Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge

Kruger and surrounds, South Africa

The hotel

Among the Leadwood trees of Kruger National Park, and by the banks of the dry Mluwati River, six thatched domes sprout from the bush. The result is an intimate and memorable space to return to after safari game-drives to see the 'Big Five'. These rustic yet luxurious rondavels may feel traditional, with their earthy tangerine tones, organic materials, and geometric design details, but contemporary wood and glass panels unfold to reveal private decks, giving a modern twist that’s replicated in traveller touches like Hoyo Hoyo’s infinity edged pool, post-safari wellness treatments, and high teas with cakes and pastries.

The red, brown and burned orange coulour scheme just ad to the earthy traditional yet luxurious feel of the lodge. Each of the six units have its own viewing porch, air conditioning, outdoor showers and butler services. Amazing, guided game drives and nature walks, everything you would come to expect from a safari lodge. They serve amazing meals from the wood deck where you can spend your evenings looking at plenty of anthelpe and big 5 animals across the river. The perfect blend of African Tradition and luxury. A fantastic stay, we arrived and 5 minutes later were out on our first game drive, the guide was knowledgable and informative, because of the location of the park, he was able to access areas not seen by other park goers. The massage also one of the best I've experianced. lovely also to know that she and all the staff have a vested interest in the resort. We had forgotten it was all inclusive- so a lovely further surprise on arriving! Read less

The location is incredible, the accommodation is beautiful, the staff are so friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious! And that's before you even start the game drives. We had 2 game drives a day with our very knowledgeable and friendly driver/guide, Pharance, and with his help we were lucky enough to see lions, leopards, cheetah, buffalo, elephants, wild dogs and much more! I would highly recommend!! Read less

After a tiring journey from England, the warmth of the welcome and excellent lunch cheered us up and refreshed us for our first safari. The accommodation was interesting and comfortable. The food provided for each meal was excellent and the attentiveness, friendliness and service from the staff fantastic. Our safari guide was Tylan who was brilliant. He was personable, knowledgable and friendly. He was great company and easy to get along with, and we thoroughly enjoyed our times on our drives. Hoyo Hoyo is not luxurious, but is wonderfully comfortable and we felt spoilt and very well looked after. Would recommend to anyone. Read less
