Let me start off with the only positive thing I can say. The porters were the friendliest of all the staff. Other than that, nothing good. -Waffles and pancake/flapjack Station was low stocked, and when they did bring out more they were ice-cold. -Want a cappuccino? Let me start off with the only positive thing I can say. The porters were the friendliest of all the staff. Other than that, nothing good. -Waffles and pancake/flapjack Station was low stocked, and when they did bring out more they were ice-cold. -Want a cappuccino? Go make it yourself. -No teaspoons on any of the tables. -Whipped cream was so hard it was butter. -Got sent an email that told us the pools were heated and free. Would've been better if they were in fact even open, but were still cold regardless. -Aircon didn't work so room was permanently stuffy. -No in-room info book, so no menu or help guide. -Telephones, TV and WiFi not working. -only one item on the kids menu - spaghetti. -couldn't find the hairdryer, then finally found it plugged in the bedside draw, 2m from the mirror and couldn't reach. -shower pressure was so hard, standing under a air-compressed high pressure hose would have been more relaxing. -Friday and Saturday evening bar entertainment was so loud we could hear them perfectly in our room with the windows closed and over the TV. Made sleeping with a baby great. -second morning they made up the room and took all the linen for the sleeper couch with them, so no linen for thr sleeper couch on the Seco d night. -reception staff didn't care when we went to complain, just took our details and said they'd call us. A week later and still nothing. Nothing about our stay was 5 stars. Will not be going back. Read less

We just got back from a totally amazing 2 week vacay in South Africa. We stayed all over the country from Cape Town to Knysna to Suncity and Johannesberg. We were really looking forward to our stay at the 5 star Cascades Hotel in Sun City. However it was the MOST disappointing hotel that I have ever stayed at. Firstly majority of the hotel was under renovation, the pool area , the garden area was all under renovation. We were not pre advised of this. Secondly the rooms are too small with very old and dull furniture. There are hardly any lights in the rooms as well. Thirdly the breakfast was horrible. Alot of the food items were cold and some even burnt. We could hear so many guests complaining. Last and most essentially the staff, they seem totally uninterested, there's hardly anyone smiling. Infact there are times when they can be quite rude and arrogant as well. The only saving grace was that we described our experience to the asst Manager, Mr. Lee and he acknowledged our concerns and thankfully arranged us to have our breakfast next day at the beautiful Soho Hotel . Based on the price I paid, I was sent an offer that said my price included free entry to valley of waves, this is a lie since it was closed. They also said that their was a children's pool that was heated. Another lie, no pool was available, and the staff said they are no longer heated. Breakfast was dreadful, it may be included in the price but… Read more

They also said that their was a children's pool that was heated. Another lie, no pool was available, and the staff said they are no longer heated. Breakfast was dreadful, it may be included in the price but you get cold flapjacks, scrambled eggs that looked like mush, staff cooking followed no hygiene practices. No gloves are used. The internal restaurants offer bad service, this place is a joke. I have been to better 3 star hotels that put this to shame. If you're thinking of going to sun city as a foreigner don't, there are better places to stay for better value and more to do. The Cascades is a definite no no, you get better value at the cabanas. Let's talk about staff, the cascade porters were helpful and good. The concierge , well she might as well not be there, she has no clue about customer service or providing customers with good insight. She was on her phone playing when I approached, it was too much of an inconvenience for her to service me. Reception staff ok. Housekeeping, well let's say that don't take your shoes off, or walk with socks. Cleaning is not their strong point. My room was ok but not ver clean, shower was horrible, well let's say just bad. Actually I have just changed my mind, they are 2 star. Read less

The room and bathroom were very spacious. The staff were very friendly and assistet in any way. The hotel surroundings are superb. The free shuttle service from hotel to hotel is nice and there is a good variety of restaurants. The outsude elevators came a little bit into their years (very slow when they close and open up)

This hotel is so old and tired! The rooms have furniture that has been there for more than 15 years and it’s old, chipped and broken. The linen was worn and borderline threadbare. The hairdryer was screwed into a drawer, far from any mirror. The rooms have a constant threat of intrusion by baboons, making one feel unsafe and unable to enjoy… Read more
