National Hotel

Miami Beach, Miami

The hotel

A cool cocktail stirring up the best bits of Miami, National Hotel Miami Beach throws in a dash of Art Deco (thanks to its Collins Avenue address); a shot of Miami’s swanky beach scene (thanks to its sand-skirting spot); and a splash of chic poolside glamour (thanks to its headline-grabbing pool). The longest infinity edge pool in Miami Beach, it’s flanked by graceful palms, gorgeous bougainvillea, and serene spots for poolside libations from Aqua Club Bar & Grill. As evening draws in, you can switch to the fresh Med flavours of Tamara Bistro, the tapas and live sounds of Blues Bar, or the buzzing local hotspots along popular Lincoln Road, one block away, and Ocean Drive, two blocks away.

I stayed at the National last weekend. Hotel is beautiful, great location, walking distance to Lincoln rd. I asked to move to another room and Maria if not mistaken her name was very kind in making that happen. Front desk staff was very friendly. The lobby and pool are gorgeous.

I had a great holiday stay here. Thanks to Luis & Freddy who took care of a minor issue we had in the room. The decor is old Hollywood glam & I loved every bit of it. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous & I adored my room. The pool side bar food is outstanding & so is the hotel restaurant! I would recommend the Conch Fritters & Wings and Caesar Salad. The drinks are pretty delicious as well. This hotel is perfectly located on Collins near Lincoln Road Mall & next to all major hotels. Also, it’s right on the beach and guests get free beach chairs. I have no major complaints at all and would recommend this hotel & plan on staying here again. Read less

The exterior and lobby are well maintained. It's the long list of little irritants that made our stay uncomfortable. The room was too cold throughout our 7 day stay, had to wear sweaters. Our AC was off all week. Cold lobby air came in from under our door. The one sink washroom was super tight, no space to place the various toiletries used daily. 50% clogged drain. The washroom liquid soap dispenser was improperly installed on the wall above the toilet. It was so loose that we asked for it to be repaired, we were promised a quick repair but no one ever showed up. Most liquid soap dispensers leak somewhat and ours of course left a good puddle on the floor. The bathtub wall had 3 liquid dispensers installed, shampoo, soap & conditioner. After the 2nd shower we realized the shampoo did not foam up much, soon after we concluded that someone mixed up the soap with the shampoo placing them in the wrong dispensers. We were washing our hair with soap and washing our skin with shampoo for 2 days! The tub was way too slippery, no non-slip surface anywhere! The tub's drain plug did not work. The main towel rack was too close to the toilet, every time we washed hands we wet the toilet seat as we reached over to dry our hands. We had to keep the toilet's lid closed. The toilet paper was the thinnest money can buy, economics gone mad. The TV only offered a handful of channels and switching those channels was excessively slow. This is no 4 star hotel, I'll be generous and give it 2.5 stars. Read less

I only tend to write a review of somewhere I totally recommend to stay. This hotel ‘National Hotel’ was so bad/ disappointing/ terrible that I thought I could not not write a review of this hotel. I booked the hotel because I loved the looked of the pool. I’ve previously stayed at the “W” & “ The Palms Hotel & Spa” so thought we would try a different hotel! WHAT A MISTAKE. THE POOL - The pool to start of with was closed for 2days! THE ROOM - The room was disgusting - the carpet was wet, the room stunk, the aircon made a noise, the bathroom you didn’t want to shower in. When I went to complain within 30mins of arriving the reception were unhelpful and rude. They offered a room upgrade for $100 plus tax per night on top of what we paid already (we were staying for 5nights). I would have paid the additional $100 a night to stay at the “W”. The hotel was empty and would have been no inconvenience. We changed to a different room on night 2 which was a little better but no apology at all and still stunk! THE HOTEL - The hotel is so out dated and could do with a complete refurb. On a arrival they make you sign to say you will not bring any food/water/ etc into the hotel. This makes you so on edge. FINAL POINT - The palms hotel and spa was the same price to stay in for our duration. I would 1000% recommend that hotel over this hotel. When we complained we spoke to the manager. He was rude & with his attitude I think this hotel will never improve. Read less
