Radisson Red

Cape Town, South Africa

The hotel

Paving the way for the next generation of hotels, Radisson RED Cape Town isn’t just somewhere to bed down – from high-tech touches to sustainable craft cuisine, it’s a lifestyle choice. Daring design and funky features make it just as desirable as its coveted location (in Cape Town’s fashionable V&A Waterfront district and by the sightseeing pick-up point), so you’ll be excused for ‘dining in’, rather than stepping out to your neighbouring bars and restaurants. OUIBar + KTCHN matches the mood of this bold hotel, with its vivid palette, sustainable ingredients, and unpretentious ‘street food’ menu – you can even pre-order on the RED app. The app also connects you with other guests for city tips, but you’ll probably prefer hanging out with them in person at the RED Roof bar and grill, with its rooftop pool, drinks van, and Table Mountain views.

We are sure we are not the demographic this hotel aims to attract, but we loved our three night stay! We are in our 60s but really enjoyed the funky and fun feel of the Radisson Red. A gin and tonic was a great welcome, then it got better with a room upgrade. The location of the hotel was perfect for walking (very safely) all around the Waterfront area. The breakfast was really great - there was something for everyone, with many healthy options as well as the usual hotel breakfast items. Staff were very friendly and helpful, even finding an empty conference room so one of us would not disturb the other during a middle of the night work call. The bed was really comfortable and despite stubbing my toe on the legs, the big 'kitchen table' in the room was a great area to spread out our laptops and papers. We loved the complimentary wine and chocolate in the room. A couple of minor things to improve were the paper cups in the room for tea and coffee, but they happily gave us china ones, and the fact that the rooftop was often booked out for private functions. But we would love to stay again if we are in Cape Town. Read less

Very different, with a young, fresh energy. I loved the place. The staff are brilliantly trained and go out of their way to assist. The room was extremely comfortable with great attention to detail, but the cherry on top for me was the breakfast. Anything that a health food freak could want, including a decaf cappuccino made with almond milk. My… Read more

We had a great few nights at the red. It was well located to enjoy Cape Town. We had a car and parked it conveniently below the hotel for a small fee, but walked or took an Uber most places. The design your own gin at the hotel was a fun touch, and the staff were very attentive. I’d read a lot of reviews about the breakfast being clunky, so we avoided it on our first day. When we wanted a fast early option we gave it a try, and I honestly don’t understand some of the reviews I read! The breakfast was plentiful, fresh, varied and quirky. I don’t eat a lot in the mornings, but could have stayed there all day. If there weren’t so much to head off and see! Read less

Enjoyed every moment of my stay - The place was "different" then the usual Hotels that we have been to because it was "RED"........felt the difference the moment we were checked in. The Roof Top has a very good view of the mountain and has a good vibe.

Very happy with room, modern, clean, comfortable, well equipped and exceptional views of the city and table mountain (if being picky pillows could have been better). Well located for access to waterfront attractions on foot. Different feel to most hotel brands, the excellent G&T on arrival was a great start. Staff very helpful and some nice details. We enjoyed the food and rooftop bar. Only negative was there were a lot of events while we there meaning access to the main restaurant and/or rooftop bar wasn't possible as unlike most hotels they don't have dedicated areas for events or areas large enough to accommodate them and hotel guests together, which was shame as you should be able to enjoy all the facilities whilst staying there as a hotel guest.
