My girlfriend and I stayed here mid-June for 10 nights, as a base more than anything, whilst visiting Universal and Disney Theme Parks. Rooms: We stayed in a King Room on the top floor. Although it overlooked I4, there was very little road noise thanks to being high up. The room, whilst feeling dated, was clean and reasonably equipped. The bathroom was small, however served its purpose. There was a good selection of amenities in the room including fridge, hair dryer, microwave and iron. The bed was also huge and very comfortable. Hotel Facilities: The hotel had a large, free car park which was fantastic. We only used the pool once - and it was very small. It was near enough empty when we used it however I can imagine it isn't pleasant when busy. I used the fitness centre a couple of times - It was small and very basic containing a couple of cardio machines, a set of cables and a small collection of dumbbells, yet it served its purpose well and was empty at 5am whilst getting over jet lag. We only ate breakfast at the hotel twice thanks to a voucher we got given as a part of booking with Virgin Holidays. There was a vast breakfast buffet and the food from it was very good. The Hotel also has a small shop, however it was pretty overpriced so I'd recommend going to the shop next door or Walgreens. Location: The Rosen Inn is located at the Universal Studios end of International Drive. Universal is located only 5 minutes drive away - it's probably walkable however we chose to get a Lyft (approx $6) as opposed to the $25 Universal parking fee. The Disney Parks were a 20-30 minute drive. Being on I Drive there are many options for food near by as well as Walgreens for groceries etc. The International Outlet Malls are also a short drive away, as is the Mall at Millennia. We would visit here again and recommend this hotel if solely using it as a base to visit the Theme Parks - particularly Universal and Seaworld. It is the wrong end of International Drive if you are planning on solely visiting Disney. Read less

We've stayed here three times previously, but this time was generally much worse. First the good points - location is great for us as we don't have a car so we can walk to Universal, and walk or get the Lynx bus or Uber to everywhere else. The air conditioning was much noisier than it had been previously but still worked, and there was still a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, safe and hairdryer all present in the room. The mini market is good for emergency purchases although expensive, and had an Icee machine which was really welcome and we bought quite a few of those throughout our stay. Housekeeping was poor however. We became ill with a bad cough/cold/chest infection on the second day of our two week stay and remained ill throughout. We'd left the room during housekeeping hours for the first couple of days so that they could clean, but on about the third day, we left the sign on our door as we didn't want to be disturbed. This didn't prevent them from knocking loudly until I answered, and this happened another couple of times throughout the stay, even though it wasn't on consecutive days, and the first time it happened I'd said we were ill. I understand they may want to check the room if you've not let them in for several days, but these were isolated days where we were feeling really ill and didn't want to have to answer the door. On our first evening I noticed a tiny crawling bug in the bathroom, but I squished it and didn't think much of it. A couple of days later whilst making a sandwich on the stand which houses the microwave and refrigerator, I watched another of these tiny insects crawl across my plate. I got my torch out and saw that there were actually a lot of these insects all over the stand, which seemed to be coming out from behind the fridge and microwave. Googling suggested they were sugar ants. We ceased using that area to make food, but noticed that it was never really cleaned properly - there were crumbs from previous guests when I looked closely. The unit didn't get cleaned throughout the stay - evident when housekeeping knocked one day and I mentioned the ants. She asked if I wanted it cleaned - at that point there were only three days left and we were still ill, so I didn't want to have to make allowances to be out of the room when we didn't know if we wanted to stay in bed or not. Why had the unit never been cleaned though?! Further lack of cleaning evident when we were packing on the final day, and my husband found some dirty socks balled up under a corner of the bed. He asked if they were mine - they were not! So they'd been there for at least two weeks. Another problem was that several days into our stay, a large group of people all seemed to take over several rooms on our corridor. They treated it like a party zone - doors left on the latch and slamming often throughout the evening, shouting up and down the corridor and standing talking in large groups in the room with their doors open. This would carry on into the early hours of the morning, and whilst this isn't the hotel's fault, other hotels often have notices up about being mindful of other guests and keeping noise to a minimum during normal resting hours, or security cameras in the corridors so they can monitor for such occurrences. The arcade room had several machines which were broken with signs on, and one took a token and didn't do anything - I think the games are quite old now, and haven't changed much since the first time we came several years ago. Late one night I was looking to make a purchase in the mini market, and a woman came up to me who had been sat in the seating area with a man. She seemed to be asking me for money (in a long-winded way). I'm not sure why they allowed this man and woman to remain in the seating area and pester guests if they weren't staying in the hotel. Wifi was also really unreliable - it often dropped out and didn't come back for quite a while. There were a couple of evenings where we couldn't use it again until the next morning. Checking out was fast - but we were not asked how our stay was. All in all, next time we stay in Orlando we'll be looking at other hotels instead of trying to book this one like we usually do. Located near Universal and a not long drive from other parks, there are shuttle bus options to attend the parks as well. It's also near to various food options, so grabbing a bite is a matter of a short walk or drive. I'd definitely recommend it for a stay in the theme park district. Read less
