The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

It's taken me 2 months to write this review becuase honestly, I was scared i couldn't do it justice. 2ad 2ch (9/13) soent 12 nights at Zilwa in August. From day 1, I felt relaxed. The hotel is amazing. The views, the food, everything. We had a "family apartment" which was 2 rooms with an outer door which could be locked leaving a small entrance hall to the 2 rooms turning them into connecting rooms. Perfect. The only downside was the bathroom was open plan to the room but we easily worked around it. Grand Zil for lunch is a must! The first boat leaves at 11am and returns at 3:30pm. The food on the island is so good! You really do feel like you're on a deserted island. Make sure you book! The Lor Disab for lunch was fab. I miss those lunchtime views. Only negative was the lamb is only on once a week! The main pool by reception is very cold, we didn't venture in very often but it's lovely to be there for the views. The pool by Lor Disab became our regular spot and the beach bar was lovely. The boat house had everything you need, including beach shoes if needed. We were unlucky with the wind which meant SUP wasn't available most days but we enjoyed kayaking and a glass bottom boat trip. All included in the AI package. I really could rave all day. Its most definitely in the top of my all time favourite hotels. I'd return in a heartbeat. Thanks to all the staff and special mention must go to Charmen and Rohan (sorry if I've spelt your names wrong) for going above and beyond with their service. Always attentive and friendly. Hopefully we will see you again one day! Read less

Zilwa is definitely the best, as I mentioned pure bliss! The views, the staff, the meals, everything was perfection, I cannot fault a single thing. The staff really go over and above and they make this place even more special. We went to Mauritius for my husband's 40th birthday and at dinner, they brought out a cake, sang for him, really made it sooo special. Both land and water activities were so awesome, we had a blast! I am so grateful for choosing Zilwa and we will definitely be back! I want to add a special thanks to taxi driver, Rakesh Bissoo. We met him at Zilwa and used his services for our entire stay. We told him places of interest that we would like to see, he took us to those places and more. We explored all parts of Mauritius and we were so blessed to have met him. A true family man and he does this job wholeheartedly. He explained things that no one will think is important to share and we were so intrigued, especially my 12 year old! He even booked our catamaran trip to Ile aux Cerf island so we did not have to stress about anything and we truly just chilled in 'Paradise', thanks to Rakesh. A gem of a person! Read less

We have literally no idea how some people can rate this hotel as one star. The hotel is utterly fantastic, it is super chilled and, despite being full, there is loads of space. Staff are amazing and genuinely want your stay to be as relaxed and fun as possible. We wanted for nothing. Particular highlights, the little island where they whisk you over for wonderful BBQ lunch, heated pool and enjoying pre dinner cocktails in, the amazing food in every restaurant. It was all amazing and we are so sad to leave. Many thanks to the staff at Lor Disob where service and food is spectacular. Particularly Adarsh, Azagen, Pranshu & Shubham. Thank you for going so out of your way and looking after my particular dietary needs to make it super special. Fabulous hotel Read less
