Very well appointed and comfortable – had everything you needed to feel homey and cook, etc. We didn't realize that lawhill had a daily cleaning and restocking service, which was a nice surprise. Very well located - close to the V&A waterfront with all the restaurants and shops etc.; we had fun grocery shopping at the Woolworths. Lawhill is also well situated as far as visiting the sites in Cape Town - Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Gardens, the Bo-Kaap area, etc. We used uber to go everywhere, and they were very reliable, fast, and reasonably priced. Now the downsides: The bed was fairly hard, but we discovered that this is pretty much the standard in South Africa. Also, we were there in winter, and it was quite cold in the apartment, even after adjusting the thermostat; it felt like the HVAC system was turned off completely. The load shedding was fine; the apartment we were in had a UPS for the TV, so it was ok. Maybe ask before booking. There were also only certain times when the hot water tanks were on, but it's quite reasonable: there are three hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening for showers, and most times the hot water will last for a while after the heaters have actually turned off. One thing that could be improved is that nothing had any instructions: not the oven, the washing machine, TV remotes, nothing. We figured it out, but appliances can be very different in different countries, so that part wasn’t fun. Read less

We found the check-in process very time consuming and half way through their system went down and so only 2 in our party of 4 were given passes to the security gates. We stayed at Lawhill Apartments for 4 nights. We found the check-in process very time consuming and half way through their system went down and so only 2 in our party of 4 were given passes to the security gates. When we got to the apartment, we immediately noticed it was uncomfortably cold and asked how to get heat. The gentleman fiddled with the controls for awhile and then left, saying not to worry, it would come on. We left to get dinner and when we got back we saw that we could not reuse the 2 passes to get 4 people in, so we had to squeeze 3 people through the opening using the 2nd pass. The apartment was still very, very cold and now, because of load shedding, there was no electricity. It was a terrible start but what made it worse was the manager kept denying that there were any problems, saying instead that we didn't understand or blaming the issues on someone else. We did eventually find one person who was helpful and got our heat going the second day and also got us 2 more passes. The rest of the time, we enjoyed our stay except on the last day, we had to leave early in the morning for the airport and we found we were locked in. No one answered their security phone. We ran around the inside of the complex searching for a guard, finally finding one and he opened the door for us. I asked for a partial refund on the first night but my request was never answered. Perfect location within walking distance of many restaurants and shops at the waterfront. Secure location and easy check in process (as others have noted you check in at an office and they drive you round to security and then the apartment). Well appointed apartment with balcony and washing machine. Load shedding does impact the building as it’s on a residential complex but the living room has a generator so things like Wi-Fi and some lights work during load shedding. It didn’t really impact us as we were out or asleep most of the time load shedding was happening- do download the app recommended by the apartment company, super useful to know when load shedding was we used it our whole two week trip. Lovely apartments, ideal if you want to self cater. We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment which was enormous. The check in process takes some time but it's a small price to pay for the security of the location. Lovely staff, we had some parcels delivered that were poorly labeled and they went out of their way to make sure that we received them

We stayed here for a few nights and the apartment was very spacious with beautiful views over the canal. There is a well equipped Kitchen, washer and dryer, plus 2 bathrooms and a separate toilet for a family of 4. Perfectly located and about 12 minutes walking distance to the centre at the V & A. We would stay here again in the future. The only downside is the loadshedding, which is a pain. It’s not the accommodations fault, but it does mean that there is very little amenities working (and our Wifi didn’t work either during loadshedding) during the loadshedding hours. We got the times in the app and managed our day accordingly, but it can be tricky if there are 3 lots of power cuts in 24 hours. Read less
