We loved The Reach in Key West! We had a great experience and especially loved the beach and pool area! The room was very nice too and very comfy beds! We have been to Key West three times and this was the best place we have stayed yet! We will definitely be back!

I chose to book this resort because it was offered through the AMEX Platinum Hotel Collection with benefits of a room upgrade and a $100 stay credit. I also wanted to be on the water. We’ve stayed in many different hotels and B&B’s in Key West but never here. The rooms looked good online and I’m a Hilton Gold member, so I booked it. I called two weeks ahead of time and requested an early check in because we’d be arriving by 12pm. I called when we arrived and was told the room wasn’t ready but to check with the front desk and they’d prioritize us, though only a 4pm check-in was guaranteed. We did so and were told we’d been upgraded to a suite which sounded great so we went to the hotel restaurant and had a long lunch to pass the time. We came back around 2pm and the room still wasn’t available. I finally got a text at 3:35pm that we could check-in! I was assuming the room would be immaculate after the long wait. We got to the “suite” and what a huge disappointment! Yes, it was twice the size of a room but it was missing furniture and the furniture that was there was beat up, stained, had long dark hairs hanging on it and the vinyl chair at the desk was scuffed and ripped with stuffing hanging out of it. There was no coffee table or side tables or lamps, just one standing lamp that had been taken from the bedroom. Worst of all was the bathroom! The sink was barely hanging from the wall with pounds of caulk that was coming unstuck and the bathtub had big black scrapes with rust stains. This felt more like a college Spring Break cheap hotel than a 4 star Curio Collection resort. That night when I went to wash off my make-up we realized the housekeeper hadn’t provided any washcloths. The next morning we went for breakfast at 9am and stopped by the front desk to request the room be cleaned before 11am. We sent several requests thru the day but it was still not cleaned by 6pm. The next day, the same thing happened only when we came back to the room at 2pm, someone had stripped our sheets and left the comforter balled up on the bed and left. Finally, the manager and a group from housekeeping came up to see the room and get it fixed. We were given $250 in room credits for the inconvenience but I’d have preferred to not have the inconvenience. We asked for a late check out of 4pm Monday afternoon as our boat didn’t depart until 6pm and there was no one set to check in to our room on Monday, but they hassled us and said they couldn’t do it. Finally, on Sunday night the night manager agreed to a 3pm check out. All this being said, the staff at the restaurant, the pool and the beach were all wonderful! They always had a smile and were ready to help! The beach was nice, the bed in the room was comfortable and the air conditioning was nice and cold. I just thought that when you spend almost $700/night for an anniversary get-away vacation you shouldn’t have to beg for a clean room or a proper bathroom. I will NEVER stay here again for this reason! The sister hotel, Casa Marina was just renovated-that’ll be my next stop! Read less

My husband and I stayed at the hotel over memorial weekend with good friends of ours. For the amount of money we paid and it being a Hilton, we were very disappointed in our trip. Only one elevator worked for the first few days. The last couple of days of our trips both elevators were broken. I had a broken ankle and when I asked about another elevator I was told "Stairs can get you to the 4th floor." We rented a cabana at the sister property and had barely any service from the waitress. Each time we had to flag her down. We ordered food and it was dropped off without silverware. When we asked about silverware it was like we were putting her out. For what we paid for the cabana it was a very disappointing experience. We had requested housekeeping for 2 of the days we were there. On Saturday housekeeping didn't come to our room. We ran out of towels on Monday and had scheduled for that day. We get back to our room around 4pm after being gone all day and no housekeeping. My husband went to the front desk to get towels and ask for housekeeping to come after 6:30 as we were getting ready to head out to dinner. 20 minutes later we have a knock at our door and it's housekeeping. The one bright spot was the bartender Bobby at the restaurant. He was very friendly, and helpful. The other waitresses around the pool area, not so much. They were very short with not just us but other guests. We checked out on Tuesday morning and the lady at the front desk asked how our stay was. I made a comment like, "Well..." and her only response was, "Yeah challenging?" No, "Sorry to hear that." The grounds are nice, however some of the rooms are less than desirable. Our friends room had a heavy smell of pot due to their lovely neighbors. Front desk wasn't helpful as their response was "we are booked." Read less

We interacted with the front desk several times and everyone was helpful—especially the woman who was working 3-11 each night we were there. Room was large and nicely updated. Pillows were comfortable. Grounds are a bit smaller than expected, but beautiful. We ate 2 meals (breakfast and lunch) at Four Marlins and were impressed with both. (The iced coffee at the restaurant is better than the iced coffee in the shop!) We rented a daybed on the beach. We were pleasantly surprised by the low price compared to other resorts we’ve stayed at. Beach drink service was a bit slow. We don’t drink fast/a lot, so it wasn’t a huge issue for us, but for others it might. One thing I found weird was the server always came behind the bed and we had to awkwardly turn to speak to her or accept our order. Pool was also nice. We didn’t order anything here, but service seemed quicker even though we paid for the bed on the beach. We selected based on distance from most activities on Duval. We love having to walk on vacation and moving a bit each day. It’s a bit more than a mile to the busy end of Duval, so keep that in mind if you don’t like walking. Loved Key West and will definitely stay at the Reach again if we return (which we plan to do!) Read less
