Fancourt Hotel is definitely one of South Africa’s premier hotels. Set against a dramatic mountain backdrop, rooms are split between the 150 year old Manor House, which has been completely remodelled to create a boutique hotel and the main hotel, which effortlessly combines modern luxury with traditional elegance. A golf estate – Outeniqua and Montagu 18-hole Golf Courses are two of the finest you’ll encounter – a must for any enthusiast. Meanwhile, those intent on a spot of pampering are also in for a treat. Rituals inspired by the four elements: air, water, fire and earth form the basis of all therapies, ensuring you leave your tranquil surrounds feeling balanced and on top of the world! Dining can be as formal or as casual as you please. There are several restaurants to choose from, including La Cantina, which is ideal for all the family. For that special occasion or just because you want to spoil yourselves, Henry White’s dedicates itself to excellence in the culinary arts – open five days a week, make sure you experience it at least once. When it comes to sightseeing, there’s plenty to do in the surrounding area, including Garden Route excursions, a trip to the stunning Knysna Waterfront and trips into the wilderness to spot the 'Big Five'.

I attended a business conference, and the service was outstanding at every step, from the reception upon arrival to the porters, the room, the restaurant, the conference venue, and the staff were great.

We had heard so many positives about this hotel and were not disappointed. It felt like true luxury from the moment we arrived. I immediately messaged a friend with one word - WOW! There was a group of 200 staying but this did not impact on our stay apart from having to have breakfast in the club lounge instead of the restaurant.

We had been booked into this hotel by our travel agent as part of a road trip and had not originally planned to play golf. However, we decided to play on the day we left and were so pleased we made that decision as this turned out to be one of our highlights apart from one issue. We had a complimentary caddy . We decided to buy him lunch at the halfway house and also gave him a tip which we were told was not sufficient. We have reported this and the issue has been addressed by management so other guests don't have the same experience. If you are having a caddy just check in advance what is expected. It was a sad way to end our stay but apart from that everything else was superb.

As a golfing destination, Fancourt is hard to beat anywhere in the world. Absolutely world class golf courses and great practice facilities. And such a beautiful setting in the golfing mecca of South Africa.
