We have stayed at Pink Shell multiple times, this was our first since Hurricane Ian and the resort is as awesome as it was before. We stay in the Captiva building and the gate to the pool isn’t back up yet so we had to walk through the main building to get to the pool but not a big deal, and something only return guests would know about. This visit we did a kayak tour with Ranger Rob and it was so great, even our kids enjoyed it. But they love Rob so we weren’t surprised. He is incredibly knowledgeable and very passionate about his work. We are so thankful Rob is back after the hurricane, the resort is lucky to have him! Read less

The highlight of our stay was meeting Ranger Rob! We spent a morning on his guided kayak trip exploring the waterways in and around San Carlos Bay. His knowledge of the local shells, birds and sea animals is exceptional. A zoologist and conservationist, his passion for nature Is infectious and he has a great way of explaining things to both kids and adults. He reminded us of the late Steve Irwin. Read less

What a special place the Pink Shell Resort is. My family and I made our first visit to the Pink Shell last week for a six-night stay to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and what a great time we had. Of course the property itself is beautiful, right on the beach and newly refurbished after coming back from Hurricane Ian. Our 2-bedroom suite was spectacular, spacious and immaculate, with unbelievable views of the Gulf. The resort is family-friendly with daily activities for kids, but could also be a great romantic getaway for two. The main pool (the Octo-pool) is so fun and lively, while the two satellite pools are smaller and quieter if that’s the vibe you prefer. A daily amazing “full” breakfast at Jack’s restaurant, steps from the pool deck, was included in our room rate. And Bongo’s (the pool bar and grill), as well as Bob’s Beach Bar, are so convenient that we were never far from something good to eat or drink, and we took advantage of both several times during our stay. Rae’s (a more formal Italian restaurant) is also located just off the pool deck. Add the soft white powder sand beach just outside the pool deck gate, and the gorgeous nightly sunsets over the Gulf, and you’ve got an amazing resort. However, all of that wasn’t even the best part of our stay. By far, what makes the Pink Shell such an enjoyable, unique destination is the staff. It’s impossible to overstate how friendly and attentive each and every staff member was during our stay. Everyone with whom we came in contact made it clear that they love and take pride in their resort, that they genuinely enjoy being there every day, and that their main goal is to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. Just a few of the wonderful staff members who made our stay memorable were Denise and Carlos at the front desk, Danielle and Kyle at Jack’s breakfast, not to mention Moses the omelet magician at Jack’s, and of course Pam, the sweet recreation director, who we enjoyed seeing and talking to every day for our poolside activities. And on the beach, though we didn’t get specific names, the amazing beach chair and umbrella staff didn’t let us lift a finger, seemingly always there to move chairs and plant umbrellas wherever needed. But by far the best part of our time on the beach was meeting the Pink Shell’s naturalist Ranger Rob, and joining him on his guided morning nature beach walk, his sunset beach walk / shell hunt, and his nighttime stargazing session. Ranger Rob was so patient, kind and funny, interacting with kids and adults alike, answering any questions thrown at him about Estero Island, the local shells, birds, sea life and nature in general. (“I can just tell you that’s a shell, or I can go all National Geographic. Whatever you’d like!”) The highlight of our time with Ranger Rob was definitely his 2-hour wildlife kayak tour, during which my husband and two college-age daughters had a blast exploring the waterways and mangroves adjacent to the island. They saw dolphins, manatees, turtles and even a small shark. Two friendly dolphins played alongside the group, and then swam right under my husband’s kayak! Needless to say, by the end of our stay, we were so sad to be leaving, but will always remember the amazing family vacation we spent thoroughly enjoying our time at the Pink Shell, and getting to be just a small part of FMB's post-hurricane recovery. For all of these reasons and more, I would highly recommend the Pink Shell to families and couples looking for a beautiful beach resort with truly wonderful staff. Read less

We went on a kayak tour with Ranger Rob on our vacation. He talked about the wildlife and the beautiful area. The nature hut on the beach was very cool to see. Our kids were talking about Ranger Rob on the flight home. He made the family vacation unforgettable. Will definitely be back.
