This is a first class establishment in all aspects and, for us, it was perfect to stay here the last three days of our five week stay travelling around South Africa. Staff was good all over, breakfast immense, lovely rooms and close to everything around The waterfront. Keep up the good work!

The hotel is excellent situated, rooms are super comfy and it’s staffed with wonderful, friendly people. My husband has coeliac disease and they went out of their way to ensure he had an amazing fresh breakfast every morning, we were so grateful to the restaurant staff especially Celeste and Amy (THANK YOUUUUU!) The bar serves great drinks, and the spa couples massage was a fantastic way to unwind after our long journey from the UK. If you have a chance definitely eat at Siba, too, it was an amazing experience and the food was up there with the best (again, they catered for our coeliac requirement amazingly!) All in all a fantastic stay! Read less

I am sure that this was an awesome Hotel back in the day. We checked in and it was a Luxury room. Cons: immediately the door did not lock (maintenance please); then lamp did not work; then there was hair in the tub…not ours, and the hardware/towel rack kept clanking to the floor. Oh and the tv welcomed some other guest, did not have our names. What really made this a terrible experience was that the room was next to the service elevators. What we didn’t know until we went to sleep was that our room backed up to the 2 service elevators. All night long and I mean all night long there was a whirring keeping both me and my husband awake. The noise sounded like a siren. We did not sleep. When we complained the manager, Tristan offered a discount. We did not ask for a discount. Well the next day, no discount. They refused to honor that promise. We did get an upgrade but we did not ask for that and it cost Tristan nothing to upgrade us to that room. If you do not sleep due to the hotel, well the hotel should as a courtesy give a discounted rate or comp the night. Pros: the Hotel is the lobby is gorgeous and the breakfast plentiful and fabulous. The concierge and the rest of the staff were welcoming and extremely professional. The rooms are adequate, and the showers literally run hot or cold. They do not work well and there are insufficient outlets to plug in iPhones, power pack, iPad, computer and Apple Watch. I would never stay here again. We travel quite a bit to Europe (many times) the U.S. and many other places and are titanium Marriott people so we know what we are talking about. We figured this hotel would be a treat. Nothing was further from the truth. The problems experienced and the poor customer service is unacceptable for this type of establishment. Read less
