We only used restaurant for breakfast once, which was great quality, and children were actually included under 10 year olds, making good value. Dinner around the pool was great and reasonable price, we also walked to a restuarant around the corner (Bonefish Grill) which was great and good value with some happy hour food and drinks. Also close to pharmacy, which sells food and drinks and a petrol station that sells some food, drink and alcohol. The hotel has transfer service to Disney and Universal, although not many and you had to plan ahead. Great stay. Read less

Keeping everything indoors allowed my kids a little bit of freedom (under our supervision of course!) but we didn't have to attach them to our hips. Second, the food at both the restaurant for breakfast (not sure the name) and the sushi restaurant were fantastic! And third, and I find most important, the staff!! They were just wonderful. Doug - the bartender at the sushi restaurant was so personable and kind. The staff at the breakfast spot (there were so many) were all just wonderful! (and Thomas kept us laughing!) And last, but certainly not least, Gabriel at the front. He made our stay so perfect from the minute we checked in until we left. Thank you for Renaissance for not resting solely on your ideal location to Sea World - but really making this a fantastic place to stay all on its own! We can't wait to come back! Read less

The previous guest had vacated, but housekeeping didn’t clean it. So I go back to the front desk and the guy working was so casual and didn’t even apologize for the error. Overall the place is ok, the resort fee of $30 is a ripoff since the rooms don’t even have complimentary water. The walls are thin, so I was listening to this couple argue at midnight about something I didn’t care about. The location is super convenient to Sea World, but overall I’m not impressed. Read less

I stayed here for a competition with my daughter which also happened to be my birthday weekend. I originally booked a king room but strongly considered upgrading to a corner suite. I explained to the ambassador Norma that I would like the room but was worried about the additional cost of 200.00 for the upgrade. We both agreed better to book the upgrade and decide later if a downgrade was more cost effective as they were booking quickly for a sell out and it would be more likely that an upgrade would not be available if I still wanted it. It was also understood that if I wanted to downgrade at that point that it would be probable that I couldn't be given accommodations at all due to the sell out but I figured I would deal with that as it comes. Fast forward to the next day...I was pleasantly surprised to see that my upgrade was on my Bonvoy app without the additional upgrade fee and I was so blown away that I checked the new confirmation just to double check and sure enough I had my previous rate WITH the upgrade and no fee . I was thrilled as I figured this was a courtesy upgrade for my birthday as again my new reservation reflected the same rate. I have stayed at many beautiful hotels due to my daughters grueling travel schedule (my 4th year in a row as a matter of fact spending my birthday at a cheer competition) and I have learned that the front desk staff has complete control over courtesy upgrades. Check in was fast and simple and again the male front desk ambassador confirmed at check in that I was in a corner suite at the rate in my confirmation and app of $428.63 for my stay and again I was thrilled. He was extremely friendly, I wish I remembered his name. The room was amazing, stunning view although we were extremely tired and really unable to appreciate it that night. We unpacked everything and had a peaceful night. Fast forward to the next day. I placed a room service order with Norma and expressed my thanks and delight with the room and how happy I was for the courtesy upgrade and her response was "yeah, I don't know how that happened...". She asked me to come sign a form at check out to pay for the upgrade. WTH?!! That should have been discussed at check in as I previously stated that I was concerned about the cost and again I double, triple, quadruple checked that my confirmation information that was emailed to me reflected my previous rate of 428.63 after taxes and resort fees. Not even 20 minutes later my card was charged an additional 225.00. I was livid! However, I wasn't there for a vacation and the front desk was always busy and I was stuck in the room at this point and leaving the next morning. I am still beyond furious and truly disappointed that after 2 confirmations in writing and a verbal confirmation at check in that my card was charged an additional 225.00 without my consent. I didn't use any of the amenities which for a 2 night stay was an additional 60 dollars. I have worked in the hotel business before and understand that commission is earned for upsells. I surely would have gratefully stopped by the desk and dropped off a 40 dollar tip for the "courtesy upgrade" which I'm sure that amount was more than the percentage that is earned off of an upsell. I appreciated the balloons, bag of travel sized toiletries and card sent for my birthday. However, illegally charging my card an additional 225 completely ruined the rest of my stay hence the 3 star review. Oh, and on the morning of departure they electricity in my room went out long enough to produce a convection oven like effect so that was fun too. Read less
