I LOVE this hotel! Everything is perfect from the super friendly valet guys to the Beach bar to the room to the view. Watching the sunset going down is the best experience. The bar menu is great - crab roll! You can walk to a couple of restaurants nearby, and the drive to the Waterside shops takes but a moment, Don’t hesitate to go!

We stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst travelling around Florida. The holiday was for my 50th Birthday celebration and I had emailed the hotel in advance to enquire on our room allocation and to advise that this was a birthday celebration. On arrival we were told that we had been upgrading from our resort view room to a Premium Room in the Gulf View tower and all I can say is WOW. This was a brilliant upgrade and was really appreciated. They even upgraded the room for our friends who were travelling with us. The rooms were beautiful, spotless and spacious with the most amazing view from the balcony. We didn't use all the facilities so can't comment on all, but the Pool area and beach were lovely and the service excellent. We also enjoyed a few drinks in the evening sat looking out to sea on the veranda and also at the fire pits. The valet service was also very efficient. All in all we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Naples. Read less

I would start by saying that the people employed here are all very nice. I am an upper middle class person and can afford 5 star resorts, however I do not like getting taken. I would start by saying that the people employed here are all very nice. I am an upper middle class person and can afford 5 star resorts, however I do not like getting taken. GOOD: Location is very nice. Rooms are very clean. Beach at the hotel is very good. The lounge chairs and umbrellas are all put up nicely, you can even request 2 umbrellas to cover you so as not to get burnt. Drink the coffee from the "coffee bar" it is excellent, not very good in the restaurant. I asked, they use different brands... Nice double glass doors in the room so you can look out with black out curtains. I had the "Beach Front Room the most expensive", view was excellent from the balcony overlooking the beach (however, the balcony did have a problem). WiFi reception ok, not great. BAD: Rooms and bathrooms are on the small side. Toilets awful, they are the low water use ones and Do Not Work Well ! The shower head again is "low flow" and you have to stay in the shower for half an hour to get sunscreen off (ridiculous), put regular toilets and shower heads and LESS water would be consumed. Television has limited channels. NO accessible outlets on the desk top for you to connect your computer or phone, you have a long reach UNDER the desk to find an electrical outlet. WiFi Routers, obsolete, they need new ones. Big grip, the private balcony is NOT Screened In, yes NOT screened in ! That means that at night you CANNOT sit on the balcony to relax or sleep because you will get eaten by the Bugs ! They charge you a $32.oo Resort Fee, however that does not include the use of the canoes and paddle boards ??? They only have VALET PARKING Available, again another $32.oo extra charge for that, you would think it would be included in the Resort Fee. Had lunch every day at the hotel, it was fair, a little pricey but ok. Dinner another Question. Grossly over priced and not that good we only ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner the first night. My Wife had seafood and had intestinal issues the next morning. I had steak, they have NO idea how to cook it as you ask for. The clincher at the BALEEN Restaurant at the hotel is: "If you want BREAD with your dinner, the CHARGE $8.oo extra" FOR A SMALL BREAD BASKET, REALLY at the prices they are asking $8.oo ??? Do not waste your time eating dinner eating dinner at the hotel, CAPITAL GRILL and FLEMING's are about 5 minutes away. Food at those two is 100% better than at BALEEN, and you get Free Bread also. About 15 minutes away are 2 outstanding local restaurants, M. Waterfront Grill (very good) and T-Michael's (excellent) and yes NO charge for bread at these two. Last but not least, the overpriced drinks from the Tiki Bar, which they put almost no alcohol in. AT&T Cellular Reception was not good inside the hotel rooms. Final Conclusion, would I come back here again ? This place is ok, but for the same price you can stay at the SOUTH SEAS RESORT in Captiva Island, which is Much Nicer and Exclusive, and the features and prices are better. Read less

Well what can I say about this hotel, we have been amny times and it just keeps getting better , everyone is so welcoming on arrival like you are old friends and nothing too much trouble. From Rico, Nick and the lovely Joe and Anthony on reception ( dont forget Megan) to The brilliant Corbin at Breakfast , not only a server but the best sense of humour and made us laugh every day , thank you sir! When you go to the beach or the pool you are always greeted with a smile and these guys work incredibly hard - head of the team is Rob Smith , he remembers us every year and he really is an amazing ambassador for La Playa ...dont change and say thanks to Danny, Ben and the team who looked after us always. Cheers to Georgie and Actuen ( sorry for the spelling) around the pool bar for looking after us and always remembering our drinks !! And of course a big thank you and appreciation to our two favourite bar men in the world Luigi and Mike - who made our nightly cocktails with a smile and a story - brilliant fun guys! This palce has a lovely team, like a family and they make you feel part of this so we will be back once again , whether they like it or not ha!! Keep it going ......... Read less
