The hotel

Cape Town has plenty to offer when it comes to sightseeing, and The Commodore is perfectly placed for you to enjoy the V&A waterfront, Table Mountain, and Robben Island with ease. Upgrade to an Executive room to make the most of the views from your balcony on the top floor, or even to a King Suite if you want the extra space for your stay. The nautical theme runs throughout the hotel, from your room right through to the bar and restaurant, where you can enjoy fresh seafood and local wines. As you’re in the heart of the harbour, you don’t have to go far to find more restaurants and bars either, where you can while away sunny evenings in the oldest working harbour in South Africa.

Super hotel staff were unbelievably friendly, accommodating and we felt so welcome. I have a gluten intolerance and the chef went out of his way to make some gluten free. Our room was cosy the location was perfect for everything.

The breakfast is decent and the service mixed (one gentleman was great and accommodating the other forgot our orders multiple times). The hotel complex is beautiful as are the views but the rooms let it down a bit. We found rubbish in our room on our arrival including empty drinks bottles on the floor. Also the WiFi is poor and there are no easily accessible power sockets in the room which I find astonishing. Read less

Great location. Booked a Mountain View room. Check in staff helpful and friendly. Room spotless. Load shedding times are on a board in reception. The power sockets do go off during this time so it affects the air con and tv. Comfy bed. Breakfast was super busy but plenty of choice. The lady greeting for breakfast and taking payment was… Read more

Great location. I was able to walk to the waterfront. I could see Table Mountain from my balcony. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The bar and lobby was a nice gathering spot. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Parking is excellent and easy. Staff were really helpful and rooms were comfy & spacious. The breakfast was great - loads of choice and not too busy. Also liked being served tea /coffee and not having to queue for a machine like seems the norm these days! Overall very pleased with our hotel choice in Cape Town after all the research and stressing about which area to stay. Read less
