This was a hotel for family vacation and we stayed 4 nights. I'm accustomed to hotel shuttles that take you within a certain mile radius, but the "hotel shuttle" is operated by the parks, NOT the hotel. Outbound shuttles to Universal generally had to be reserved 24 hours in advance and upon inquiring about a shuttle to Sea World, was told it’s actually not very practical and that it's easier to take the city transit (no cheaper than an Uber). The shuttle operates for several hotels in the area and on the first day was packed like the subway in New York. It was a little less so on the 2nd day. We ended up taking an Uber back to the hotel on the 2nd day and considering how close Universal is (1-1.5 mi, but NOT safely walkable) you’re probably better off just using Uber the whole time and saving yourself time and hassle (especially if you’re with your family). Check-in was uneventful. The hotel room was clean as was the pool (with a 9' depth). I didn’t have a chance to use the workout room, but it was pretty basic. WiFi slowed to a trickle after about 8pm. Hotel breakfast was about what you’d expect at some of the nicer complimentary breakfasts, BUT it was $10/person and slowed by unnecessary waiter(esse)s. Didn’t try the on-site Shogun, but there are many very good restaurants that are walkable from the hotel (Cafe Mineiro was the best and Shrimp Shack was pretty good). Overall, a fair hotel and a fair price, but take the amenities with a grain of salt. Read less

Breakfast is not included, which is fine since my husband prefers to go to Starbucks. And that said, there is an excellent little convenience store that is open for 24 hours so you can get drinks, snacks, gifts, and toiletries for a reasonable price any time without having to leave the hotel. The restaurant is also a good place to lounge and relax if you want to get out of your room. The bathroom is small, but well designed -- the sink is on the outside so people can wash their hands or brush their teeth while someone else is taking a shower or using the toilet. Downside is the noise. We had a room that faced the freeway and it was noisy. If you arrive early enough or it's not overly booked, ask for a room away from the freeway. Read less

We would stay here again any day! Parking was secured too! Gave coupons to onsite restaurants and none of those expensive resort fees added on! Read less

My room and bed was huge, I requested in advance a high up view, which I got, it was lovely and clean, the maids came every day, and the bed was sooooo comfortable. As a solo traveller that was purely there to go to Universal, and one who doesnt drive, and likes to walk, the location was perfect, from hotel to the park at a nice walk in the heat, and by god it was hot sometimes, especially in the afternoon, took about 25 minutes. Also theres a Walgreens just up the road, which was great for supplies, oh yes, forgot to mention the rooms have a fridge and a microwave, both of which I made great use of, and the coffee maker also makes a great cup of tea for any brits reading this! All in all I cant praise The Rosen enough, for the price, service and quality, no bangs and whistles but I had a brilliant stay and cant wait to go back. Read less

This place is in a great location, unfortunately it is a glorified high rise 'Motel 6',not very clean either, The elevators stank, room service was poor, there was a small refrigerator and a poor microwave,no toaster oven or electric iron
