Six Senses Samui

The hotel

When you arrive at the Six Senses Samui the view is at once exhilarating and strangely familiar. The sweeping vista of palm-clustered islands and shimmering seas brings to mind all the fantasies we have of the Orient's beaches. The resort is made up of a stunning collection of bamboo-clad villas looking out over the Gulf of Thailand. At Six Senses there are only villas, most with a private swimming pool with polished wooden floor interiors. Following the renovation, all villas are fully enclosed and air-conditioned so there are no "open-air spaces" as such and the bathroom and bedroom have a sliding door that separates them. The restaurants and bars are open pavilions, deriving their aesthetic from the communal longhouses of traditional river communities. The view, the architecture, the style and even the temperature intentionally immerse the guest in the location. This is back to nature – without a hint of roughing it. Six Senses Samui gives you everything, including a comprehensive spa that offers every conceivable treatment in Asia.

We have just come back from the most wonderful 9days at the resort . The care and attention provided by the staff was fantastic . Not intrusive but very responsive to any question or query we had . Special thanks go to Ploy our GEM who was so knowledgable and looked after for our stay and came in on her day off to say goodbye . We spent time at the spa and would absolutely recommend the Indian head massage and Nourishing ritual treatment . The girls are lovely and very good at what they do . Everything about the resort from the food to accommodation was of such a high standard . We would recommend it as well as a trip out the the night market and fire show on the beach at Coco Tams in Fisherman’s village . Read less

This is a property not to be missed. Our villa and pool were private, we couldn't see another villa. The villa layout was great - bedroom and sitting area each with views; huge bathroom with soaking tub, dual outdoor showers, second bathroom and a walk in closet to hide the bags. Lots of seating, much of it shaded, around the private pool. The service was excellent. It was uninstructive yet offered anything that was needed. The property has a large main pool and a second pool by the beach. Occupancy was low so we had both of these areas to ourselves most of the time. Breakfast was solid with a wide variety of options. We had lunch at the beach bar and enjoyed the pizzas. The dinner menu was limited and was just okay. Our best meal, by far, was off the property at "The Cliff." Overall, loved the modern minimalist vibe. It was luxurious without being stuffy or pretentious. Know before you go: - There are lots of mosquitos. Use the bug spray provided in the room whenever you leave. Bring afterbite. - Prices were reasonable: Cocktails 300-400 baht. Bottle of wine 2,000 baht. Dinner entrée 500-100 baht. Hotel car to town 500 baht. - There is an empty in room fridge if you choose to bring any of your own beverages. (Stop at a 7-11 on the way from the airport.) - 10 minutes to the airport, then a 1 hour flight to Bangkok. Read less

I selected Six senses samui to celebrate my birthday and also belated wedding anniversary. We’ve planned to stay here since last year it was postponed from hotel because of COVID19, the hotel was temporarily closed for long time and asked us to choose between staying at another hotel chain or refund , of course we chose refund. Right after they reopened this year, we booked again on the first day and found out that the day that we want to stay is fully booked ( not so sure how it happened since it is the first day of booking for the reopening ) but never mind we chose to celebrate my birthday a week earlier. The response email and other communication from hotel was quite different from last time we’ve ever contacted them. No confirmation email, so i need to called and emailed them to send one for me and ensure that we will get the room for the whole stay. There was no email to select our preferences for our stay pillow types, food and others which normally they will send to us ,maybe the reservation team procedure was changed. When we arrived the service was fine, the staff/gem showed us the room , ocean front pool villa which we were not really happy with the view received, compared with the view we saw from other people on the same type of villa and on websites, because the ocean front should not really have any rooftop or building blocking the view. And we have 2 rooftops one on left and other one on the right blocking the view which is really annoying to see ( i have to ask them to make sure that the room was ocean front, not ocean view… still they insisted, but after talking with some other staff during the stay, they also mentioned that this villa should not really called ocean front pool villa because the view was blocked from both side><) I was so sad because i have requested and confirmed several times through phones and emails that we want a good view to celebrate our special events and we look forward to come here since last year. I was regret that i booked this villa type and received this kind of view, i should have booked for ocean view instead, if i have to see almost the same view that they provided with a lower price . Other than that everything was okay and then in the evening we found out that our back door to the terrace was broken, it can not closed from outside and was wide opened if we want to go outside for swim in our own pool. I have told the staff several times, 1st at dinner they told us that someone will fixed it while we ate dinner during the turn down (but when we go back still not fixed). The next day at breakfast, we told them again and they said someone will fixed while we ate breakfast ( we went back still not fixed) , so we need to call them again, this time we went out to the beach when we came back. now they were fixing the door, but not yet finished. So we need to wait for them to fix the door, and they offered us some drinks to wait while the door were fixed. Well, we try to stay positive and happy for the whole stay, at least to make ourselves happy for our vacation, no matter how bad we think it is. Or maybe we have too high expectations from our dream hotel destination. Anyway, Thank you for the whole staff at F&B to make us feel very good, their services were the best and can really make us feel better. Luckily the main pool was not so many people, so we can enjoy our swim with the view which we should have seen from our own balcony. Well we just hope that room management and service were improved. I’ve visited Six Senses Samui on the very first days of their reopening on 1-4 April 2022. My villa was number 22 - Ocean View Pool Villa. And I have to say that the resort was not quite ready to service the guests as the Six Senses’ standard. 😔 Firstly, the environment and the architecture are stunning with the perfect view of the ocean. They take a good care of facilities and all the trees look great. However, the serious concerned issues of my stay are the impression of services (staff & resources & activities & F&B). There are many down points of the services in terms of quality and quantity. I would start with the F&B; the breakfast had a small choices to order (at egg station) and the buffet line was lack of variety. But the real problem was the taste of the food! I personally didn’t enjoy the taste of almost everything on buffet line especially the noodle station - they’re tasteless. The first morning, at my breakfast, the sausage was served undercooked with raw meat inside. Also the in-villa food I’ve ordered on second night which was Kaprao Kai with rice and Pizza Pepperoni, they were not taste good and the pizza had only 4 pieces of paper-thin pepperonis on top.😂 On the third night of my stay, I went out for the dinner after I finished the Farm Tour (around 16:40pm) and back to the resort at 19:30pm, my room was not turned down yet! The two nights before my room was finished turning down before 19:00pm. I had to wait for the housekeepers to come and waited until they finished so I could rest after that. And!! I’ve found out that the shower gel bottle was empty which means they didn’t check the shower zone out. Also the the Farm Tour had great services but there’s not much plants and herbs (actually there’s no herb in the garden). The overall services of GEM was OK. I can feel and be touched by their service mind and good intentions to take care guests but as I’ve said before, the service was just OK. On the standard of this kind of resort, I usually got a Note Card wishing a goodnight after evening room turn down service. Yes, the services weren’t good enough for the resort’s standard and absolutely they didn’t have anything beyond expectations or make any impression to me. Lastly, I think it was my bad luck that the storm was hit the island with the raining all day since the night of 1 April until the last day when I checked out. I literally didn’t see the sun or any sunlight except the first few hours on the first day when I’ve checked in. So it was so sad for me that I couldn’t have a good photos to keep memories of beautiful villa in the sunlight. I wish my feedbacks will be received and reviewed by the concerned part of Six Senses Samui’s management. And I wish all the best for the future guests also the resort as well. Thank you 🙏 😊 Read less
