We had a bit of a kerfuffle checking in - they could not find our reservation or payment, but it eventually was sorted out after a few phone calls. Our room was lovely, and the grounds were beautiful. Just never forget where you are - you are in SA where the wildlife is VERY different than Europe, Canada, the US, the UK, etc. As in monkeys and baboons are just part of the natural landscape, and they will enter your room and nick your bags if you leave your patio doors open. It's super cool to have them because you can lie on your bed and watch monkeys. But you just want to watch them. Don't forget they baboons. Read less

Spent a weekend at The Cascades in Sun City in April. Checking in was a breeze and had that 5 star feel to it. The rooms were fine, a bit on the oldish style but ok. Had a challenge with the hot/cold water setting in the bath/shower but got it right eventually. The room service is one if the best in recent memory. Its fast and the food is… Read more

Had a challenge with the hot/cold water setting in the bath/shower but got it right eventually. The room service is one if the best in recent memory. Its fast and the food is brilliant. The prices are even better. The breakfast selection is vast and well prepared. The squad feasted every morning. We did the Valley of the Waves on the Saturday and it was loads of fun for the kids. The best day though was the Sunday that we spent by the poolside at The Cascades. It had a real holiday feel to it with the beach beds, sand etc. Overall it was a great family getaway and we shall do it again. Read less

My list of issues :- One lamp only in bathroom working Shower leaked thru door which would not remain shut/poor seal Lack of sockets for guests to charge personal equipment Long wait at pool restaurant Bocado for lunch and not very hot food on arrival Music too loud at pool in order to relax and if you were having a massage it would be def annoying Entrance check in location not clear and ground staff redirected us incorrectly. Guest handling excellent at kerbside! Hospitality shuttle from croc farm never came so used welcome shuttle despite the call Plant on every table in cascades restaurant but not on ours Wine by the glass exchanged as end of bottle and not fresh…should not have happened ! Breakfast Pavilion next morning too cold with AC most guests complain at this time of year even waitress agreed but could nothing about it, took the edge off enjoying along lazy breakfast! Sorry guys but you deal with the crowds and not those who pay more for this class of hotel within the complex. Pricey for what you get ! Read less

We were at The Cascades Sun City for a charity golf weekend this last weekend. The SAMA awards were also on the same weekend. The music and noise went on till 4am.... and the noise and private parties in the rooms around our family made it impossible for my family to sleep on both Friday and Saturday nights. When my son-in-law complained, he was told that nothing could be done. This is totally unprofessional for a so called 5 star hotel. Surely paying guests in the Cascades should have been placed in accommodation so that they would not have to contend with music blaring and people behaving badly in rooms around them, especially until 4am. To top it all, we had a 4 month old baby with us.... so all in all we are extremely irritated by managements way of handling this matter, especially that the accommodation at the Cascades is not cheap.... we expect standards for the amount that we paid Read less
