So if anyone was thinking to visit any of the Sun City Hotels and or Restaurants, avoid at all costs. None of the general areas and or Restaurants have any air-conditioning, unless you appreciate dining at 20h00 in 30 degrees heat. Absolutely pathetic for a resort paying top dollar and receiving sub standard service!

We had booked a stay in a luxury family room at the cascades. It was close to the bar and it seems that the bar allows drunken people throughout the night. We had booked a stay in a luxury family room at the cascades. It was close to the bar and it seems that the bar allows drunken people throughout the night. I do wonder why there are family rooms if this is the case. The second day I ordered a glass of wine in the afternoon and the bar tender charged me over R70 and asked for my card. I asked him for a slip and the wine came out at say the R40 - to R50 mark which is what I expected. He then said he was sorry and what should he do. I asked him to refund me and I think he was rather shocked. I know it is not a lot of money but the principle. That evening the bar had drunken people at it even though it is supposed to close by 11 up to 1.30. The receptionist kindly let us move to another room but my daughter was too scared to walk past the drunks to go to the new room (can you imagine). I had to sleep with her and the noise and my husband in another room. Happy Family time. The bar is at the entrance of the hotel, and I do think that if the bar is to cater for parties to all hours of the night it should be away from children and not open. The receptionist and the security guard told me that all they could do was report the incident. No management at all, nothing, not even an email from management. At least the valley of the waves made up for the day, at least we got our holiday rest in the Pilansburg, Read less

The best thing about staying at the cascades was the breakfast ( staff are very good) thats where it ended, the room we stayed at was 206, every morning at around 05:30 we would be awaken by people talking very loudly walking past the room, probably staff coming on duty, on our last night there there was somebody having a party with very loud unappealing music, which seemed to be right outside the room window, this ended at around 2am, so we could not sleep. We thought that this hotel was 5 star after our stay it felt morelike a 3 star stay. The pool area is very beautiful but the food service around the pool area nots so good. If you stay at Sun City I would recommend the Vacation Club, Lost City or even maybe SOHO hotels. It is evident that The Cascades hotel is lacking good management, who were no where to be seen.
