To start, we have stayed at this resort 3 times before so obviously like it. When we arrived after the long flight from the UK we were disappointed with the check in experience, first we had to wait for a while then we felt unwelcome. The host barely spoke, just gave us the paperwork and checked on his phone that the unit was ready, it was past check in time. We found our way to the unit, and walked in to find a bucket in the dinning area with a hole in the ceiling. There had clearly been a leak, this should have been mentioned at check in. We decided to just get on, and unpacked and went to bed by 9pm as it was 2am UK time. We were woken after 9.30pm by someone knocking on the door, it was maintenance checking on the leak. He did apologise but it was rather unsettling. He left the bucket and someone let themselves in the following day to remove the bucket, but the dirty floor wasn’t cleaned. The rest of our stay went well, apart from Tropical storm Debby, thank goodness for free cable including the Disney channel. There were also a couple of maintenance issues which we did not mention, the ice maker on the fridge didn’t work and we found a tiny dead frog under the bed in the master bedroom. We would still visit again Read less

We stayed as a family of four in a 2 bedroom premium apartment. On arrival check-in was efficient and we had luckily been assigned an apartment next to the main club house and pool. The apartment itself was very clean and had all the amenities you needed except for an iron and ironing board. Smart TVs in every room, washing machine and tumble dryer plus a dish washer. All seemed brand new. The pool was good, again clean and warm. No slides or anything grand but they did have a splash pool for the little ones. I believe that a new pool has opened in the half of the resort over the road. Pool bar was great, service was good though the prices are expensive if you are coming from the UK. You can however take in your own food and drink if wanted. As this is a timeshare resort we were worried about parties, noise and the general ambience but everyone was great. No drunks at the pool which we have experienced at Disney. The location for the parks and attractions is fantastic. The new Universal Park is being built directly across the road and the existing Universal Park is a 10 min Uber ($10 - $25). Disney is a little further at around 15 - 20 mins. Within walking distance there are cafes and a supermarket. Beth's Burgers and Moma's Cafe get a special mention. They don't look great but the food is good and prices even better. We really enjoyed our stay and would 100% return Read less

This was our second stay at the resort in a “premium” suite, however unlike the first time the accommodation and experience was very disappointing. The person on the front desk as we checked in must have been having a very bad day, he was shockingly unwelcoming with no smile or enthusiasm. Our suite was at best very very tired (see photos). Curtains crumpled, ill hanging and threadbare. There were huge water stains on ceilings in living room, bedroom and balcony. During a storm water came through the middle bedroom ceiling (near window) and in the living room. A huge water bulge on the balcony (more obvious given the patches all over the area) looked fit to burst so avoided using the area. The fridge freezer door didn’t close properly, plates were plastic picnic versions and the fridge water filter clearly showed it needed replacement. The dishwater left cutlery dirty so hand washing was required. The bed in the main bedroom was so uncomfortable with the mattress so worn you dropped into hollows. The bedroom chest of drawers were visibly screwed to hold them in place. We reported a dog (presumably left alone in a suite below) which barked during the day and night. The response was to ring security if it bothered us. We were told no other accommodation was available to move as it was a busy time of year. Sadly I don’t think we will return to Vista Cay until suites are renovated. Read less
