Seemingly lost in the vineyards and foothills of Jonkershoek Valley, this hideaway is wrapped in hypnotically beautiful scenery – but is just five minutes from the historic town of Stellenbosch. Since the first vines were planted more than 300 years ago, Lanzerac Hotel & Spa has become a haven for oenophiles. And its legacy lives on, with its ancient oak trees, historic wine collection, original design features, and time-honoured viticulture techniques still used on this working wine farm. You can drink in vineyard views from your elegant room, which opens onto the estate’s gardens. And you can drink in the world-famous Lanzerac wines in the tasting room, after a tour of the bottle-lined wine cellar. On the off-chance you fancy a break from the wine, you can indulge in spa treatments or relax in the gardens with a picnic from the gourmet deli.

Brilliant end to our honeymoon

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights at Lanzerac as the final leg of our Honeymoon. It was the perfect way to end our journey, which had been extremely full of activities and busy things as it was a chance to slow down and relax in the luxurious room, beautiful spa and delicious dining options.
This isn't to say there aren't things to do actively there - hikes are available and the grounds are ripe for exploring, but we preferred to enjoy the more sedate-natured wine tastings and cellar tour. Every member of staff was a fountain of knowledge for wines. Genuine knowledge, not just reading from a script, they engaged in full conversations and showed real passion. We particularly enjoyed the chocolate and wine pairing and the seven course meal we attended. Despite the gastronomic sophistication on show, the waiter and somellier were warm and friendly (such experiences can be intimidating otherwise.)
Special shout out goes to the two waitresses we had during the breakfasts, Mona and Reney. Both were smiley, charming and really made us feel valued. It was a pleasure to see them both in the mornings (and later), and lovely they didn't judge us as we drank more than a few glasses of sparkling wine at 10am. Mona was the last person we properly spoke to on our trip and her friendly demeanor was a lovely way to say goodbye to South Africa.

This is a fantastic hotel for a real treat. Excellent service in a beautiful location. The rooms are large and luxurious, the food is excellent, and there are plenty of things to do in the surrounding area.

Superb hotel nestled in the heart of Stellenbosch. Luxurious rooms, excellent service, a real 6 star treat. Our family of four spent one night at Lanzerac and also enjoyed the sites of Stellenbosch, which are in close proximity.
Definitely one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at.

If you’re looking for a bit of luxury, then this is the place for you. Beautiful comfortable room, friendly and attentive staff and a superb location with lovely hill views but very close to Stellenbosch. We enjoyed lunch and dinner in the Taphuis as well as main dining room. Breakfast was all served to the table starting with a continental platter then wide choice of cooked dishes. Spa and gym are very well equipped. Complimentary wine tasting is definitely worth it.

We continue to review this and working to open up these options to more customers. In the meantime check out our FAQs to see if this can help answer any immediate questions.

Payments are being prioritised based on when the request was made, working in order from March 2020 onwards. We will always try to process refunds at the earliest opportunity, for requests before August our maximum timeframe is 120 days. As we are steadily reducing the maximum processing time for each new request, for refund requests made in August, we expect the maximum processing time to be 80 days, from the date the refund is requested. For those requesting a refund in September, we expect it to be processed within a maximum of 60 days, and then reduce to 30 days for refunds requested in October, before returning to normal levels.
To finalise the amendment, one of our customer advisors will phone you. We need to work through amend requests in departure date order so we can prioritise those with the most imminent travel plans, so you may have a longer wait than usual until we’re able to ring you back. We will help everyone that wants to move their holiday.
