Postcard Inn on the Beach

St Pete Beach, Tampa and Clearwater/St Pete

Virgin rating

The hotel

Hip and most definitely happenin’, Postcard Inn on the Beach remains true to its surfer-cool, 1950 motel roots. U-shaped with an impressive swimming pool and a grove of mature royal palms at its core, it joins a new wave of stylish hotels at affordable, bound-to-please everybody prices! No two rooms are exactly alike, although all have vintage furniture, flat screen TV, high-speed Internet access and murals or a photographic collage of all things surfing-orientated on the wall. Try some regional American fare for dinner at the Stamps Lobby Bar and Restaurant. There’s also a beach bar and snack shack down by the ocean so you can grab a drink and a hot dog whilst soaking up the sun. Downtown St Petersburg is a few minutes away or spend time at the beach, indulging in a variety of water sports, including that all-important surfing!

We are here for 3 nights (leaving tomorrow). Half the place is closed for renovations. We are on the first floor on the parking lot side. There are a bunch of workers staying on this side. You can hear everything because the walls are thin. There aren’t many guests here so they could have assigned us a better room on the courtyard side but… Read more

You can hear everything because the walls are thin. There aren’t many guests here so they could have assigned us a better room on the courtyard side but no. We were thrilled that the “resort fee” ($45 daily) included beach chairs. Didn’t know it’s only the chairs with no umbrellas. It’s $30 extra per day for an umbrella! The pool is large and clean. The staff did give us towels each day and 2 waters per room. The ac is cold. Hot water is hot and plentiful. No frills but it’s ok for the price we paid. Read less

I'm 75 and this is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Great location but this motel is crumbling. Needs to be torn down and redeveloped. Room had central AC but no control in room. Had one control in office. Was always hot and muggy. Rooms are old and look decorated by Goodwill. Hotel lobby ceiling had holes and a lot of water damage.… Read more

There's only 2 positives I can give this hotel. The pool and the staff are nice. The old, outdated tiny room sucked. I would have never stayed here if they posted real pictures on their website. The pictures posted are NOT what the rooms look like, truly false advertising.

We had such high hopes for this hotel. First part of the hotel is under construction. When our friends arrived to their room they found two dead roaches in their shower. We had such high hopes for this hotel. First part of the hotel is under construction. When our friends arrived to their room they found two dead roaches in their shower. The bottle of provided body wash was broken all of the shower floor. Clearly housekeeping did not clean efficiently. Our friends went to the front desk and asked for body wash and were told housekeeping wouldn’t be in until 9. What in the world! On Saturday we were at the pool. We were able to order the seltzers that we enjoy with no problem. On Sunday we were at the pool and told we couldn’t order the same seltzer from Saturday and we never should have been served on Saturday as the “events” of the weekend were sponsored by another seltzer company. On Sunday night we needed toilet paper and went to the desk and were told housekeeping would be in at 9 in the morning. What hotel doesn’t keep a stock of extra items on hand. I honestly would not recommend this hotel. Read less
