Image of the Tripadvisor rating A excellent place to stay to get a feel for the area.

This hotel has more character and feel for the area than any of the "big" chain hotels. The staff and management are very accommodating and treat you like people. Location is right next to Adventure Center for manatee swims and boat tours then there the pool, bar and grounds to return to. I would stay here again. Allen F

Rooms are just adequate, poorly lit, with rusty hinges on doors, a tub/shower that was dated. Upon arrival and unpacking we had only 5 of 8 hangers plus one of the lights in the bathroom was out. Called the front desk and was told they couldn't help with hangers and that maintenance would replace the bulb the next day. We left 4 days later… Read more

"Acquired" some hangers from a laundry cart on the 3rd day. Bar was minimal with poor service and expensive prices. Limited menu for dinner, again expensive and mediocre. Not a great experience! The place was dirty. I could hear the guy next door take a pee. The carpet was really dirty. The beds sucked. Coffee good. It is old and way over priced. I was so disappointed. The photos looked so nice. I didn’t even want to take a shower. Left next day
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Just don’t stay here, especially don’t stay in room 237.

Appears pretty nice from the outside. Check in was ok, the guy up front seems pretty overwhelmed, there were only a couple folks down at the desk. The guy just seemed worn out. Appears pretty nice from the outside. Check in was ok, the guy up front seems pretty overwhelmed, there were only a couple folks down at the desk. The guy just seemed worn out. Our room-first thing I realized is the door lock was partially broken. The key card worked, but someone had torn off the top of the lock. I’m pretty sure if someone wanted to get in while we were not in the room they could easily do so. Our room appeared to be the only one that had a door lock partially broken. Our shower had significant wear and tear. I mean this thing looked like someone beat the Hel* out of it. There was no stopper. The room looked old and in need of a deep clean. Our window had been broken and taped up. There were spider webs around the AC unit on the wall. The TV wouldn’t work and someone had to come reset it due to internet difficulties. I’m pretty sure there is an AI assistant that was texting me after check in asking about our stay so far. I explained all of this, and its response was sorry about that. The beds were ok. I get the impression there isn’t much cleaning going on and they are understaffed…which is how many places are these days. The pool was nice. The food was pretty good at the Restaraunt on site. The servers took a while but were generally nice. Me wife came here with our youngest a year ago and had a better room experience. I thought, no way I would ever come back to this place. They send you a “please review your experience email” afterwords and I wrote the same thing to them as I have here. I got a “sorry for your experience” email back. The room we stayed in, 237, should be closed and never be given to anyone. Beware, if you get 237, just go ahead and ask for another room. You could not pay me to go back. I felt like I was ripped off and no one at this place gives a rip. Read less

We stayed at the Plantation on Crystal River for a family wedding. I want to give proper dues to the team members at the resort. From the first smile we received when we arrived to the time we left, the team members were each and every one very pleasant, friendly, smiley, and helpful. We were there 5 nights, and felt like we were known as well as the regulars! CJ, Eileen, Kelly, Shontae, Angie, Shelly, Deena (bartender, may have name wrong), and others were stellar. The two housekeeping ladies in the wing housing 118-134 were hilarious and totally helpful. Even groundskeepers would look up from their tasks to smile, wave, say Hi! The grounds are lovely and relaxing. The water is always right there. The pool area is absolutely perfect. Henry and his team at the Adventure Center are great! Make sure you do a Manatee cruise, a sunset cruise, or rent a pontoon for the day. The Wedding and Reception were just perfect. The gazebo on the point by the river was SO romantic. We could not have ordered more beautiful weather and a gorgeous day! The Service team, facilties, food, drink - all just 5-star+! The Magnolia room was so elegant and classy! My only concerns are the new management philosophies and the way the teams are treated by the higher ups. Management: Your teams ARE your resort! Period! End of discussion. Do NOT treat them like disposable workers, treat them like your highly valued team. They already treat guests great! Give them reason to do it even better! When the team members spend a lot of their time backpedalling because of management systems, they cannot spend all of their time taking care of the guests. I was informed that the guest rooms will be undergoing full renovation in segments over the next couple of years. Properly done, and if management pulls a 180 on their philosophies, I would easily rate this 5-Stars overall. Read less
