The spa treatment was amazing. They listened to exactly what I needed and went softly over my lower back from a broken pelvis and focused on the spots of tension. They fitted me on the same day and are very accommodating. I can definitely recommend it! The hotel is also beautiful. I often go to Bistro 1682, their breakfast is really good, and… Read more

They fitted me on the same day and are very accommodating. I can definitely recommend it! The hotel is also beautiful. I often go to Bistro 1682, their breakfast is really good, and the tapas / small plates selection in the evening is lovely. We also enjoy the main restaurant Tryn for a romantic dinner. The setting and food is always top class. We are so lucky to have such a stunning hotel up the road:) Read less

This was a fabulous 2 night stay. Room and food were both quite excellent and were matched by the superb views and location. However, what made the stay was the quality of all the staff who were efficient, friendly and welcoming at all times. If ever I return to South Africa, this is where I would wish to stay.

Wow ! My only regret is not staying longer ! This was my favorite hotel that I stayed at . The room was impeccable, so very clean and inviting with heated floors, heated bed and heated towel rack and a comfy sitting area . There was also a private outside sitting area and amazing water pressure in the bathroom ! The bathroom was amazing with the deep soaking tub …. And the closeness of the hotel restaurant was a bonus ( where they actually remember and call you by your name ) … I also had a chance to use the laundry and wow wow ! So clean ! …. I spent by birthday here and the staff was amazing…. Customer service was outstanding! If you decide to stay here then at minimum book the Premier Room Double room and a full 8hr day spa treatment! You will not regret it . ( its called the Mind Body and Soul spa package ) … I travel around the world for fun…. For food and spas and this spa was one of my favorites! ( i also used their car service …for airport pickup and restaurant drop-off and pickup) and I used their VA waterfront shuttle and all was also great ) Read less

We spent 2 evenings here as part of a 30th anniversary trip to Cape Town. We were looking forward to staying here as we have always loved eating at their restaurant. It has always held a special place in our hearts as this was always our first stop after landing in Cape Town before we would even check in to our nearby hotel. So we thought that this time we would treat ourselves and make it part of our trip. So it's very sad for us to to say we don't think this hotel should be a 5 star hotel. The good. Their reaturants are outstanding, serving lovely top class food. But sadly this is where the 5 star ends. After more than a week of wine tasting, the wine tasting at steenberg was shocking and no amount of free tastings could make up for this. The person that did our wine tasting literally disappeared and left us midway into our tasting without any explanation to do a private wine cellar tour with other guests. We were left high and dry with no idea what was going on. He also was not very well informed about the wine or the Steenberg wine farm in general. Now for the hotel. When you hear boutique hotel , the first thing that comes to mind is friendly personal service. None of that existed at Steenberg unfortunately. The thing that was actually the deal breaker and that I can't believe nobody mentions in the reviews, is the damp smell in all their rooms. It is apparent that they have a damp issue in the main building. All the rooms have a terrible damp smell. They did move us but obviously all the rooms has this problem. We really think that this is a health hazard and should be sorted out as you are aware of if. We hated spending time in our room and it was quit difficult sleeping with the constant damp smell that left us feeling unwell. But the message was clear thats just the way it was and they could do nothing about it.Sadly we will not return when next in Cape Town. Read less
