There is a large entry area thats open and a great place to hang out. There is a very nice pool area as well. Many restaurant choices on site as well as a small store area, all of which are highway robbery. They have you staying there and assume you are trapped and it shows in the prices. A measured small shot captain & coke is $12. A domestic pint of beer was $9. the general store area was just as bad. We already pay enough to stay there and they then jam us on the small stuff. No thanks. I will not return and do not recommend it. Read less

We've stayed at this hotel five (5) years in a row. Generally likeable, except, this time, last day, we had bugs in the room. We reached out to management as we were leaving, but got no timely reply. On one day of our stay, the TV 'guide' and subsequently the channels were not accessible for an extended period of time (hours). We were only able to view movie previews. Any attempt to load the 'guide' reverted back to movie previews. The hotel gets some things right, but this time around we wish we had stayed elsewhere. Read less

I usually have separate areas for PROS and CONS, but our stay was so mixed and needed context so both are sprinkled throughout. I usually have separate areas for PROS and CONS, but our stay was so mixed and needed context so both are sprinkled throughout. Stayed here for four nights recently to attend an event happening at this hotel. There is a Walgreens right across the street and lemon water in the lobby. We arrived about 90 minutes before check in and (CON) they would not let us check in early, so we had our bags held by the bellmen and went out. PRO: The bellmen were GREAT. There is a ton of seating areas. CON: When we arrived back to check in -- IT WAS A FREAKING NIGHTMARE. There were TEN agents working to check in people and there was easily 10 people deep on EACH line!! After fifteen minutes on line (where there was barely any movement or progress made), they added FOUR more agents, but instead of feeding people from the front who had already been waiting, they just created new lines from the back. Even with 14 agents, it took over 30 minutes to check in. It was awful. There were no apologies. Room had a king sized bed, mini fridge, iron and ironing board, blackout curtains, closet, some drawer space, plenty of outlets, a desk area, coffee maker. The hotel is dog friendly. Our mini fridge door didn't close/seal well so it didn't get cold. PRO: We reported it and maintenance came very quickly and replaced it immediately CON: Weirdly, the vertical, 3 inch deep digital safe is located in the bathroom!!!!! (room for laptops and tablets standing on their sides) I wondered about shower humidity and electronics being a bad combination. Note: The bathroom exhaust fan ONLY works if the lights are on in the bathroom, so if you turn the lights off, it takes a long time for anything to dry (towels, bathing suits, etc.). And the bathroom door closes automatically and does not stay open. We had a handicapped accessible room/shower, so maybe that's why. There was no overhead light in the shower area, so it was kind of dark and the water pressure was okay, but not great. There isn't enough counter space for toiletries or towel racks to hang or dry towels or swimwear. Hotel brand toiletries provided. Our floor had a full laundry room and a beverage vending machine (which was completely out of water). I went to Walgreens and stocked up on water. Never had to wait too long for an elevator. CON: It looks like they have a bunch of restaurants (see picture), BUT here's the fine print: TWO of the eight "dining options" (tapas and sushi) are SIX seater bars that open for dinner ONLY. One option is the lobby bar/lounge (that doesn't really serve real meals, just happy hour type snacks). One option is the kiosk that serves coffee, smoothies and bagels/pastries is really only for breakfast. So there's only REALLY three table service restaurants -- TWO restaurants "open" for lunch and dinner and a fine dining steakhouse open ONLY for dinner. (See my review of the steakhouse on TripAdvisor.) And I say "open" because the even though we were there for four nights/five days, a few days, the two restaurants never bothered to open -- even on a Saturday. Cafe Gaugin's website says they serve lunch until 2:30pm, but the handout with the room key says 1:30pm (who stops serving lunch at 130p???). PRO: The only two dependable options were: Red's Deli, which is two things -- a serviceable deli counter that serves salads, sandwiches, soups, pizza, breakfast, baked potatoes, etc. AND is also the 24/7 hotel convenience store that has a few aisles of snacks and drinks and sundries (sunblock, aspirin, etc.); and Harry's Poolside bar and grill (See my review of the pool bar and grill on TripAdvisor.) The Pool is large, lots of loungers but very little shade provided. CON: There are not enough umbrellas and the few that are provided are bolted into the ground. There's no lifeguard. It was crowded and there were kids everywhere. During our stay, there were at least SIX different conventions going on (cheerleading, volleyball, wrestling, a prom, a business meeting, a sorority reunion, which explains the check in nightmare). It took a long time to get drinks at Harry's from the walk up window. One day we were sitting at the pool when staff came around and closed all of the umbrellas, saying they were closing the pool because rain was coming. There were some clouds, so we went to Harry’s for an early lunch. Of course, it never rained and we went right back out. Hotel has a boutique, a gym (didn't use) and a Spa. We had made reservations before we arrived for therapeutic massages ($150), but oddly, a deep tissue option was NOT listed on their website (or on their brochure handout at spa reception) BUT WAS listed on the menu at the reception desk for $165. To add it on to our already scheduled therapeutic massage, they charged $35, I stuck with the therapeutic massages. The spa lockers have electronic keycards, there's a steam room, and cucumber/cold towels. Very few amenities provided. CON: The shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the showers were not spa branded, not even hotel branded. They both looked and smelled distinctly similar to the discount shampoo, conditioner, body wash that New York Sports Club used to use, which came out of giant gallon jugs. My massage was very good, my husband's massage was not as good. He'd had surgery on his chest about a year and half ago and mentioned it on the spa intake form. This was his first massage since then; his scars have healed and almost completely faded. CON: The therapist did not massage his chest at all. He didn't ask at the time because he assumed they'd get around to it, but she avoided his chest completely. When he mentioned his disappointment and dissatisfaction to the manager when we paid, she gave us a lot of, "Thanks for bringing it to our attention" and "training moment" and apologized, but did not even offer a discount of any kind. (We still gave full tips for otherwise good massages.) CON: Woke up Monday at 10am and THE ENTIRE HOTEL HAD NO WATER!!!!!!!!!! Toilets didn't flush, no water from the sink or shower. No notification via loudspeaker or message on the hotel phone/voicemail regarding the situation. No updates provided. Called the front desk and they were aware and working on it. There was some water back in the sink and the toilet by 2:30pm, but in the shower there was only a trickle. By 3:30pm, there was light water pressure in the shower, but it was ice cold water only. Hot water in the shower was finally back by 5pm. There were no apologies at check out, and of course, no discount for one day's pretty major inconvenience. Several inconveniences, inconsistencies in messaging and service issues experienced. Read less
