I had a fantastic trip. Employed were helpful. Service at both the band the restaurant were exceptional. I will recommend the hotel with no hesitation. Interestingly the falls are very nearby and easy to access.

Enjoyable and memorable stay. Very friendly staff. Only problem was with the room keys not working after we stored them with a mobile phone or bank card. Annoying that we had to go back to the reception to resolve the problem

Overall the stay was amazing , restaurant should work on there timing for service and review portion size . Also the communication with pricing on family rooms wasn't so clear from the word go plus it was different from last times arrangement.

While in Zambia, we stayed at the Avani for 4 nights. It was over the Easter holiday, so the property was VERY busy with lots of children and families around. The property was nice, comfortable, and kid friendly. When we arrived in the country, we had arranged for a hotel pickup from the airport. It was about $90, but we’re we’re picked up in a very nice suv, with waters, cool towels and a very friendly driver. Arriving at the hotel property, we were greeted by the zebras who just wander around, and then by African dancers and a cool drink. The rooms were very comfortable - beds, showers, amenities, all great. As a self proclaimed foodie, the restaurants were probably the one thing that could have been better. The pool bar was very crowded and took a while to clean the tables, and order food. The breakfast buffet was the same thing every day, and good, but lacking a lot of creativity. There was an egg station, but then basically bacon, breads, potatoes, etc. The new sports bar, Teddy’s, was good, but again, nothing to really remark about. If you’re staying with a family, it would be perfect. For a fancy, or more food-centric, experience go next door. You can walk to the Royal Livingstone, which is a MUCH nicer hotel. It’s maybe a 10 min walk, but there’s also a shuttle that goes back and forth. If choosing where to stay, without kids and looking for a quieter experience, I would have paid the extra expense to stay there. But regardless, we were able to walk over for dinner and drinks a couple of times. The giraffes and zebras tended to stay over there, and there’s a beautiful patio to watch the sunset and have a drink. If you’re honeymooning, or just looking for an experience, this is a better option. From the Avani, you can also walk to the Zambia side of the falls - within 5 minutes you are there. You will want to see the Zimbabwe side of the falls for the views but this is really amazing too. You have to “check out” with a guard but it takes 2 seconds. There seemed to be many locals that hung around the property, having dinner, hanging with friends, etc. Children loved the pool and there were kids activities everywhere too. All in all, it was a nice property - and from what I saw - #2 around, second to the Royal Livingstone. Read less
