We booked a week at the Rum Fish in late June for a mother/daughter getaway. When we arrived it was chaotic with a lot of people around; understandable because it was a Saturday. We arrived a little earlier than the check in time so they said they’d contact us when our room was ready. We went out for lunch and then came back to poke around a bit while we waited. So where to begin. The photos online must have been taken by a magician. The pools are small. Very very small. And not clean. At least when we were there. Trash near the decks and napkins or whatever floating in the pool. We walked around outside near the rooms. The hotel is set up like a motel with direct access to the rooms from outside. We sort of assumed that going in but to see it in person was jarring for a “resort”. We spoke to some people who were staying there and they said it was just ok; the rooms were not updated and not particularly clean. Outdoor fire pits for s’motes etc were dirty. Other amenities like the zip line and slide were hardly open. And they said the staff was not that friendly about it all. We had experienced a little snippy attitude at the front desk but assumed it was because it was so busy. Apparently it wasn’t a one off. That was it for us and we decided to cancel right then because the website pictures were super misleading and we didn’t feel comfortable staying there. We approached the same gentleman at the front desk who again was not terribly nice who said he’d get a manager. She came out very annoyed from the start and said she’d cancel but we’d have to be charged for one day. We asked to waive that because we felt the pictures online were very misleading and would have never booked if we saw what it really looked like. I only wish we got her name because she was so nasty. She said something along the lines of “I could probably do that but actually I can’t and I won’t.” Just unnecessarily nasty. No apology no nothing. So we climbed in the car and drove to Clearwater where we found great rooms at the Hyatt Regency with really terrific and accommodating staff. My advice is to stay away from RumFish. Labeling it a resort is a big stretch, but even with that aside, it’s not clean and the staff is nowhere near as friendly as the reviews would have you believe. Read less

I have never stayed at a resort where your parking pass is given separately. (I was too ticked to even listen). The adult pool was filled with drunks and two types of music were playing LOUDLY. Fortunately for us, we got to watch them pass out early and had some relaxing time after 8:00pm. The resort is not being taken care of like it used to. Bathroom lighting didn't work in one of the restaurants, our TV didn't work and when we told the staff in Rumfish that there was water all over the floor, the response was "I just got here". lol Read less

Checked with Chis at the front desk. A sincerely welcoming host. Helpful in every way. The room on the 7th floor gorgeous and exceed all expectations. The view over the Gulf was spectacular. Lunch at the poolside bar was great. Dinner at Rumfish Grill was simply wonderful. All the facilities spotless and well maintained.
