside bathroom was a nice touch. We were super close to the pool area too which we liked. The food - a huge variety and we loved speaking to all the chefs and getting to know them. There was so many different stations for breakfast, lunch and dinner and we enjoyed every meal we had. The views - speechless!!! Every day we woke up and went for a swim and each time we were amazed at the views when looking over the pool ledge. We loved walking around the Island and seeing all the baby sharks and fish swimming by our feet. The trips - the two guys who run the trips were great! We did the dolphin tour and travelled to the local island - Hangnaameedho. They had tons of information for us. The local island was my favourite part. I loved seeing how the locals live - we visited the school, saw their court house, drunk some fresh coconut water and loved chatting to the locals and their children. The staff - they were all amazing! Considering the hours they all work, they always had a smile on their face and couldn’t do enough for us! We didn’t come across one member of staff who didn’t want to help and they all seem to really enjoy working there. One person in particular who made our trip even better was Saman who works by the pool side - what an amazing person! We spoke to him every day and loved hearing about his family back in Sri Lanka. He works so hard, always put the customers first, was kind and considerate and never left us without a towel! For us, he is someone we won’t forget after our trip and we hope his son gets the dog he’s been wishing for ;-)!! Thank you so much for our amazing stay! We hope to come back at some point in the future. Read less

Me and my daughter visited Ellaidhoo by cinnamon, from the very start we was greeted by the whole island, every single person was so kind caring smiley and thoughtful, we were treated like queens the whole time we were there, loved chatting to everyone , the diving centre are just superb at what they do we really loved snorkelling diving and canoeing, all the guys were so lovely. And they are with you every step of the way, specially as I got slightly scared! The kitchen staff are the funniest and always remembered what your favourite is, and the chef is outstanding at what he does such perfection with every single meal! The food was unreal!! Our beach bungalow was perfectly clean so a high standard, everybody was just so happy to see us everyday, and the manager is a angel, we burnt pretty bad and without his suggestion of the pure aloe Vera plant he had some given to us! Such a friendly and sweet man, my daughter had a birthday out there they made a cake and sang to her it was just utterly lovely if every one of them, the two sweet ladies in the spa, the treatments are really something the ladies are so professional and have the most calming voices. Not forgetting chalani peiris and a sweet other lady whom name escapes me where so so helpful and incredibly sweet, we miss everyone so much, the whole island is just stunning I will be back as soon as possible!! Every person always kept social distancing and protective masks we felt ever so safe, everything was being cleaned constantly, most relaxing holiday we have ever had the pleasure of having.
