The hotel

This hotel is a work of art. Quite literally! As you walk into the hotel you'll instantly notice the distinctive artwork and creative decorations surrounding you, and during your stay you're likely to see curated gallery exhibitions as well as art and wine tours on offer - so you can really ignite your creative mind! Whilst the art is a key factor in making this hotel so great, there's a host of other facilities to enjoy too - one of our favourites being the rooftop pool and bar where you can enjoy lovely views of Sarasota and the marina whilst taking a dip or enjoying a cocktail. The perks continue in your room, with colouring pencils and a sketchbook as well as a ukelele! Opt for a high floor room to enjoy more beautiful views, they're definitely worth it. The hotel is in the heart of Sarasota so it's easy to explore. Sarasota farmers market is just a couple of minutes walk away, and you're only 3 miles from the beautiful Lido Key Beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Complimentary bicycles are available too, so you can whip around the town to find some great restaurants and shops.

The hotel lobby and bar are gorgeous with beautiful contemporary art work lining the walls. This particular evening a wine and painting event was happening along with live music. The room was spacious, modern and very clean, and I can’t forget to mention that this hotel has a rooftop bar. I can’t wait to go back again for a weekend stay and enjoy the rooftop pool and cabanas. This hotel is located very close to so many restaurants that are in walking distance. Highly recommend this hotel! Read less

We loved our stay in this wonderful hotel. We were there for 10 days, which can sometimes get claustrophobic in a hotel, but not this time! My husband was gone a lot of the time for work, but the location made it easy to walk to everything and occupy my time. And there is a shuttle if you don't want to walk, which will even take you to St. Armand's. The hotel itself is beautiful. Interesting artwork and artists to interact with. We enjoyed the fun music in the lobby at night (even if I was on the younger side of the crowd). The hotel was clean, beds comfy, and all of the staff friendly and helpful. Good food, nice pool. And several nice little restaurants on the same block. Parking was available on the upper floors of the attached garage. You won't be disappointed with this hotel! Read less

This is my second time staying at The Art Overton in Sarasota. I am a Marriott rewards member. This was a quick two night trip to visit IMG Academy in Bradenton with my 15 year old son. Check in process was easy although we were told the roof top aaa closed for the evening. We checked in at 4pm and were starving and the only dining option was the very small bar. Bartender was very, very kind and sweet but food options were extremely poor and overpriced. The grilled cheese for my son was pitiful and cost $16. The only other dining option was the on site restaurant which was not open and the selections weren’t something that looked appetizing any way. There was a ladies meeting going on in the middle of the lobby and a crowded bar with no TV and only one bartender (bless her heart. Bar had only 12 stools at best and seating clusters around were odd. So we ventured off to find food. Coffee option in room was comical so ordered a pot from room service which was also extremely overpriced. For over $450/night there should be a coffee option in the lobby for guest or a quick grab and go. The next evening after a long day, my son just needed food and we needed up having to Uber eats food in as the options were just poor. We had an early flight the next day and guest services didn’t open til 7 and once again, no coffee option. I called down to front desk and the attendant at the desk said he could get coffee from kitchen but when I arrived downstairs, there was no coffee. This was at 6am in the morning. Best Western for $99/night would have at least had a pot of coffee. The rooms are nice and twhbybsownt a lot of money on their hotel scent but it just seems the hotel could spend less on ukeleles and plastic duck decor provide practical amenities. We Uber’d everywhere as we weren’t greeted outside by staff and had no idea about shuttle system. We travel to Sarasota often and will look for a better option next time. Read less

Nice hotel. Out of towners be alert, though, that Sarasota does not allow parking in the parking garage from 6-10 am, Monday through Friday. We wish the hotel had alerted us to that. They recommended the garage (they also have a specific elevator for guests to use to get to it). When we left on Monday morning, we had a $35 citation on our… Read more

They recommended the garage (they also have a specific elevator for guests to use to get to it). When we left on Monday morning, we had a $35 citation on our windshield (as did many other cars). There are signs, but we were happy to find a space, and had not seen it as it never would have occurred to us that a parking garage attached to a hotel would limit parking hours - that was a first. We paid $23 to leave the garage on Monday morning and then drove to City Hall to pay a $35 citation. That feels like an orchestrated rule to harm tourists. The hotel should make their guests aware of that rule. Read less

Rooms are beautiful & always clean with great views. The staff is always exceptional in their customer service, Artem especially is so friendly, helpful, and professional!! The bar and pool upstairs is serene with great drinks and open late. Favorite hotel to stay in Sarasota.
