Rosen Shingle Creek

International Drive, Orlando

The hotel

This isn’t just a holiday resort, it’s a world in itself with so many restaurants and leisure amenities to choose from. For starters, there’s the Arnold Palmer Design Company 18-hole golf course and 4 heated outdoor swimming pools, including 1 wading pool for the kids, one for the sporting amongst you, one for the entire family and one that treasures an altogether quieter atmosphere! The Spa at Shingle Creek is perfect if you want to pamper yourself, with an Everglades scrub and body wrap perhaps or an aromatherapy massage. Alternatively, challenge some new-found friends to a game of tennis, basketball or sand volleyball or simply admire the abundance of nature that surrounds you on a nature trail. Sometimes we say when it comes to dining look no further than your hotel, well, with this hotel, you really don’t need to stray further afield — there are eateries, lounges and bars galore! Mi Casa Tequila Taqueria tailor-makes guacamole to your taste whilst A Land Remembered serves some of the finest steaks in Orlando. Cala Bella, with its high-arched vaulted ceilings is the place to feast on Italian cuisine or tuck into sumptuous buffet dishes courtesy of Cafe Osceola. Guest rooms are very spacious indeed with stunning views of the golf course, from the perfectly manicured fairways and greens to the picturesque creek resplendent with cypress trees — making it even harder to believe that the world’s best theme parks are just a few minutes away!

We stayed at this hotel between 31 Aug and 5 Sep 2019. We are regular holiday makers to Florida, this is our preferred destination. We stayed 9 days in a villa with family then booked the last 6 days, our belated honeymoon, at the Shingle Creek. We did this as it’s advertised as a luxury 5* hotel. Regrettably this was not our experience. Due to the chance of Storm Dorian hitting the resort, the hotel decided to take evasive action. Sadly they were completely over cautious. They closed their flagship restaurants, the spa and golf club. We had chosen this hotel for their many and varied facilities which were then inaccessible. Even before locals arrived for short term respite from the ‘anticipated’ storm, guests were present with dogs. There were a great number of them and despite hotel rules about where they could be, this was ignored and not policed by the hotel staff. Finally on check out day the hotel placed a bill under our room door for over $600, this was really distressing, Momentarily i assumed we were being charged for WIFI or maybe an unexpected resort change. Turned out is was just an error!! The only positives we found are that the architecture and styling is very nice, the hotel is spacious and if the facilities were open, I’m sure we would have had a good time. Overall, this stay was such a let down, based on this stay we would never recommend a Rosen hotel to anyone. Read less

During Hurrican Dorian, we stayed at this hotel ... very nice, well maintain and very nice service... we stayed for just 2 nights but it was worthy ... not sure why there is a different company that does the Bell services (moving bags to/from rooms), because that may take a little longer. The hotel is very nice and have a huge areas to walk and… Read more

I visited this hotel with my boyfriend for a week in June and I just don't see myself staying in another hotel when visiting Orlando again. The views were outstanding and the range of pools were so lovely, all different temperatures so you could choose depending on how hot it was. The staff were all so polite and it was nice having a range of onsite cafes and restaurants, as well as the market. The market was a tad pricey, but it was nice being able to go in at night time and getting a pizza to take to our room. They have a range of snacks and a microwave to use. It was a short drive to I-Drive and the parks as well. It was very clean in the rooms, and the pillows are really comfy! Lovely shower and modern bathroom. The decor in the bedroom area is a tad outdated but nothing that really takes away from how lovely the rest of the hotel is. Restaurants on site are also quite expensive, but if you're hungry you can always just go down the road to a Denny's or Hooters. Read less

The main thing I want to state is that this is clearly not a family or couples hotel (unfortunately it was sold to us in this manner prior to our trip). This hotel is for conferences and business as far as we could tell. Service was incredibly impersonal, borderline rude. We arrived for our honeymoon excited and thankfully had a great trip otherwise, but were severely disappointed with the Rosen Shingle Creek. No recognition of our honeymoon was made at all, not even a polite congratulations on arrival. Staff were business like and never asked us about our stay or how we were. Most staff we interacted with were unfriendly which was in contrast to anywhere else in Orlando. Our room was very dated, smelt damp and wasn't cleaned daily. The amenities all come at a hefty cost so unfortunately although we were excited about the spa we were unable to visit it at all. The food prices were astonishingly high at the shop, yet the hotel is so large that walking to the nearest shops was quite difficult. This also meant we were unable to walk anywhere and spent a lot on taxis. I would not recommend this hotel in any way. We felt that everything was incredibly impersonal and that the amount of conference guests hugely outnumbered us in both their importance and quantity. Read less
