The hotel

One of South Africa’s most sumptuous hotels, The Palace, a member of Sun International’s Sunlux Collection, was based on the idea of a lost African Palace. High Tea at the Palace is a must! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful. Best of all was Robert, the pianist, who was phenomenal. I could listen to him play all day.

This is definitely not a 5 star hotel! From the service to the room, everything requires attention. I have seen this hotel drop in standard from year to year. We waited around 30 minutes to be seated for breakfast. Simple things like room amenities and toiletries are absent. What is generally the norm in a five star hotel, has to be requested here! The use of the lifts by the staff to carry dirt and cleaning material is also just unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. Where is the service! I definitely would give the Palace a 3 star rating and will not return! Read less
