The hotel

Set in the historical Constantia Valley, this hotel makes for a relaxing countryside escape whilst still being only 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of the city. Nine acres of leafy gardens surround two historic buildings, why not grab a map and explore, rent a picnic hamper, or have a go at some lawn games to make the most of these luscious surroundings. When you’re ready for a bit of city life, a daily complimentary shuttle is on hand to whizz you to the waterfront for a bit of shopping, or a bite to eat. The food on hand at the hotel is excellent however, with the aptly name Conservatory serving up a feast for breakfast and a range of top quality dishes when the evenings comes around.

Reservation system is disappointing. Booked via Expedia as per their requirements but received email that the reservation was abruptly cancelled by the hotel. We dined here in our final night in S Africa and it is always reassuring to return to a top class restaurant with first class service. The new decor was buzzy and made the vibe younger. All of our meals were delicious and beautifully presented.
