This hotel is so beautiful, peaceful and the staff could not be more helpful. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere, it feels like a join a family, even down to a resident cat. Two small pools although we were here in the winter so we did not get to use them. I would highly recommend this hotel, two minutes from the centre, too. Will definitely be… Read more

A disappointing stay, mainly due to issues with our room. We arrived here having gotten straight on the plane after an amazing Kruger safari. After traveling most of the day, we really needed a nice, hot shower as it was cold (9 C) when we arrived in Stellenbosch. We were given a Superior Room which in the main house. The room was spacious and faced away from the street. That evening about 10-15 minutes of showering, the hot water shut off in the middle of my wife washing her hair. We reported this to the staff who said that the water heater is working properly and there were no issues elsewhere in the property. We waited about an hour to see if the tank would fill up so I could shower, but the hot water did not return. We were unable to move rooms because the hotel was fully booked that night. Finally, I had no choice but to take a cold shower. Also, the room heater was not working properly and the cold room felt even worse after having cold showers in winter. The next morning, the manager apologized and moved us to another room which did have hot water and was better than the previous one. However, the shower did start to cool down after about 15 minutes, meaning the second person didn’t get a hot shower. I will give credit that the hotel management tried to make it up to us. They asked us to choose spa services which they would pay for, but when we tried to book it, they said they were fully booked. Then they offered in room massage services, which we made the appointment for and cut our winelands tour short that day in order to make it on time. Once we arrived, we were told the massage therapist was running late about 1-2 hours, leaving us at the same time we had dinner reservations, so unfortunately, they couldn’t offer us the massage unless we skipped eating dinner. The hotel ended up comping our dinner that night, but does not make up for the time we lost from coming back from the winelands early, and for the cold shower/no heating experience. Aside from the issues above, the grounds are nice as well as the main lobby area. The breakfast was great and had many hot and cold options. It is overall a charming property with clean and spacious rooms, but there is a definite need of improvement in certain areas to make it feel like a true 4-star boutique hotel experience. Read less

It's very quiet suitable for couples, maybe not so much for families. There are 2 small pools but we didn't use these much. Our room was ready earlier for early arrival which was great & we received a complementary upgrade and prosecco to celebrate our honeymoon. Breakfast options were a little limited which is to be expected with a smaller boutique hotel and there is no restaurant for lunch/ dinner. We had a lovely little balcony in our room & the room and bathroom were really big! Lovely stay in river manor boutique! Read less
