The hotel

There are far too many facilities at this marvellous 1,500-acre resort to detail here. The swimming pool is the kind that has kids gasping with wonder - waterfalls, grottos, whirlpools and a 124-ft long water slide tower, as well as a new water jet splash zone and rock climbing areas for kids, creates an aqueous wonderland. On the lake, you can practice kayaking, canoeing, or just simply pedal away toward the sunset. There is even a white sand beach for those waiting to sit back and relax, and 45 holes of top golf, with a pitch 'n' putt for non-golfers to enjoy. There are some great restaurants and bars; the pool bar, On the Rock, is located by Lake Windsong, offering views of the lake and the pool, four 60" TVs, a full service bar and food service options. Leave everything behind to enjoy the happiest of hours under palm tree canopies and moon-drenched evening skies at Four Flamingos, a Richard Blais Florida Kitchen that provides an immersive dining and drinking experience reminiscent of a dreamy, tropical oasis. Be one of the first to enjoy their newest recreational features: New Water slide, Water Jet Splash zone, rock climbing for kids and the pool bar!

Longtime Hilton Honors people, we were unfamiliar with the Hyatt brand, but if this resort is indicative of normal Hyatt we will soon be converts. First of all, this was perhaps the best service, overall, we've received anywhere in the world, even at 5-diamond resorts. At every experience, the staff went above and beyond to please us. The housekeeper, after the first night, started leaving us three bottles of water instead of two because she was astute to notice that three people were staying in the room. Linda, of pool security, chatted us up like we were old friends. EVERY single interaction with staff at both front and back of house was positive. Also, the SPEED of service, especially in food and beverage ... yowza! Drinks ordered poolside appeared ALWAYS within five minutes. Food orders never took longer than 10 minutes, everywhere in the resort, and this was during a full-capacity Easter weekend. Also, who can't love the guest lounge with showers for peeps who need to check out but want to linger at the pool all day, awaiting a flight!? It was so nice being able to clean up before heading to the airport. We also were impressed by the large amount of natural land adjacent to the hotel, complete with hiking paths, and ancient oaks and cypress knees and little lakes and creeks. We were surprised to find this large of a natural space within the middle of Orlando metro.....but, alas, were saddened to hear that Hyatt had sold it all to another company for development. Staff told us the only thing Hyatt will own is the pool and hotel, which is a shame. Thank you, Hyatt Grand Cypress, for a great Easter weekend! Read less

TL;DR: When staying at this hotel with young children, please be cautious of the guard railings. Younger children may be able to fit through them, posing a significant danger. The hotel does not prominently warn guests nor provide safety measures automatically. Such precautions must be specifically requested. Review: I stayed at the hotel from March 30 to April 4. Upon arrival and entering my room, I immediately noticed that the balcony's guardrails seemed unusually wide. After measuring them, I confirmed they were indeed wide enough for my child to potentially fall through. This realization alarmed me, especially since there were no warnings, despite the hotel being aware of our young child's presence (we had requested a pack-and-play for the room). Disturbed by this oversight, I approached the manager. I expressed my understanding that the guardrails might predate current safety standards, but I also pointed out simple measures the hotel could undertake to address the issue more seriously. For instance, warning signs could be placed on all screen doors leading to the balcony (currently, there are none). While the hotel offers safety pins, these are ineffective without clear awareness of the potential danger. Moreover, I suggested the hotel could proactively install safety nets for any room booking that includes a crib, pack-and-play, or notes the presence of children under the age of 10. I was informed that my concerns and suggestions would be relayed to the hotel's leadership on April 1, 2023; however, I have yet to receive a response. What further aggravates my frustration is discovering reviews on this site, dating back over a decade, highlighting the same issues. It appears that no significant steps have been taken to mitigate the risk of a potential tragedy. Read less

Additionally we had an issue upon checkout. The evening manager though technically followed policy she had no concern for the issue and I believe did not follow the intent of the policy. The policy was used as an excuse as to not do the "right thing" or provide the proper customer service. Read less
