We had a wonderful 4 week slay at Mystique St Lucia in February/March. This was our 6th stay at this beautiful resort and once again we didn't have problems or issues at all. Our room was serviced very well daily by the wonderful Samantha. Everything worked well, no problems at all. Our running water was a good pressure and the water was lovely and hot. We didn't use the tv as we weren't in the room long enough to spend time watching it, but I did check and it worked well. We really enjoyed the local foods at breakfast time. Lunch we normally got from Mahi's beach restaurant take away which always had a good choice of foods. We loved the delicious chicken roti and jerk chicken wrap. Dinner we always enjoyed in the buffet restaurant, Epicure, many different enjoyable choices that we never had a problem choosing foods that we liked. Jerry and Chantal did a wonderful job of providing entertainment throughout the day. The evening entertainment was great, steel pan, Shervon a great country singer, fire eaters, karaoke, silent disco, Andreas who had a wonderful singing voice and other vocalists whose names sadly I can't remember. As we are not 'early birds' we didn't join in the 'silly o'clock' get out of bed to reserve sun lounger and palapas on the beach or around the pool. Instead we would enjoy coffee on our patio and then make our way to the beach to get sun loungers and shade just before 9am. We never had problems getting a sun lounger or shade but at around lunchtime we usually moved the sun loungers to somewhere more shady as the sun had moved around by then. We wish that Mystique would still be open for us to return next Christmas but sadly this isn't the case. Many thanks to Greta, Jerry, Chantal and Holland for making our stay so happy. Plus a big thank you to each and every member of staff at Mystic for making our 6 stays at Mystic such happy times. Both of us would like to wish all Mystic staff good luck for their futures and hope to see you again maybe at another resort. Read less

I’m from Canada and I thoroughly enjoyed my one week vacation at Mystique. With these hard economic times in the world I’m grateful that I was able to visit and experience the beautiful, scenic island of Saint Lucia. I’m honestly flabbergasted at the negative reviews. If you have a negative mindset from the start, you will probably have a negative experience. The Mystique isn’t a 5 star resort and it’s not advertised as a 5 star resort. It’s over 35 years old. It’s not brand new but it’s not in dire straits either. In my eyes, the resort was well-maintained and very clean. The grounds were well kept. The staff were friendly and worked hard to serve guests. I was pleasantly surprised with the room. It was spacious, bright, and clean. Yes it was a little dated but it wasn’t run down at all. Air conditioning worked great. Bed was comfy. I never had a problem with the temperature of the water in the shower. I had to adjust the temperature and patiently wait for the hot water for a few seconds but it’s quite easy to do. The food was satisfactory. Fruit was only served at breakfast. I like eating fresh fruit at all my meals while on vacation. The beach restaurant Mahi’s had good beach food such as homemade burgers, jerk chicken quesadillas and homemade hummus with veggies when we wanted a break from the buffet. We went to Rodney Bay (a 5 minute walk from the resort) for supper once at one of the local restaurants for something different. As I don’t drink alcohol I enjoyed the non alcoholic drinks and diet pop. The food at the a la carte restaurant Chic was tasty. I so loved the vintage decor. It was like you took a step back in time. I’m a beach person. I didn’t step foot once in the pool. Reduit Beach was phenomenal with clear, calm Caribbean water. The beach was long enough to go for nice walks. Sometimes things weren’t on time like the beach towels not being ready in the morning or Mahi’s opening an hour late. Most guests were Westerners and they expect being on time and the instant hustle and bustle of life. On the flip side it’s good exposure to relax, chill out, and go with the flow with island time. If people want new and upscale decor, more selection at the buffet and grand, nightly entertainment I suggest they stay at a newer and larger 5 star resort with 900 rooms or even 400 rooms. You will probably need to pay double or even more of what you paid for at the Mystique. The Mystique has only 95 rooms. It’s an older small, boutique, low key resort, which is what I like and chose it for that reason. I don’t like loud, boisterous places. I like calm and relaxed. I’m glad I stayed on Reduit beach before they tear down the two smaller resorts and build one big resort. Beach and beach chairs: 5 stars Room: 4.5 stars Food: 3 stars Atmosphere, hospitality & staff: 4.5 stars Pool, alcoholic drinks, and nightly entertainment: Not applicable Read less

Yes, the building is tired and dated but the rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. The grounds are well Kept and the pool area has a certain charm. Any problems were attended to promptly. The lovely staff go overboard to make you feel welcome and couldn’t be more attentive. Breakfast and lunch are great as are the drinks. The evening buffet is a little limited but it’s a small price to play for the heavenly beach. Don’t worry about all the negative reviews - just come and have a great time in this heavenly spot before it gets bulldozed and replaced with another soulless mega resort! You won’t regret it if you come with the right attitude! You get a lot more than the price and awful comments might lead you to believe! Read less

Ok so have spent a week at the Mystique and am still scratching my head and trying to figure out if those writing the “run for your lives” reviews stayed at the same place! This is a quaint Caribbean resort. The rooms are huge and comfortable. The beach is wonderful and we had shady spots all week. If you get up at 9 am don’t expect to find a shady spot. The staff have been nothing but friendly and helpful. There are a few vendors that go up and down the beach but if you say no thanks they won’t bug you. The food is typical buffet and we ate well all week. Honestly when I read the reviews I was really second guessing the trip. Don’t. Come to this beautiful island and enjoy. If you are the type that nitpicks every thing choose a huge resort in Mexico. Finally if you come and go into Rodney bay for an afternoon of shopping bring a bottle of water so the poor stray pooch that comes to say hi has some fresh water to drink. A beautiful friendly pooch that I would have loved to bring home. Read less
