A lovely room made special by the sound of the ocean. wonderful peaceful location, but located away from the main strip, but no major loss there. The beds are superb, as is the bedding, and the bathroom was very nice and clean. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the brief stay. The staff are professional and friendly, and the room service food is good quality. The pool is landscaped and very nice, and the hotel offers jet ski experiences on the beach. I wish we could have stayed longer as we didn't experience the sunset due to weather, but I'd certainly return to just watch the wildlife and enjoy the relaxing experience. Read less

Great location, great beach front room, amazing food and service. Adriano at Baleen is an excellent server and Ryan one of the La Playa Managers was above and beyond. Excellent stay! We will be back in the future ourselves and with our daughter.

My bride and I got married at LaPlaya Beach & Golf resort on 9.1.19 (It's a palindrome!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We enjoyed the room, the view, The Beach, the pool, the Tiki bar, the staff, the food and the ceremony! Wedding Stuff: Jane H. was simply awesome! Jane is with LaPlaya. She coordinated with our wedding service as well as photographer. We had a private ceremony on the Beach (no guests), and LaPlaya was able to make it a picturesque setting. Because it was small (and the weekend that Hurricane Dorian was supposed to hit), Jane was able to give us multiple options for the ceremony location. Hotel/Beach/Pool/Staff (The Non-wedding stuff): -Staff we very friendly and very helpful- especially at the Tiki bar and beach. -They have 2 pools (one small, one larger with a water feature). The pools were well kept and clean (we had some windy days, and the staff kept up with it). - The beach was beautiful! White sand, well kept. The Staff were readily available for drinks, towels, chairs, umbrellas. - the Hotel itself was very nice. It was dated in some areas, but they are updating! Example, The Baleen restaurant was under construction while we were there. So for dinner they moved us up a floor to the private club (very nice)! The construction noise was never a problem! - Food was good. If you are a "foodie" you would probably agree that it was good, but not great. We were very pleased! Breakfast buffet was fantastic! - Our room was clean. we were in the Gulf tower. Fantastic view of the sunsets! I think our bathroom was new/updated. Staff was readily available for towels -My bride had a Spa treatment and loved it! -They had the wonderful fire pits at night that overlook the beach! Practical Details: - Hotel is in North Naples - It was a $50 Cab ride from RSW (~25 minutes) - It was a $17-$21 Uber ride to "Downtown" Naples (5th Ave, 3rd Ave). - Drinks and Food were expensive. It was a special weekend, so we would do it again. It's easy to sit by the pool/beach and drink $16 Rum-Runners (delicious) all afternoon! :-) Location: The location was perfect for us. We felt quiet and secluded. If you are looking for more activity you will need a car or a taxi/uber. All-in-all.... I highly recommend and I would book the weekend again, if given the choice! We have stayed several times at this hotel and never tire of the views. On the last two occasions we have visited there has been some form of construction/building work ongoing, which on both occasions proved to be extremely noisy and disruptive, loud enough to be heard from the beach. We were notified prior to the first occasion but not notified prior to our recent arrival. Both times the staff made provisions to accommodate us as far away from the noise as possible. Thank you to Austin for making this happen. Hopefully when we return later in the year no works will be ongoing. I would highly recommend this hotel (when there’s no construction works ongoing) Read less

My husband and I spent 5 days and 5 nights for our Babymoon/1-year wedding anniversary. The hotel was recommended by a friend who stayed many years ago, and it looked nice and reasonably priced online for the accommodations and amenities, so we went ahead and booked a few months prior to our stay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Pros: -Spacious, clean room (we stayed in an ocean-front king room in the Gulf tower). Maid service came everyday and did a great job. -Hotel was helpful and willing to bring mini fridge and extra pillows to the room to accommodate some of my pregnancy-related needs. -Pool areas (3) were large, clean, and plenty of staff around to set up chairs, take lunch orders -Beach area was by far the nicest of all of the resorts in the area. Much more spacious than the Ritz Carlton which is about a mile walk from the property -Quiet (likely due to time of year we chose) -Very nice fitness center -Food was great. We ate a Baleen once for dinner and once for brunch, had had lunch at the Tiki Bar 4/5 days -Attentive management -Comfortable beds and lovely products in the bathroom Cons: -Hotel lobby and much of the rest of the property was under construction. My husband was woken up from a nap in the room to the sound of a tile saw. This would've been fine if we knew, but it was not disclosed prior to our stay. By the time we found out how loud the noice was in the room, we had already unpacked and being 6 months pregnant, I did not feel like lugging my stuff to another room that they did offer to us. -I made a reservation for our second-to-last night at Baleen's temporary location through the concierge, letting them know that we were celebrating our 1-year anniversary and babymoon. No one made any mention of either occasion during our dinner, and the waiter seemed perturbed when a busser accidentally dropped a bread basket off at our table that we did not order but started eating (we were told they charge $8 for bread baskets). Mind you, we did not expect a free meal, but a glass of celebratory champagne for my husband or dessert would have been nice, or even an acknowledgement of the events -Concierge was rude and not very knowledgeable of the area. 2/4 restaurants they recommended were closed for the month for renovations (they should know this IMO, as there are limited options in the area and a simple Google search could've told them they were closed), and I was given a major attitude when I told them that I had already been to the one option they suggested that was actually open. They literally said "So what do you want then?" when I politely told them I had already been to said restaurant. -Massage therapist at the spa was good, but I paid $145 ($177 with mandatory 22% gratuity) for a 50-minute prenatal massage that only lasted 35 minutes! I was seen 10 minutes late (despite arriving 40 minutes early) and the treatment ended right on time. It was my second treatment of the trip, and I had planned to book a third for the last day until this happened. They did refund me about $70 of the treatment price, but $100+ is still too much money to pay for a 35-minute massage in my opinion. -There were two rowdy gentlemen at the Tiki Bar who were having EXTREMELY disgusting, graphic (potentially of illegal nature) sexual conversations at the bar one day during lunch. After our meal we quickly got up and returned to our pool chairs to avoid. A very sweet pool manager came over to apologize, but let us know that they were "Club Members" so there was little they could do, but they'd addressed the situation. No more than 10 minutes later the two gentlemen had made their way to the pool and were seated right nearby, and continued to have disgusting conversations at max volume in the pool until we were forced to get up and move. In all, we had a relaxing stay and would definitely consider coming back in the future after construction is finished, and with the newest addition to our family. Read less
