The Victoria Falls Hotel

Victoria Falls, Zambia

The hotel

Tantalisingly close to Victoria Falls, this grand hotel has views of the waterfall’s spray, the dramatic gorge, and Victoria Falls Bridge, with a private path leading you to the falls themselves in just ten minutes. And this means you’re also close to the attractions of Victoria Falls town. The falls’ inaugural hotel, it has a deep-rooted history dating back to 1904 when it was built for British railway workers. It’s a history still played out in its Edwardian décor and pool, in the High Teas on Stanley’s Terrace (accompanied by views of the bridge and fall sprays), and in the elegant dining of The Livingstone Room, dressed in white tablecloths and sparkling silverware. Victoria Falls Hotel hasn’t forgotten its local roots though, with African feasts and entertainment at Jungle Junction, and braais and beverages served under its thatched gazebos and around the pool.

Beautiful hotel, rooms, food, spa service and especially the people who work there. Beautifully sited overlooking the falls. Facilitated getting a Covid PCR test. Loved staying at a hotel with such history.

My family of 4 stayed 2 nights at the Victoria Falls Hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The service was exceptional, the food was great, and the rooms were perfect. The grounds are wonderful, with a view of the falls and warthogs and baboons walking around.

The Victoria Falls Hotel is beyond doubt a Leading Hotel of the World not just in reputation but in the exceptional service always offered at this hotel. There is not a thing that is too much effort. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the laughter is infectious! The hotel is a classical beauty displayed in her rooms, her lounges and other public areas and the beautiful gardens where the warthog, mongooses and vervet monkeys lounge about. Crying sounds from the hornbills echo from the giant trees and the smoke that thunders (Victoria Falls) clouds the horizon. Go and visit. But beware! It is very hard to say goodbye to this magnificent accommodation, service and food. Read less
