The pool had plenty of chairs and was also very clean. The drinks and appetizers at Tate's were really tasty! My husband enjoyed the jalapeno margaritas and I had one of their specialty cocktails (I can't remember the name but it was vodka-based and was really nice and refreshing). We travelled with our two kids - 16 and 10 and they enjoyed it as well. Our first day, we went to Busch Gardens. Great place with some really good coasters! It's about 50 minutes from the hotel. All in all, a great time away and we highly recommend the Sandpearl! Read less

We arrived at the hotel around 5 PM and saw plenty of valets/bellhops standing around. One came to get our car, but no one grabbed a luggage dolly to assist with our luggage. We were rushing to unload the truck with an excited 4-year-old, and I was surprised at the lack of assistance, hence not 5 -star. On a positive note, there was a friendly person at the door who held it open, greeted us, and directed us to the check-in desk, even offering welcome drinks and giving my grandson a shovel and bucket for the beach. Check-in was fairly smooth, though the staff member didn’t explain much, only pointing to a map of the facility. There was no mention of check-out times, pool hours, restaurants, or the free shuttle, which we learned about from another guest. These details would have helped us plan our stay better. Our room on the 8th floor is where Sand Pearl Resort shines. The one bedroom suite is beautiful, spacious, and very clean. The towels are soft and fluffy, and the bed is very comfortable with a great view of the pool and ocean. Our grandson loves the pull-out bed, calling it his own. Housekeeping and turndown service have been outstanding, replenishing our water and laundry detergent regularly, which is appreciated after spending time in the sun and washing daily post-beach. However, there are areas for improvement. The food at the main restaurant was mediocre, and service was extremely slow. Our main entrée was so delayed and overcooked that we ended up trashing it. The kid’s pizza we ordered was burned, though the front desk promptly arranged for a replacement through their text message check-in system. The full-size kitchen lacks oven pans, making it hard to reheat food in the oven. Additionally, the TV is inconsistent, with the "menu" button for ordering movies or connecting devices working sporadically. At the pool, assistance with towels on the chairs is inconsistent. While someone helped my friend today, I was told its self-service, which is challenging with a 4-year-old and a handful of toys. Poolside food service is also slow, possibly due to staffing issues. If they can enhance customer service at the valet, pool area, and main restaurant, and improve the food quality, this place could easily become a 5-star resort. We have one more night here and are looking forward to the beach this evening. I wish I had bought food from the store for meals, as our dining options feel limited. Although we reported the TV issue, we chose to stay out late and go to bed instead of calling repeatedly. Overall, it’s a beautiful place and we plan to return, better prepared for food options and ready to utilize the shuttle service. Thanks to the front desk for checking in via text, though I’d prefer not to call about issues that should be addressed before check-in. If the front desk doesn’t explain the resort’s amenities, they should be listed in the room, possibly on the menu option we couldn’t use. The in-room food order form was used when we arrived and wasn’t replaced. The poolside restaurant food has been great, but it closes at 9 PM, leaving no great late-night options. Read less

We have been staying at the Sandpearl for over 10 years, and always leave with so many great memories from our experience! The location is perfect located directly on the beach to easily go back and forth from the beach to the pool. This hotel is equally as great for adult only trips or for families as we have enjoyed both. When we come as a family the kids love the activities in the kids club, making s’mores right on the beach or playing in the sand during dinner while we sit next to them and enjoy the views. We love the nights they offer live music and relaxing around the firepit on the beach watching the sunset. The staff is amazing and always makes sure you have the absolute best service and experience. There are so many members of the team we have had great interactions with through the years, but are especially grateful for Kyle and Elaine for their hard work and attention to detail to ensure our time by the pool and beach serve as the best memories! The shuttle at the hotel is so convenient to help should you need transportation to other nearby locations. Dining on the upper balcony at Caretta for breakfast or dinner always offers great views and food! Opal Sands and Sandpearl are very close together on the beach. Both resorts are gorgeous, but we absolutely prefer the entire experience at the Sandpearl the best! Thank you to the wonderful and hardworking team at the resort that makes every visit so memorable for every person we bring to experience one of our favorite places! Read less

We have been coming to this hotel for the last 12 years, at least one trip per year. It has always been our favorite little quick get-away UNTIL NOW... They recently remodeled their rooms, which look great, but the bed is soooooooooo uncomfortable that I pulled out the sleeper sofa which was only slightly better. The beds are like slabs of concrete with a thin fluff layer on top. My back and ribs experienced a level of discomfort that you can't even get to when you are camping and sleeping on a thin mat with rocks under you. Even the new robes are terrible: who the heck wants a synthetic fleece lined robe in a tropical climate? The trim on it is incredibly rough, like a zipper. It feels great on a sunburn. We booked a two night stay, but left as soon as we could after the first night and forewent the second night. The airplane seats in coach should afford better sleep than the beds at the Sandpearl.
