The hotel

You can sense the romance of the Victorian safari goer when you arrive at this traditional tented camp, with its vintage steamer trunks, sepia photographs, and old-fashioned hurricane lamps. Overlooking Nwaswitsontso River, Hamiltons Tented Camp throws you back into the 19th century, as you sleep beneath the canvas of one of its six elevated tents, nestled among Jackalberry and Sausage trees and linked by timber walkways. Drifting off to the rustles and calls of the bush, your Kruger National Park setting, in a private concession shared with its two sister camps, lets you wake to some of Africa’s most awe-inspiring wildlife walks, game-drives, and bush dining experiences.

We absolutely loved Hamiltons. Remote location but that just added to the charm. There are no fences at Hamiltons and the tents are connected by an elevated walkway. A guide is needed to escort you back after dark and just as well as we saw a leopard on one night and hyenas on another. The theming of the camp is brilliantly done. Food and service… Read more

Food and service was excellent and of course, the wildlife was the highlight. Definitely recommend Hamiltons. Read less

To sit and eat and have close view of a watering hole with the selection of animals attending was really very special. between the 2 safaris there were differences, this area you generally can't go off road, so does give some limitations of viewing animals closer, the trucks had roofs on which on occasions ltd visability in the trees, however we did have hot water bottles in the morning which were very welcome! Our tracker Harley was amazing, a lifetime of knowledge and easily put across to us on every trip. Full credit to all and a big thank you to Harley. Read less

The view was gorgeous, the rooms and decks beautiful, the food no matter if breakfast, lunch, high tea or dinner or the snacks during the game drives were always made with love. We saw lots of different animals in front of the lodge or during the game drives. We could benefit a lot from Hali's knowledge about the animals, tracks and plants during the safaris. We really enjoyed the walking safari with Hali und Marc. We will never forget our stay and hope to come again with the whole family. Read less

Staying at Hamilton's was an incredible experience. The staff are excellent - very friendly and accommodating and the food was unbelievable. We had Ostrich, Kudu and a wide range of other foods all of which were prepared by their staff of culinary experts. The rooms with their view of the river were also clean, well maintained and the small refrigerator was stocked with drinks. Additionaly, our guide Hali was exceptional. His tracking skills, and wildlife knowledge made for an excelleant trip. He knew we were very interested in the bird life and went out of his way to provide opportunities for bird sightings. We also went on a walking safari which was an unbeleiveable experience. We truly hated to leave. If you want a true Africa safari this is the place to be. Read less
