The hotel

Cape Town has plenty to offer when it comes to sightseeing, and The Commodore is perfectly placed for you to enjoy the V&A waterfront, Table Mountain, and Robben Island with ease. Upgrade to an Executive room to make the most of the views from your balcony on the top floor, or even to a King Suite if you want the extra space for your stay. The nautical theme runs throughout the hotel, from your room right through to the bar and restaurant, where you can enjoy fresh seafood and local wines. As you’re in the heart of the harbour, you don’t have to go far to find more restaurants and bars either, where you can while away sunny evenings in the oldest working harbour in South Africa.

The room was very comfortable and we had a great view out towards Table Mountain. The breakfast buffet every morning was excellent and the two times that we had room service was also very good (and hot). The location is fantastic in terms of proximity to the V&A Waterfront and also Sea Point promenade. Read less

The customer service here is remarkable. I mean it’s not service you get anywhere else now a days. They go above and beyond to accommodate and help with whatever you need. From booking tours to finding tanzanite, to even helping us before we left for the airport. The rooms are a good size, bathroom is also nice. We ended up staying here twice in… Read more

We ended up staying here twice in our 2 week visit to South Africa. It’s super close to everything on the waterfront making everything walkable to restaurants, shopping and touring. The breakfast provided was also phenomenal and included in the stay. Highly recommend! Read less

Go for an executive room with incredible views of Table Mountain overlooking Cape Town. Breakfast was excellent- great variety, and staff were very helpful and friendly. The room itself was spacious, well equipped and a massive comfy bed. All in all an excellent experience.

The rooms were lovely, clean and well appointed. Ask for a harbor view for the most spectacular views of Table Mountain. The thing that made this property stand out was the warm, welcoming and efficient staff at the hotel. From the front desk that helped us iron out and issue with our transportation to the food and beverage staff, they were exceptional. We dined daily for breakfast in the Clipper dining room and the spread was varied and delicious. The dinner service was also excellent. Hats off to Roczanna and her team especially Joseph in the bar and Elizabeth in the dining room for the exceptional service and making us all feel warm and welcome. We truly did not meet anyone affiliated with the hotel that did not go out of their way to greet you and enhance our stay. This hotel is truly and gem! Read less

The rooms are clean, spacious and nicely appointed. Our view of the waterfront and Table Mountain was beautiful especially at sunrise. Breakfast at the Clipper restaurant was fresh with many nice choices. After some long days of touring we were happy to have dinner at the restaurant and the food was very good. But...we all agree what really made our stay at the Commodore special was the wonderful staff. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. We especially enjoyed interacting with Joseph at the bar who was always efficient and welcoming. Elizabeth in the dining room was great (as were all the servers) and Roczanne (sp?) was keeping an eye on everything always making sure everyone was happy. We also liked the location as it was just a quick walk to the Waterfront. Would definitely recommend this property and hope to someday return! Read less
