The Reach Key West, Curio Collection by Hilton

Key West, Florida Keys

The hotel

A Waldorf Astoria Resort, The Reach effortlessly combines the effervescence of a Mediterranean resort with a more romantic, intimate setting. Boasting its own natural beach — the only one on the island — it is chic in atmosphere but ultimately relaxing. Water sports abound, including sailing and kayaking. Alternatively, don your snorkel gear and explore a world beneath the waves — just as colourful and exciting as the world above! For landlubbers, Duval Street is 1 block away and offers a wide range of bars, restaurants and shops as well as vibrant nightlife which rocks into the early hours. Each well-equipped guest room is a home-from-home but more than that, you’ve your own balcony too — perfect for breakfast and pre-dinner drinks, the latter very romantic at sunset. Enjoy a steak or seafood at Spencer's By The Sea; they also serve a mean cocktail!

I don't even know where to start. I don't normally write reviews, but had to on this to help fellow travelers who are spending $$$ to stay here - just don't. We have stayed at this hotel three times in the last 5-years - WE LOVE KEY WEST. However, every.single.time this hotel falls short. Particularly in the service department: there is NO customer service, what's worse, it's rude, poor and apathetic service. We stayed at the St. Regis in Punta Mita and were blown away at the level of service - went back to our bill to compare pricing and The Reach was more $. You get nothing, but a bed and a nice beach - everything else feels like you're fending for yourself. I'm not kidding - if you decide to come here, do not expect to be treated well. Keep your expectations low. When we arrived, our room was NOT fully remodeled. Not kidding - the balcony was not painted (the rooms on either side were - a different color) - exposed sheet rock, etc. We called downstairs to get moved and they wanted to charge us and occupancy was low. It was awful. There were just so many things wrong with the actual property that was just remodeled; - Tons of missed paint spots - Elevator didn't always work - Staff were very apathetic (really did not care about guests) - Even the games on the lawn were all missing pieces so you couldn't play them - No activities - Beach staff were non-exisistant - The "Barefoot Billy's" beach staff didn't know how to use the equipment you rent - Electrical boxes in the hallways were always left open - Housekeeping didn't really "clean" the rooms - The showers had dirty washcloths left in them - sand on the bottoms - the lotion, etc. were not replenished (We tipped them every day even) The hotel is a joke. We will never stay here again. The ONLY, ONLY thing they have going for them is the beach. That's it. not enough to bring us back a 4th times. Read less

A manager insisted we would be pleased and if not we could leave. Well we were not. Grounds, hallways, elevators were all dirty. We paid extra for an ocean view which consisted of a sliver of ocean blocked by a tree. We decided to leave and find other lodging only to be slapped with an extra $150 charge. We called the manager 4 times but he never returned my call. I did call the home office to demand a refund. Under no circumstances would I stay at the Reach Key West again. Read less

The one downside is this is an expensive resort, so you might have to build up points to stay here. Read less

Key West was fantastic. The hotel contributed to make this perfect. We should only have spent more there! If we should come back it would be to this hotel! We strongly suggest spending at least 2 nights or more to get time to see and do all what should be experienced! We loved Key West.

We have been to KW 5 times prior, stayed at Casa Marina or DT & had booked this trip at the Dbltree, so when this new property opened for points stays I jumped on the chance and changed our resv as we wanted to be on the beach & closer to old town KW. Our stay began w/ a call 2 days prior to confirm details, I spoke with EJ and he assured us all was good. He was on staff when we checked in and took care of everything we needed, He is your "GO TO GUY" at the Reach. Thru our entire stay he was on top of our & everyone needs. Our room 317 was a nice standard double (we're not able to get a diamond upgrade this stay) & it had a good view of the courtyard and decent view of the ocean from the balcony. The rug had a curl at the corner which became a trip hazard but we learned to manage it. All rooms were revamped and decorated nicely w/hidden touches related to the area. Beds were very comfortable & cozy. Adjoining room doors are thin so voices carry from other rooms so note tone. Did not hear anything from above or thru walls, just door noise. Bathrooms are a bit small so keep in mind if you are a person of size like myself (6.5 & wide shoulders) shower is tight. really no issues with rooms but rug, all have refridge and safes. View was nice, looking over courtyard and had partial ocean view from balcony (rm 317) bit noisy thou from lobby walkway & elevator dings. What truly separates this place is the Staff- Four Marlins rest (trib to Hemingway) had good fresh food but the staff was "Off the Hook"- Mark, Ellen, Fernando, Ruestam, Francesca, & support crew were AMAZING!!!! Everyone remembered our names & made us feel so welcome Daily! additionally EJ called the CM one night to make sure we could be seated at the sister property for the Nat Champ game and drove us over in their shuttle. Beach staff daily was always ready to get lounge chairs, umbrellas and towels, not to mention beach wait staff bringing drinks and complementary Italian ice pops while sunning. Breakfast daily was great (discounted if HH Diamond) & never disappointed. There is a local bus you can get on fro free two blocks from hotel, little deli/store half black away & 3 blocks from Southern most point Buoy. only minor issue we had was at check out, our travel companions had some accounting issues with regard to room charges but it was remedied properly and all was fine. We will stay here again, STAFF MADE OUR STAY! this is the biggest point I can make w/ this review,(4.5 if i could & would have been 5* if not for the rug, room noise from connecting rooms and small check out issue). I will add pics in shortly, Well Done Curio Reach KW! Read less
