The Vineyard is set in beautiful landscaped grounds, complete with tortoises, with stunning views up towards Table Mountain. The old part of the building has real charm and elegance. It's a large hotel with over 200 rooms but it's clearly very well run, everything works like clockwork and the staff were all exceptionally friendly, cheerful and helpful. The pool is large as is the lounging area which wasn't too crowded even at the height of the season and there is an excellent food and drink service at the poolside. In fact I thought the food was excellent throughout the hotel, particularly the extensive hot and cold breakfast buffet which I would describe as the best I've ever had, also dinner in the central restaurant "The Square" (we didn't try the fine dining restaurant Myoga). As a final plus the hotel demonstrates a clear commitment to sustainability which we appreciated. We chose the Vineyard on a personal recommendation and for its location which was convenient for visiting relatives in the vicinity. It's a little way out of the town centre but taxis are readily available and not expensive. Overall we had a wonderful stay here and I wouldn't hesitate to book here again if / when we return to Cape Town. Read less

We regularly meet for lunch on the terrace & have accepted that service isnt the strong point of the restaurant. Yesterday we had a lovely server -relatively new as we hadn't seen him before,he took very good care of us. He then had to leave as his shift had ended, was about to introduce us to our new server. We opted to pay with him as we wanted to thank him. Plan was 2 order after-lunch coffees with our new server. We ordered almond milk red cappuccinos & they arrived coffee-coloured. We questioned this & new server told us that they were definitely red cappuccinos as he had made them himself. We were at the end of our meal & just drank them. However, I still had some left & when we asked a passing server about the awful drinks he said "yes, sorry,we ran out of capsules & it was made with a teabag". We asked our server about this & he said that if we had any issues with it, we should've left more in our cups & that he would now "have to" call the manager. We told him that we should just be charged 4 ordinary rooibos tea,not cappuccinos. He never arrived with the manager & said with huge attitude "don't worry about paying",as he walked off he mumbled "I will pay for them myself!". Horrible. The service in the restaurant doesnt quite match the elegance of the venue. Our initial server yesterday was the 1st good service-related experience at this venue, very quickly tarnished by the 2nd. Speaking 2 others, the general consensus seems to be "great place, pity about the service" Read less

Steeped in gracious old world styling The Vineyard Hotel is also hugged by the prominent crags of Table Mountain. With a low slung design vocabulary honouring, till today, the original building this celebrated hotel with 8 acres of surrounding gardens now makes claim to a wine producing vineyard and a World Class Spa acclaimed Myoga Restaurant and of course tortoises of indeterminate ages. With multi faceted grace and beauty the public spaces are well integrated into the local landscape with soft decorative elements from an era past and comfortable furniture steeped in a quaint Cape vernacular. The hotel is surprisingly always busy with generational loyalty across the board. Recommended wholeheartedly for those who are not partial to big branded hotels that have a predictable hand. A great experience - special service and great food with great attention to detail and pleasing their clients. Highly recommended hotel to stay or just to go for a meal or a drink on the terrace during summer.
