The staff were amazingly welcoming and upbeat, there’s a really nice atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and clean, although a little basic - they could do with some shelving in the bathroom and a bit of a spruce up. The location is great, with the city sightseeing bus stop right outside across the road and a lovely walk along the coast, we walked right to the V&A waterfront easily, which was about 20 mins. But Uber drivers are aplenty there and so cheap! The food at Sotana (hotel restaurant) was superb and the breakfasts included with our room were fantastic. The only downside is that we were on the first floor and our doors were just above the outside bar area, which is quite loud but usually quiet by 11/11:30. This was a great base for Cape Town exploring!

A charming hotel with beautiful ocean view. Cozy bar and good restaurant. Lots of ambiance on weekends, you have to make a reservation. And above all very friendly staff who also do everything possible for special requests.
Wonderful stay, peaceful and relaxing

Several issues encountered during our stay, which made the stay somewhat unpleasant overall.
On the first morning, we returned to the room from breakfast to find 2 strange men in our room. They turned out to be plumbers to resolve a leak, but had moved possessions to facilitate their work and with no prior warning or notice from staff, this was extremely unnerving and left a very uncomfortable feeling while in the room for the rest of the stay. Unsure why we were checked into a room with a leak or not informed about this upon arrival, as this did not appear to be any kind of emergency?
Simultaneous to this issue, we received a knock on the door from an aggressive member of staff from the restaurant, informing us that we needed to pay for our breakfast immediately and it was not included in the room. (this was incorrect, which was confirmed by a conversation with the reception staff at the hotel), but seems a very strange and once again intimidating experience to be harassed in our room, rather than a polite request to come to reception to sort out, or better still a conversation between the staff members in the first place.
Other inconveniences in the room included a lack of any electrical sockets to charge anything, without unplugging the fridge, tv (which also did not work on any channel other than premier league tv - a blessing or a curse, depending on your preference) or other necessary item.
Two nights we had no electricity to any sockets at all in the room (not linked to load shedding, we actually found this easy to navigate with clear signs posted in the hotel)
WIFI was patchy at best in the room, again inconvenient for international travellers, with nothing else to do with no TV.
Lighting remained on while load shedding, but the entrance to our room was in total darkness and required use of torches.
There is also a lighthouse, as mentioned in other reviews, which does indeed blast out a fog horn - at 6 am - every 20 seconds (we counted). This of course is not the fault of the hotel but something to be aware of for future guests and the windows offer no hint of noise cancellation to counter this.
The hotel was in a good location for the beach and the sightseeing bus, the cleaning of the rooms was great and the reception staff were polite and friendly, but overall not a great experience and we would not recommend this hotel in the future.

Your holiday may be affected by travel restrictions or cancellations
We are continually reviewing our flying schedules, taking into account the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advice against all non-essential travel. Your next holiday is only a click away - our website has thousands of options ready to book. But if you need more help, just give us a call on 0344 472 9646.
With many customers needing our help, we are prioritising those customers due to travel before 31 December 2020. Log in to Manage my booking where you can message us about your options or you can give us a call. Bear in mind you may have to wait longer than expected. We continue to review this and working to open up these options to more customers. In the meantime check out our FAQs to see if this can help answer any immediate questions.
Rest assured; we will notify you as soon as we know if your holiday has been affected by email.

Don’t worry if you’ve missed a payment or just need a little more time to pay; we have options available to help you. Payments are being prioritised based on when the request was made, working in order from March 2020 onwards. We will always try to process refunds at the earliest opportunity, for requests before August our maximum timeframe is 120 days. As we are steadily reducing the maximum processing time for each new request, for refund requests made in August, we expect the maximum processing time to be 80 days, from the date the refund is requested. For those requesting a refund in September, we expect it to be processed within a maximum of 60 days, and then reduce to 30 days for refunds requested in October, before returning to normal levels.
To finalise the amendment, one of our customer advisors will phone you. We need to work through amend requests in departure date order so we can prioritise those with the most imminent travel plans, so you may have a longer wait than usual until we’re able to ring you back. We will help everyone that wants to move their holiday.
