The website for this resort is VERY misleading! From looking at the website you would think that it was a first rate resort, don’t be deceived!!! The room we stayed in was a “suite” which meant a standard king room with a useless dining table and a mini refrigerator. The bathroom is basic and in need of renovation. We ran out of soap and toilet paper during our stay and the cleaning staff was too clueless to replace them. We had a very large palmetto bug on the ceiling which was disgusting! The hallways were not swept or mopped during our four night stay. The only restaurant one the property is okay at best, and certainly not as advertised. The menu is limited and unimaginative. The front desk staff seemed uninterested in serving anyone. The gym had an empty water dispenser and zero clean towels. If you are going to Crystal River I recommend you find a better place to stay. Beware of Plantation on Crystal River - Not happy $45 resort fee not prominently displayed on their website when making a reservation. Mentioned it to manager upon check-in who was not helpful. There's a smell wafting thru lobby area that's a cross between mold and urine. Hallways also had a moisture smell. The room was icky - there was a… Read more

There's a smell wafting thru lobby area that's a cross between mold and urine. Hallways also had a moisture smell. The room was icky - there was a portable dehumidifier in room, signifying moisture. Bathroom had an old scratched up tub ... bathroom tile had mold build up. Don't think its healthy. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Superb Staff! But the whole place needs refurbishing!

May 20, 2024 PattiP313 Southwest Gulf Coast, Florida

My parents used to visit the Plantation Resort in its heyday, so I was sad to see how badly it is in need of refurbishing and repair. Some areas have been redone nicely. We had problems in our room with a bathtub spout that leaked constantly…for five days! The hotel staff said it was unfixable…then why would you put anyone in that room? And we… Read more

We had problems in our room with a bathtub spout that leaked constantly…for five days! The hotel staff said it was unfixable…then why would you put anyone in that room? And we NEVER had a hot shower, the water was only tepid! The hotel said we needed to adjust when we showered.say what? The staff was superb, friendly and service was excellent. We enjoyed our hotel-arranged fishing trip. They just need to fix the place up and refurbish the bathrooms. We also found the lack of elevators in our building difficult. Read less

This is a hard review to write. What makes it difficult is the people working at the resort. The front desk, the housekeeping staff-everyone we encountered was SO friendly and helpful. To be honest, that makes this kind of thing worse, because the missing stars are NOT their fault. The property is SO run down, and has just not been maintained well… Read more
This is a hard review to write. What makes it difficult is the people working at the resort. The front desk, the housekeeping staff-everyone we encountered was SO friendly and helpful. To be honest, that makes this kind of thing worse, because the missing stars are NOT their fault. The property is SO run down, and has just not been maintained well at all. Upon walking into the lobby, there is a strong urine/mildew smell. The buildings are damp, and there is no central ventilation-just wall units in rooms. I see the housekeeping working so hard, and they are so accommodating, but they are fighting a losing battle. Paint is chipping off most surfaces, the floors are filthy, the outlets don’t work, the lamps don’t work, the bathrooms are rusty and mildewed, the stoppers in the sink/tub are broken and rusted out…the list goes on and on. We didn’t complain to management during our stay because the list was just overwhelming, and judging from the number of electrical and maintenance issues we saw, our list wasn’t practically solvable. Luckily the beds and sheets were clean, and we used the room to sleep. The pictures of this property are so deceptive. They must be airbrushed-it is just very shabby in person. Although the staff is so, so lovely, we would not return. Read less

Skip this hotel. We had a 2 queen (actual double) room in the building just to the right of reception. It was $175 for 1 night - then they charge an additional resort fee per person. Upon entering the room, the mold smell was evident, they do have a dehumidifier. Bathroom floor was disgusting, clean feet were dirty after walking on it. Tub was stained and literally falling apart. All of it was lipstick on a pig. Stains slightly painted, things just haphazardly "fixed". We found pills and debris in the room in corners and behind curtains. It was just simply not clean, and definitely not one of the refurbished buildings. The grounds themselves are tired. We overlooked it all because we were there and it was one night .... until the weed smell and fire alarms. Our building hallway reeked. Then the alarm was going off thanks to to those partaking. At that point we decided $200+ was waaaaaay too much. Skip this place. Hard pass. So over priced. To their credit, they refunded us without a fuss. Hampton Inn around the corner is lovely and for less we got a suite. Super clean, convenient, air works. Go there! Read less
