I’ve been to Cape Town at least 20 times and this time wanted to stay near the water. With its prime location Table Bay should be one of the premier hotels in the city. Instead it seems to rely on location and views and nothing else. Customer service is weak, staff not well trained, room service takes forever, decor not updated since opening, etc. Really disappointing. But I see that they tend to get revenue from bookings through tour companies and especially from USA. Therefore they don’t really have to try. For the prices they charge, the customer deserves much better. Especially on surroundings (old decor) and service (some very nice people but crappy customer service - invest in your people!) I hope the management gets off their butts and actually do something to make this place one of the best experiences for travelers and tourists. Read less

What is a hotel without a decent room service? The Tablet Bay is a hotel property with a good location, well-appointed rooms, a plentiful breakfast buffet, and well-trained staff. However we ordered room service, and something as standard as hamburgers and club sandwich was awful. An essential part of of our enjoyment of a hotel is the room service experience — the lazy decision of staying put, resting after a day of enjoying the city. And if a hotel is not able to provide that experience, then it is not a 5-star hotel. Did I say that it also took forever for the food to arrive? Read less

I really wish I could give this hotel a better review, but I cannot. I staid here two nights, July 20 and 21. I understand that there are lockboxes in the rooms, but in a “5 star” hotel, one would think that the staff wouldn’t go through you things to steal the money. I understand that there are lockboxes in the rooms, but in a “5 star” hotel, one would think that the staff wouldn’t go through you things to steal the money. It truly is a beautiful hotel, friendly staff, beautiful breakfast, but if your things are stolen, none of that matters. In addition, I wasn’t the only who lost items, other people on our tour had clothes stolen. I just have to trust the universe that the person who stole my money needed it much more than I. By the way, I immediately sent an email to the hotel, but no response. Stay at your own risk. Read less

This is a nice hotel at a great location. A little old for my liking, but all in all good. We stayed there for one night and had no complaints really. Best thing in the hotel is the super helpful concierge.
