The last time I stayed at non such I had an amazing time. So of course this time my birthday coming around there was no question where I wanted to spend it. But this time was nothing compared to the last. I am so disappointed. We checked in on Friday the 18 , to room 3904. I respectfully ask if I come here again please do not ever place me in that room again. My partner and I come to non such mainly because it is so quiet and away from everything. That room was soooo noisy. It’s right by the pool so we got no peace. The next day the AC in our room decided to stop working for hours. Thankfully the front desk staff after realizing the problem couldn’t be easily rectified moved us to another room. We get there and there is no soap , no shampoo, no water and the internet was not working. Call to front desk and they advise they will get us some soap and shampoo. After about an hour and a half, I called the reception again as we had not received anything. I was then told I would have to come get them. Never in all my travels or stays have I been to a hotel where I’m inconvenienced but then I need to come collect the items. Someone has always been sent up. It was so late we didn’t even bother leaving the room to go. The next morning the water shuts off mid shower. When we are at lunch we are told it’s back on. Great. Get back to the room turn on the water it smells awful and is brown in colour. At this point I’m like what else can go wrong. Coupled with the clearly short staffed dining and Bar Area. Ordering a drink with our meal and finishing the meal before it arrives. Then comes the last day. I paid for the late checkout which last time I stayed was 5pm. Imagine my surprise when at 3:20pm I receive a phone call asking if I’m not gonna come check out. I said but last time it was 5pm then I get told policies have changed. It’s fine if policies change I totally understand that but COMMUNICATE it to the guest BEFOREHAND not at the 11th hour. I am so disappointed especially it being my birthday weekend. The staff were super apologetic , I only wish they had no reason to keep apologizing to us. Except for the staff at reception who could see I was visibly upset and chose to brush me off with this email address to “voice my concerns” rather than hear my concerns. It’s a great resort and I would stay again but not under those same conditions. Read less

We have just stayed for 8 nights at the The Escape and I really cannot say enough about this place. I am half wanting to keep it a secret but that would be unfair to the owners and the wonderful staff who really cannot do enough to make your holiday perfect in every way. From the breathtaking rooms which are all with their own private balcony pools, outdoor double bathing tubs and spacious interiors to Michelin standard food, that they are happy to tweak the menu to customer tastes and great choice of drinks and wines which flow as freely as you handle!! Small enough to be personal and the staff call you by name but large enough to keep the entertained with trips to green island and your own private beach and the walk over the hill to the main resort if you want more pools or a different view. I always like to provide constructive feedback but in this case I honestly cannot think of one thing I would improve..... other than enforcing a 2 week stay!!! Thanks to Schena and all the team (don’t want to name them for missing someone out!!) for making this a holiday to remember and we will be back!! PS. Don’t want the review to be taken over by a COVID comment but want to say that the island as a whole and also The Escape have a great grip on the safety measures required to minimise spread and can see why the beautiful island of Antigua is one of the safest places to visit in the world at the moment. Food and drink is abundantly offered and of a very high standard. It is quiet and secluded - an ideal romantic get a way. The trips to Green Island are a stunning opportunity to enjoy sea turtles and tropical fish on uninhabited island. It is on the East side of the island away from the usual tourist areas but the gorgeous half moon bay beach is very close by and English Harbour is a 30 minute drive so very easy to see sights if you want to explore the island and then return to a peaceful haven. I own a travel agency so when I visit properties I am there to enjoy but to also review them for my clients. My wife and I had 2 weeks in Antigua and our first week we spent at The Escape the 2nd week was at a very famous all-inclusive on the other side of the island. Each of these properties offer something unique & special. The Escape is for Couples only and has its own lovely inlet bay. While we were there we met mostly guests on honeymoons, anniversaries or just wanting a relaxing romantic getaway. The staff in all areas of the resort were super friendly and loved talking with them. Sabrina was our greeter when we arrived and we chatted with her throughout our stay. She added a great sense of comfort and fun to our visit, Love her. If you go you must ask her about the Time Waster boyfriend it is to funny. All the staff made us feel special and appreciated. We hated to leave. There are only 40 rooms all with their very own plunge pools and outdoor soaker tubs. The AC worked so well we kept having to turn the temp higher or would have had ice forming on the sliding glass doors. The beds all face out to look at the bay. We had a few trees in front where we watched hummingbirds feed each night around 5- 6 pm. Your Plunge pool area is very private for a little romance. If you want a better view ask for the upper floor room, the lower floors have mostly the amazing vegetation to view. While staying here you have access to the atlantic side beach via a shuttle and also to the watersport equipment. They also have (included) a boat that takes you out to Green Island which is so private you feel like it is your own. You can sun and snorkel out there. Beautiful inclusion note- you need to schedule it a day ahead. Being an All-Inclusive resort I know you want to hear about the food and booze. They have 1 restaurant and bar it is a small place remember. The restaurant is a covered deck on the waterfront of the bay, with ceiling fans and a few birds who beg for food. It was always comfortable no matter what time of day. Breakfast is good and have a choices for all diets (all meals do) We loved the traditional English breakfast and the mushrooms taste amazing. We had a few lunches not many because we were out and about but were very good when we ate on property. Dinners is where they shine and the chef takes great care in presentation and flavors. All our dinners were very good to excellent. Each day the menu changed to offer catch of the day and other creative delights. Desserts that we tried were excellent. The only area that I think the resort needs to improve on is the Bar and offer a few daily special cocktails along with the regular list. Also having a few higher end liquors would be nice. This is being nit picky but it is a competitive market for high end all-inclusives so this needs to be addressed. Overall this was our most relaxing, romantic vacation ever in 39 years of marriage and we hated having to leave and would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks to the staff for making it so special. Can't say enough about this beautiful resort! We had an amazing time. The room was beautiful, the food was wonderful, and many of the employees became friends that we will keep in contact with for years to come! I've taken a lot of trips, but this one was definitely one of my favorites. We will be returning!
