National Hotel

Miami Beach, Miami

The hotel

A cool cocktail stirring up the best bits of Miami, National Hotel Miami Beach throws in a dash of Art Deco (thanks to its Collins Avenue address); a shot of Miami’s swanky beach scene (thanks to its sand-skirting spot); and a splash of chic poolside glamour (thanks to its headline-grabbing pool). The longest infinity edge pool in Miami Beach, it’s flanked by graceful palms, gorgeous bougainvillea, and serene spots for poolside libations from Aqua Club Bar & Grill. As evening draws in, you can switch to the fresh Med flavours of Tamara Bistro, the tapas and live sounds of Blues Bar, or the buzzing local hotspots along popular Lincoln Road, one block away, and Ocean Drive, two blocks away.

My partner and I decided to visit Miami for Spring Break and after reading online reviews, I settled on The National for a 4-night stay. The concierges and bellmen were all very friendly and helpful from checkin to checkout. We reserved an ocean view room, which was a decent size and it was not to be able to look out the window at the ocean and open a window and hear the breeze (the windows only open a half foot or so). The room was equipped with small TV, lots of plugs and charging ports, and nice desk. The bathroom was on the small side, but included nice toiletries and had both an overhead shower head and a European-style handheld shower head. The bed was very comfortable and the wi-fi worked well. We had an issue where the towel hook on the bathroom door became unattached, when I called, they sent someone immediately to fix it, despite it obviously not being an emergency. We took advantage of the famous long pool (which is not temperature controlled), the small heated pool, as well as the beachside loungers throughout our stay and all of that was very pleasant with helpful staff. While by the pool, I ordered the Mediterranean platter and some drinks, all of which was tasty. I took advantage of the gym, which is in a small room with limited equipment -- a few cardio machines, dumbbells up to 50 pounds, a weight pulley machine and an exercise ball. So, certainly enough to get in a decent workout. The one essential that was missing was a bench. Overall, the National definitely met my expectations and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Hubert the breakfast waiter is a special man, he always smiles and is very friendly! Read less

It is a beautiful hotel with an old feel. I have never liked the food served in any hotel; however, the dining in this hotel was great. We loved everything we had there. We even ordered room service and loved it. It is a romantic hotel and we loved staying here.
