We stayed in the overwater sunset villa 307 for 12 nights in an all-inclusive package. We are frequent travellers - this was our 7th visit to the Maldives but the first time at Radisson Blu - and, therefore, expectations were high. The resort did overall match our expectations. The island is beautiful, the waters are crystal clear, and the beach is nice and fairly long. It gives a feeling of "curated nature", as it's not as wild as other islands in the Maldives we have visited. Despite not having a real "in-house reef", snorkeling is quite good and marine life is abundant. The villas are very spacious and comfortable, with large decks, easy water access, and private pools of a very good size. The villas are aligned in a way that makes for plenty of privacy. There are rocks and dead coral around, so stepping out at low tide can be challenging. We had expressed this concern when booking, but ultimately found the location of our villa good enough in this respect. Still, I would bring water shoes next time around! In general, the overwater villas on the sunrise side might have sandier surroundings but we found the sun exposure in the sunset side hard to beat and worth the price premium. As always, staff kindness and engagement is an important part of a resort. We found staff members to be generally friendly and very polite. Some special references: - our island host Oybek, who kindly looked after us during the whole stay; - all the great team at Eats & Beats, with a very special thanks to Tia and the pizza Cook. They both went above and beyond to make our meal times special, with endless patience for our (sometimes grumpy!) 4 year old daughter; - Semko and Haathi at the Kid's club, for all the fun activities that our daughter loved (even with some screen time included); - Rose at Raha restaurant, who always welcomed us with a smile; - Lyne at the BLU Spa, with whom I would recommend doing a Balinese massage; - The front desk for kindly arranging a late check-out, which was extremely appreciated before a 24h return trip with a small child. The resort app also helps with easy communication and bookings. As in every stay, some points could be improved. In our experience, the main buffet and the villa cleaning service were the weakest elements: - The breakfast buffet at Raha restaurant is okay, its quality and variety could be better. However, the real disaster happens in the evening... We did not like at all the "semi-buffet" setting for Raha at dinner time. It just means that the buffet lacks quality and variety, making it actually difficult to find something to eat. The fact that sometimes there is an "a la carte" option, but waiters don't come to ask if we are interested, makes it confusing and slow?! The only time we ordered an item from the menu, it never came to our table! For a family resort, it is also difficult to understand that there is no kids' corner in the buffet. Overall, it seems that the buffet dinner is simply catering to Asian preferences (the majority of the clients during our stay were Chinese) and forgetting about others. For these reasons, we ended up going to Eats & Beats for both lunch and dinner. The variety of the menu, the quality of the food, and the kindness of the service at Eats & Beats were on another level compared to Raha. - In other resorts, there is usually an attempt to understand the guests' timings and match the cleaning of the villa to the extent possible. Here, it just didn't happen... The villa was usually cleaned - quickly, basically, and without extras - while we were there. On 2-3 occasions, garbage bins were not emptied. We were also told at arrival that the villa would be serviced twice during the day, with a second service in the evening. It also never happened with our villa, although we saw the neighbor villas being attended to when leaving for dinner. In general, the service was very average, with the exception of the generous minibar. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and the many positive points clearly outweigh the few negatives mentioned above. We would definitely recommend Radisson Blu Maldives and will certainly return! Read less
