Our family stayed for the weekend at Franschhoek Country House and Villas, and what a wonderful experience. We truly recommend it and rate it exceptional across the board. The property is beautiful, atmospheric and full of character. Nothing is spared in furnishing - top quality finishes, linen, fixtures and fittings throughout. The rooms were exceptionally comfortable - both luxury and standard. The pools were spotless and refreshing and the surrounding area verdant and relaxing. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful without being overly attentive and in your space. The buffet breakfast was absolutely fresh and delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. We felt safe with Covid protocols being followed throughout. If you're thinking about a stay in Franschhoek, then don't hesitate - this is the right choice! Read less

We were 4 couples who spent the weekend in this amazing hotel and ate dinner and breakfast in the Monnaux restaurant. What an amazing time we had. The service was friendly and excellent. The food was to die for and the waiters (Nerbert) a pleasure. Thank you so much guys for a wonderfull stay. We will surely see you again.

From reading the other reviews, I wonder if we have all been at the same place or if we were just unlucky... One thing I must start with is that the staff are possibly the best thing about this hotel. We really found the place run down and in need of a bit of care. We spent a fortune on a villa room for a handful of nights and realised that all the balconies looked on to each other. So no sense of privacy whatsoever. If you want to feel like you’re living in an apartment block then go for it. You constantly have to keep all the blinds and curtains shut if you don’t want an audience when getting dressed. The room was definitely not cleaned to “Covid” standards as there were hand marks on the tv, the remote was dirty, the glass on internal doors had hand marks too and things just looked like they needed a good clean. The sound system didn’t work and honestly, the room really did not warrant the price we had paid. The hotel was quiet but then picked up on the Saturday and seemed as if they staff couldn’t cope. We lay by the pool and no service whatsoever. The pools are quite small and should there be two couples in the pool, there is no room for social distancing and no place to really swim. At the pool, bottles of water are laid out for people to help themselves but that was it. Sunday morning breakfast was busy and disorganised. Guests not wearing masks at the buffet when asked to do so. Flies flying all over the buffet spread which was quite unpleasant, and also glasses and plates were constantly running low. We ordered drinks to our room which also took some time and they left some items off. We also got charged for ordering small bottles of water, when they come complimentary with the room. For what it’s worth, I really do not think this is worth 5 stars. It’s a pretty average establishment that needs a good renovation and offer a bit more to its guests in terms of privacy and tranquility. The villas all look on to each other and really not worth the money unfortunately. Read less
