The Protea turned out to be a great choice for a two night stay in Franschhoek. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and also includes a good restaurant for dinner as well as an excellent breakfast buffet. The Protea turned out to be a great choice for a two night stay in Franschhoek. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and also includes a good restaurant for dinner as well as an excellent breakfast buffet. The hotel has a nice inner courtyard with a pool which we enjoyed after a day of touring the vineyards. The staff was super nice at all levels and made us feel welcome. A special “shout out” to Kobe who helped us arrange transportation to and from the hotel. He was a also a wealth of local knowledge. A final note - we liked the location as it was an easy walk to both the town and to the wine train station. Read less

Lovely friendly staff who were always smiling, watching the staff wait for their bus home all wearing santa hars and singing along gives me a smile on my face, fab memories . Very easy to walk either way around Franschhoek town to many restaurants and cafes and bars. Amazing live music every night at a nearby out door restaurant (Christmas day too which was really good fun). Always felt safe even at night walking home from the restaurants, security around the roads too. Hussar Grill on site at hotel was fabulous for Christmas Eve meal sat outdoors, best dessert ..we can still taste it now! Peaceful pool area, sipping MCC on a lounger on Christmas morning in the African sunshine...bliss 🥂 Faizaan Head of Reception...such a gem she really helped me alot whilst planning our trip and greeted me personally with a huge hug upon arrival. Stayed in the apartments across the street, great space pleased it had a washing machine Wierd thing kept happening with the Wi-Fi stopping access to many sites. Has an inverter so load shedding isn’t an issue Has private secure parking Lovely freshly cooked breakfast Easy walking distance to the whole of franschhoek

Very secure car park. We were delighted with our stay and will be happy to stay again. Lovely room on the ground floor near the pool with everything we needed. The food was very good. We had breakfast each morning of our four night stay and had an evening meal on two occasions. A very nice bar where we had a nightcap each evening. Two excellent bar men who were very friendly and pleasant and really knew what they were doing. All the staff were very pleasant and eager to please. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.
