From the managers to the cleaners, everyone was happy, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The concierge Dane, was brilliantly helpful. Juanita, who managed one of the restaurants typified the high standards. She was friendly great fun and hugely professional. On leaving the hotel to go on trips or visit Cape Town we were offered maps, cold water and friendly advice. It was apparent that ever member of staff’s collective purpose was to ensure guests had a great experience. This is how to run a 5 star plus hotel. Exceptional! Read less

We were a bit concerned at first at this hotel’s remoteness, but more than made up for by wonderful staff who couldn’t do enough to assist. The stay truly was the most memorable I've had. They made us feel special throughout the stay, the food/ drinks are fab and then there are the views... whether it was breakfast looking out to sea spotting whales or sunbathing staring up to the mountains that surround the hotel. I think I may have recommended this to all of our friends. The experience they have provided during our stay has bought our loyalty for the future. We will be back soon... post baby! Read less

It did not take 1, 2 or even 3 nights at this property to know it was one of the best we have stayed in during our travels across all 6 continents (or 7, if you count the Antartica expedition ship).  It only took the first hour and the greetings and tending to of staff as varied as porters, front desk, housekeeping, Azure restaurant hostess and wait staff, plus spa reception and therapists to convince us we had chosen a very special place for our first visit to Cape Town, and one that had little to do with the setting which is simply spectacular for reasons that have been offered by almost every single reviewer. After arriving on the overnight flight from Europe, we booked a massage for 2 for the morning as we thought it the best way to address 14 hrs. of flight on a discount airline. Plus, we were certain the room would not be ready so early in the morning. That was surprise #1.  A spacious quiet room on the fourth floor with side views of the Atlantic Ocean as well as Table Mountain from our private balcony - where we were promptly served two complimentary cappuccinos to aid with our jet lag.  A heavenly comfortable bed.  A large bathroom with separate shower and bath and locally-sourced toiletries (B/Africa).  Slippers and fluffy robes, coffee and fresh fruit plus bottled water all provided and replenished. The spa was a wonderful treat which included warm and cold plunge pools and a restorative salt water flotation pool, all of which we took advantage of after our treatment.  There was so much to explore in Cape Town and yet, it was difficult to tear ourselves away from the hotel. The complimentary shuttle to the V&A Waterfront was convenient and a pleasure to take as chatting with our drivers was half the fun. If we were headed elsewhere, an Uber would quickly make its way to the hotel and take us to our destination, though at the end of each day's adventure, we looked forward to returning to our home in Camps Bay...it was a pleasure to leave the bustle of wherever we had been that day, behind, as we made our way along the winding waterfront to our secluded hideaway. Each breakfast was an embarrassment of riches (as they say!)....there was such an abundance on offer, along with frequent pours of bubbly, all served by the gentlest and genuinely friendliest of staff we have come across in our decades of travels.  Possibly the reason we sat on that terrace looking out over the Atlantic (or back at Table Mountain) every morning for no less than 2 hours! Room service was efficient and the food beautifully presented and perfectly good.  On our last evening, we enjoyed dinner at Azure Restaurant (where breakfast is also served each morning) and Juanita could not have made it any more special, even presenting us with a "Bon Voyage" dessert, all while managing a wedding party in the adjacent rooms.  Similarly, and in the vein of exploring every nook and cranny of the property, we learned how to make gin - yes, GIN! - during The Gin Tasting Experience led by Byron, held in the hotel's Conservatory with direct views of Table Mountain.  We were gifted our creations at the end and only wish we had an additional day to discover more of the special 'experiences' the hotel has on offer. There was a minor issue with housekeeping not thoroughly cleaning up a water bottle which shattered during the morning servicing of the room.  After notifying the front desk, the manager on duty, Alex, sought us out on the terrace to personally express his apologies and rectify the situation as best as he could, given that we were checking out later that day.  An apology would have been sufficient but Alex's gesture was so unexpectedly kind, we were taken aback and even attempted to argue it with him...all to no avail. Many luxury properties across the globe tout the notion of having perfected the art of 'hospitality'....The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa is one of a handful that truly have.  Look no further than their exceptional staff. p/s Having stayed at The Lodge at Ashford Castle, another property in The Red Carnation portfolio, just the previous month, explains my review title.  Management would do well to have staff for its properties train at Camps Bay.
