Postcard Inn on the Beach

St Pete Beach, Tampa and Clearwater/St Pete

Virgin rating

The hotel

Hip and most definitely happenin’, Postcard Inn on the Beach remains true to its surfer-cool, 1950 motel roots. U-shaped with an impressive swimming pool and a grove of mature royal palms at its core, it joins a new wave of stylish hotels at affordable, bound-to-please everybody prices! No two rooms are exactly alike, although all have vintage furniture, flat screen TV, high-speed Internet access and murals or a photographic collage of all things surfing-orientated on the wall. Try some regional American fare for dinner at the Stamps Lobby Bar and Restaurant. There’s also a beach bar and snack shack down by the ocean so you can grab a drink and a hot dog whilst soaking up the sun. Downtown St Petersburg is a few minutes away or spend time at the beach, indulging in a variety of water sports, including that all-important surfing!

It was a very thin door and the walls were also very thin, allowing us to hear conversations very clearly from the room next to us. The voices were not muffled at all. The pool is very nice with adequate chairs and umbrellas. There are lots of servers checking if you want drinks. Towels were nice, looked new. At the beach, the beach chairs that were complementary were also good but note that the umbrellas need to be rented. There is not a coffee machine in the room unless you request it. It is a Lazzo brand which takes a specific size pod (not Kuerig). We were told a coffee maker would be available for us when we arrived. But there wasn't one in the room. We ended up requesting it three times, with several hours between each request before it was delivered. (It did make nice coffee in the morning for us, though!) The beach was beautiful and very clean. We were told that no personal coolers were allowed on the beach in St. Petersburg but we understand that this is a city law resulting from previous abuse of alcohol. The Postcard Inn is a resort and that includes a $45 resort fee. For $260 for one night's stay, I would not consider it a place to return to unless there is a discount. We've stayed at about a half dozen other accommodations right on the Gulf within 20 miles, and this one we felt provided the least value. Read less

We got married here in April and it was wonderful! We chose the beach for our ceremony and they also have a garden option. Our guests enjoyed the food and everything went as planned. I couldn't be happier and would highly recommend! Read less

From the beginning the team at the Postcard were super helpful in our planning, and flexible with us in determining our event and block options. Merzedes was super responsive to all of my inquiries and helped us increase our room block multiple times. On the day of our planned outdoor space event, the team communicated with me early about our back up plan and helped us seamlessly move the event to an indoor space. Lastly, when we arrived the staff made us feel very special and enhanced our experience with a bottle of champagne in our beautiful poolside room. Our group has the best time all weekend, and we thank the team at Postcard for this experience. We all want to come back every year to enjoy the beautiful beach and facilities at Postcard. Read less

Total mistake on their end putting an 81 and 64 year old couple at this property. Service at the front desk was pleasant and accommodating. Our room was horrible, located on the first floor outside the courtyard. People streamed by, at most hours, that were loud and quite boisterous. Didn't feel safe. The room had beat up furniture, a ratty little frig, and we asked for a coffee maker that was delivered to us. The bathroom was tiny and in pretty bad shape. All that had been replaced was the sink. Paint peeling on the bathtub, one light bulb out, tile looked grungey over all just sad. There is not one picture on the wall . The temperature was too hot. Tried to spend time reading in the courtyard area, but music from speakers throughout plus the dj at the beach bar competed with each other. This was not peaceful. Lots of people are trouping through to use facilities for the day. Getting into our parking place by the room was another sore spot. Area in front blocked on Saturday, and attendant was of no help. Way to much money for a spring break type Motel! Read less

I went to stay at this hotel with high hopes. They have upgraded the appearance of the hotel and added a lot of nice extras. I was going on a family vacation. The music from the club was so loud starting at 1 pm we could not nap or listen to the TV or rest due to the bass beating so loud in our room. They hosted a wedding that also played loud music in the courtyard ( which they say is very common)and the speakers were outside of our room again we could not go to bed or relax and watch TV until after 10 pm. Due to the loudness of the music. The AC would not go under 76 and we could not sleep, but so frustrated after waiting for the music to stop I didn't tell the hotel office until the morning, the manager didn't seem to care at all. My room bathroom was not cleaned before our checking in there were bottle tops on the floor of the shower and no shampoo/Conditioner. We had breakfast both Sat and Sun, both mornings our food was served cold. I heard other guests also complaining about their food being cold as well. There were a lot of people 4/20 friendly and I don't care but I don't want it going into my room where my family is. I think that this hotel has so much potential, the courtyard and pool area is beautiful. The rooms were nice. The courtyard had a beautiful firepit and games and plenty of seating to be outside and enjoy, ( this was not available to us due to the weddings) which was a disappointment we had hoped to sit outside and enjoy this area, It has a great location and a very nice Tiki Bar, They offer a volleyball court and quick access to the beach. Great shops and other restaurants are within walking distance. I would highly recommend Slyce Pizza it was amazing. Read less
