We very much enjoyed our 5 night stay at the Avani Victoria Falls Resort. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We walked over to the Victoria Falls many times. We watched the zebras, and impalas grazing on the grass in the spacious campus

The Avani and it's sister property the Anantara Royal Livingstone are both located in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. The Avani and it's sister property the Anantara Royal Livingstone are both located in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. The Royal Livingstone is by far the more deluxe property but Avani holds its own. The two properties have golf cart service to within 50 meters of the entrance to Vic Falls, and between the two properties. Avani - Location - fab. a 10 min walk to the Falls. Wildlife on property!!! Zebras, giraffes, impala. You can get very close to them for selfies and photos - they are habituated to people...but they are still wild so keep a respectful distance. The pool area: stunning. There are umbrellas in the photos online but I don't recall seeing any while I was there. Staff: Friendly and helpful in all areas. Good attention to detail. Food: there were limited vegetarian options on the menu - pasta, veggie burger, veggie wrap, calzone, pizza. Veggie burger was good; had that a few times. The buffet dinner was closed at least one of the evenings due to "not enough people in the hotel to make a buffet cost-effective," I never used the buffet so I can't comment on its items. Breakfast was OK if you are a carnivore - huge options. I managed OK as a vegetarian - had the omelette station fry me up some veggies; there were roasted root veggies, beans, pastries, cereals and yogurt. No juices included - have to pay extra. Room: very nice. Bathroom was nice; hot water took about 5 minutes to come in. Shower spray was a bit weak but certainly enough to get a decent shower. Separate tub. Toilet ran all the time, but quietly. Air con: very good. Safe: slightly smaller than the standard room safes. not big enough for a laptop; had to lock it in my luggage. Housekeeping: My room was at the end of the hall; cleaning was done after 3pm. One day it never got cleaned at all (which is fine by me), but I had to call down to ask for water to be replenished Laundry: Great service. Out by 8am; back before 7pm. Transfers: The front desk arranged a taxi for me to the airport - 40.00 usd. Private company was 45. Activities desk: very helpful. I booked a helicopter tour over the falls. Pickup and d/o right at hotel. Sunset Deck over at the Royal Livingstone is worth it. Nice view of the falls' spray and the Zambezi. There's a market just outside the entrance to Vic Falls. Every stall has the same stuff, essentially. Cheaper than the same stuff at the airport. the people want to barter stuff (pens, bananas, socks) for their families in the village, so take stuff with you and you can get your souveniers free! The walk to the Zimbabwe side: Get a multi-entry KAZA univisa for both countries when entering either country initially (50usd; you can do it online); makes the border crossing much easier. The Zambia immigration is not far beyond the entrance to the Falls. Then you walk across the bridge. You'll likely be 'escorted' by someone selling something...I didn't find them pushy; they were very friendly and helpful. They, too, want to barter stuff. The view from the bridge is nice. LONG walk to the Zimbabwe immigration but there are taxis from the bridge in both directions for about 3.00usd pp. Masks and Covid vaccination required in the immigration offices in both directions. Entrance to the Falls is about 200 meters beyond that (all told, about 1.6km from Avani to Zimbabwe Falls). Park entrance is 30usd. The Falls: ponchos for rent inside the parks. TAKE A CAMERA COVER!!! You will get soaked no matter which park you visit. Take newspaper for your shoes; otherwise they will still be wet in the morning because you can't leave them on the balcony due to the naughty monkeys in the hotel!!!! Getting to/from Livingston: Taxis arranged via front desk. No idea of the cost. Getting to/from the Botswana border: I came FROM Botswana. I paid 30usd for the trip from the border to Livingstone and an extra 5usd to the Avani. That was private but I had to bargain hard, and I did let him stop to pick up other passengers enroute. Going TO Botswana I have no idea what it will cost you. I was told by my driver that it is 80Kwacha for a shared service to/from the border in a 7-pax vehicle. Read less

The hotel has good installations, a great pool area and a big area to go hiking and see the animals that life in there. We pay for dinners, but the buffet in the first days wasn't open because they were on low capacity. Positive point was the food that was good and the staff were friendly. Then all hell brook loose, when the hotel held an event for more than 200 people, so the pool was crowded, the service was awful, the ambience was ruin. Poor judgement of those who manage the place. Regrettably the standard of this place has dropped. I must add that I can only comment on the restaurant as we stayed at a neighbouring hotel instead. Having visited the Avani for 10+ years I can say with experience that the standards have dropped drastically. Regrettably the standard of this place has dropped. I must add that I can only comment on the restaurant as we stayed at a neighbouring hotel instead. Having visited the Avani for 10+ years I can say with experience that the standards have dropped drastically. My last visit, previous to this was 4 years ago and I noticed the standard was not what it once was, however having visiting a week ago it has declined further. Such as shame. We frequently visit Livingstone and considering this is a place that holds so many dear memories, I doubt I will visit again. The fish was small, lacked in flavour and was bad. The goat curry tasted like it was made in a hurry, tough, chewy and inedible. Pricey meal for sun-standard food. HUGE improvements need to be made here. Read less

IBMT Tours went above and beyond to make sure that every detail was taken care of during our 11 day Holy Land tour. The tour guide a d bus driver were amazing and the itinerary left no stone unturned. A highlight in the hotel choices was the Leonardo Hotel on the Sea of Galilee.
