The hotel

Set on a secluded old country estate near Knysna's famous lagoon, Knysna Hollow was once a country estate, and the conversion to a hotel has been a spectacular success. 44 Garden Suites, all contemporary in style with air-conditioning, satellite TV, WiFi, Nespresso coffee maker, mini-bar fridge, private patios facing the swimming pools and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 1 child.
Family Rooms are also available. These adjoining rooms offer inter-leading passageways and can be converted into two double-room Family Suites.

It's hard to express just how impressed we were with this country estate. Two nights of luxurious living felt like 2 weeks away. Claudene went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed for a relaxed and comfortable stay. She is an asset to the establishment. A kingsize bed with soft pillows, and crispy white sheets makes getting out of bed in the morning very difficult. The bathroom has a huge walk in shower, and his & hers basins, sufficient shampoo and body soap for everyone, and a seperate loo for privacy. The breakfast buffet was fresh and beautifully presented. Dinner was excellent. We had tender lamb curry, and a flavorsome seafood curry. Both delicious. The waitrons were professional and friendly. If you want luxury in a beautiful garden setting, with 2 pools and padel courts, look no further. This is the perfect country estate to unwind, and recharge your batteries. Read less

Great Hotel, lovely grounds. Staff all attentive, friendly and helpful. Short taxi ride to central Knysna. Bungalows are very spacious with high ceilings and pool areas very pleasant. Breakfast excellent, would highly recommend this hotel on any South African self drive

Great place to stay in Knysna. Relatively new. Burned down in the fire and was rebuilt a few years ago. Grounds are peaceful. Room was comfortable and quiet. Front desk keeps the pool towels. Two Padel Tennis courts on site -- can reserve courts and equipment. Not expensive. Staff were very friendly. We had dinner here one night and it was excellent. Breakfast every morning was buffet and a nice selection. Load shedding affected hot water availability so make sure to check when it is while you are there so you are not showering near the end of the earmarked time! The place is beautiful and well cared for. The rooms were large, elegant and very comfortable. Had a massage in my room and it was fantastic. The food in their lovely airy dining room was delicious. I highly recommend this place as a peaceful retreat!

Only suggestion would be drink service and for someone to maintain the areas, clear glasses and towels. Rooms were large with a great bathroom. They were decorated beautifully and well maintained. Cleaners did a great job. Lots of coffee in the room and thick soft towels. The beds were comfy. Breakfast was a buffet which was limited and not always as fresh but they did try hard. Redeption, bar and restaurant staff were lovely. We did find on several occasions someone vaping in the restaurant and the staff ignored it. We didn't want to start an argument with a customer. This needs to be dealt with maybe some signs. Read less
