The Victoria Falls Hotel

Victoria Falls, Zambia

The hotel

Tantalisingly close to Victoria Falls, this grand hotel has views of the waterfall’s spray, the dramatic gorge, and Victoria Falls Bridge, with a private path leading you to the falls themselves in just ten minutes. And this means you’re also close to the attractions of Victoria Falls town. The falls’ inaugural hotel, it has a deep-rooted history dating back to 1904 when it was built for British railway workers. It’s a history still played out in its Edwardian décor and pool, in the High Teas on Stanley’s Terrace (accompanied by views of the bridge and fall sprays), and in the elegant dining of The Livingstone Room, dressed in white tablecloths and sparkling silverware. Victoria Falls Hotel hasn’t forgotten its local roots though, with African feasts and entertainment at Jungle Junction, and braais and beverages served under its thatched gazebos and around the pool.

There is so much one can say about the Hotel but suffice to say that it is amazing. We had a beautiful, comfortable and relaxing time. The staff at the Hotel was simply the best. The activities were organised for us by Sharon and it all went smoothly and effortlessly. The Vic Falls is currently at the fullest in decades we're told and was awe… Read more

I will hold this hotel in my heart until I can return. Everything about it is perfect - the view, the rooms, the food, the wild animals who live there, the old trees, the lawn, the service...but it is the people above all who define graciousness and friendship. In particular, Sharon at the front desk went beyond the call of duty. She actually took a postcard to the post office because I ran out of time, and has on her own time arranged for left-behind items to be sent to me. Just one more reason to love this hotel and this country. Read less

Wow! The staff are amazing! Judith was there to welcome us. All staff were amazing. A great round of applause of appreciation to Chef Paul who went out of his way to cook vegetarian dinners and veg sushi! It was absolutely amazing!

Our second time at the Victoria Falls Hotel and it was amazing as always. We booked this upgrade through our tour operator, Travel Discounters and we were so glad we did!! We are a Zimbabwean family who wanted to take our children to see the Victoria Falls for the first time. It was amazing to have the hotel to ourselves but sad because there are no tourists around at the moment (due to COVID). They’ve got very clean rooms and have good COVID 19 precautions. The staff are AMAZING and made us feel very welcome with special attention for the children. It was fun to see the warthogs, baboons, vervet monkeys and banded mongoose living in harmony in the grounds of the hotel. The hotel is exactly the grand old dame as it is known to be with a real feeling of history but also has all the modern conviniencies that you need. The traditional high tea on the terrace was incredible. We had a fantastic stay ( and extended an extra night). Highly recommend for locals and foreign visitors. Read less
