Clearwater is much bigger than I expected. There are huge expensive hotels right on the beach, cheaper hotels off the beach....so many choices so be sure to read up on each to ensure you are getting the right hotel for your needs. The bad reviews seem to be for people expecting something else. This is really nice Holiday Inn right on the Intercostal way. We were warmly greeted and as we arrived at 11, had to wait 2 hours for a clean room. The restaurant was a great place to wait, wonderful food and the view could not be beat. Our room was on the water, which means we were able to enjoy the nightly music and sunset right from our balcony. It was one of the nicest Holiday Inns we have stayed in, with outstanding food and an incredible bar area. The pool was lovely too. Clean room, nice bathroom and great bedding. Short walking distance to other restaurant options and the beach itself. We highly recommend as we enjoyed everything about this hotel and location. The bad reviews seem to represent people who wanted the Ritz Carlton at Holiday Inn prices, or might not understand that Florida is hot in the summer and this is a beach resort vide so things are a lot slower and more casual...perfect for those of us looking to enjoy a wonderful vacation. The hotel is a little outdated but we had a wonderful time staying there! We had no issues with room odors or room damage or mold, etc. The AC was actually so cold we had to turn it up a bit! The hotel is in a great location and is just a short distance to the beach. The room has a mini fridge which came in handy to keep our drinks cold. All in all it was a great stay. Read less

Customer Service: Manager Angie was pleasant, recognized my IHG Status and made us feel welcome. Room: 2 beds and 2 bathrooms, living area with pull out sofa bed and balcony Beds were comfortable Internet was supposed to be available but connection was poor so I used my hotspot. Living room had a constant beeping sound when the very loud AC unit/fan stopped blowing, Bathroom: Roaches visited in the night and the kids screamed and refused to use that bathroom so we all had to use the one in the living area. We were uncomfortable and afraid to leave our bags and clothing unattended Kitchen area had coffeemaker, mini fridge and utensils Balcony overlooked the pool and had good views of the restuarant and the ocean Hallway: had to cover my nose to walk to the elevator, it was musty and unpleasant Lizard above the elevator on the second day so we chose to take the stairs Pushy salesman in the lobby Restuarant was nice, had outdoor dining, the dinner was good but breakfast buffet was insipid Hotel Parking was $25 per day Overall, very unpleasant stay, definitely would not recommend this hotel. This place was an absolute nightmare start to finish. We only stayed one night and man was it crazy, including the gentleman at the front desk who eventually told me he “had a severe case of pinkeye due to diverticulitis” after having handed me items from behind the counter. The room was gross, the floor was gross, the bed was gross, the door was broken and beat up because it looked like it had been kicked in at one point. It was like being in the twilight zone. If it had not been so late when we got to the room we would have left. The one bright spot was the manager I closed out bill out with in the morning. Otherwise, it was just bad bad bad all around. By the way, management team, your elevators appear to be out of code. Per Florida Statute 399 the elevator certificates are to be displayed inside each elevator. Not sure “certificate on file with management” is sufficient and if it is forgive me. Based on the condition of everything else in the place it might lead one to wonder whether the elevators are really up to snuff, inspected and in good working order. If not, that’s a scary prospect. Either way, we will not be back anytime soon, if ever. Read less
