The Reach Key West, Curio Collection by Hilton

Key West, Florida Keys

The hotel

A Waldorf Astoria Resort, The Reach effortlessly combines the effervescence of a Mediterranean resort with a more romantic, intimate setting. Boasting its own natural beach — the only one on the island — it is chic in atmosphere but ultimately relaxing. Water sports abound, including sailing and kayaking. Alternatively, don your snorkel gear and explore a world beneath the waves — just as colourful and exciting as the world above! For landlubbers, Duval Street is 1 block away and offers a wide range of bars, restaurants and shops as well as vibrant nightlife which rocks into the early hours. Each well-equipped guest room is a home-from-home but more than that, you’ve your own balcony too — perfect for breakfast and pre-dinner drinks, the latter very romantic at sunset. Enjoy a steak or seafood at Spencer's By The Sea; they also serve a mean cocktail!

The Duval Loop free bus was a 5 min walk from the hotel allowing us to get where we wanted to quickly if we had reservation. Top quality property with a very nice breakfast including a credit for Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond members. Beach service was great. Read less

Agreed, this resort is not worthy of the Hilton Curio Collection. Our room 544 was a beautifully remodeled suite with a nice view of the ocean, but the staff definitely has some kinks to iron out. Agreed, this resort is not worthy of the Hilton Curio Collection. Our room 544 was a beautifully remodeled suite with a nice view of the ocean, but the staff definitely has some kinks to iron out. The remodeled areas are very nice and it is a super clean property. It's nice that the showers offer shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel rather than the little bottles. Pros: -The beach is well maintained and the towel guys really hussle to get your chair etc. -Staff is friendly and helpful. -Location to other bars and restaurants off Duval is good. - Conch fritters and fish taco's were good. -Although drinks every where on KW island are pricey, they are well made and not watered down. Cons-- -The elevator to the east wing broke down and it took 1-1/2 days to fix. -The super agressive Sea Gulls that attack your plate of food, and not much being done to rectify that, at both properties. -Inconsistent food. I had eggs benedict with hard poached eggs, not so good, but egg on avocado toast was perfectly poached. -Adult pool at WA is packed, so unless you get there early--no chair for you. Read less

The restaurant has a great view of the ocean, but our dining experience was spoiled by inexcusably bad food. My steak was tough, overcooked, and dried out. The sauce was A-1 steak sauce, hardly gourmet! My wife became ill from her undercooked fish. I tried to call the head of food service, but my call was never returned.

Pool was nice, beach is great. Access to the nearby sister property Casa Marina provided an excellent adults-only pool with full bar and snack service. Daily breakfast at The Four Marlins restaurant was great, along with its 5-6pm daily happy hour with half price drinks. The location is great with direct beach access, short walk to Duval Street and nearby restaurants, valet parking, complementary shuttle to/from Casa Marina, on-site restaurant, an “Escape Room” and various game activities in the courtyard. A small resort with a big welcoming personality... this was exactly what we were looking for in our Key West vacation. Read less

This was my second visit to The Reach and my first visit since the operator changed from Waldorf to Hilton. In general the hotel is great... the beach and the pool are excellent. The restaurant is OK but seemed expensive for what was on offer. Without any loyalty benefits it would be very easy to spend over $200.00 per day for breakfast, lunch and dinner for two people. Refurbished rooms are very nice. Beach staff are great...always helpful and always have useful information about the area. Restaurant staff seem to have slightly less ability in communication but they will get there. My only warning...beware of wedding partys. The music was way to loud and went on far too long... Also whatever rate is quoted for rooms will also attract "resort charge plus taxes" which adds around $50.00 per night to the rate. Read less
