The hotel

When you’re booking a trip to the theme parks in Orlando, you don’t imagine that you’d be able to find a haven of relaxation and luxury right in the centre – well here it is. The JW Marriott Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort & Spa sits within the gates of Walt Disney World Resort, with a shuttle service taking you to the park gates in no time at all. The action is right around you, but when you step into the resort you’l find yourself in a 75-acre protected oasis where you can recuperate. The rooms have a sleek, sophisticated design, with ample space in the family suites for larger groups. And from the family suite accommodations to the rock climbing, garden golf, and the activity schedule at the kids club, there’s always something to keep the little ones entertained, rain or shine, whatever their hobbies. Whilst they’re occupied in resort, be sure to visit the spa by JW, inspired by the rejuvenating warmth of the ‘Sunshine State’, these treatments will have you feeling your best in no time. Disney Springs is just 5 miles away, with its wide variety of restaurants and bars on offer, but the JW Marriott have plenty of their own to save you the trip on those tired evenings. illume is a particular favourite for guests, located on the 9th floor, giving you a great vantage point for the Disney fireworks whilst enjoying Asian inspired tapas and fresh sushi. For those chilled poolside afternoons, check out the happy hour at Unreserved Beer Garden, where you can enjoy a range of craft beers or a chilled glass of rose in the late afternoon sun.

first day we were welcomed with a “free upgrade” to the firework view. you couldnt see the fireworks but we were overlooking the air con system. so our free upgrade was obviously the result of someone else complaining, it was obvious we got their room. it was insulting they called it an upgrade. Rooms weren’t serviced even though we’d been away from the hotel from 9am until 9pm no clean cups, no refills of coffee, milk etc. beds etc. they offered to service the room at 10.30 pm but we needed to get to bed. its not like they even offered a coffee while we waited. The following day beds were done but nothing to drink out of, we had coffee but no cups. Also glasses from room service weren’t collected form previous night. today we wanted to grab a meal at the restaurant but we were told that the entire restaurant was closed for a private event. the restaurant is listed on booking.com as part of the facilities. we could have nachos by the pool. if you are choosing bonnet creek choose the wyndham grande. it has a great firework view overlooking the lake. they service the rooms. the service is 100% better and its about 1/2 the price. the Marriot has corridors littered with room service plates that stay there all day. its dirty and does not feel like quality. This has put us off the Marriot brand Read less

Magic can be good or bad, depending on your vantage point. Amongst many of the perks of being a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador member is the complementary suite upgrade. This property had always been very accommodating and adhered to the membership benefit rules, for the past 2 years I've been here, a suite was always offered due to my status. I had my personal ambassador reach out before this trip to see if a suite upgrade can be granted and was told that based on availability at check-in, it would be granted. I checked during the morning of my flight/check-in and there were multiple suite options available. Upon check-in at 1:45pm, I was denied due to "lack of available suites" by both the junior and senior associate. I pulled up my booking app and showed them that there were suites available to which they looked me straight in my face and told me that was a computer mistake. I then proceeded to take a screenshot and offered to show this to the manager. Miraculously, after requesting to speak with the floor manager and waiting for 5 minutes, I asked again about the availability of the suites to which Kate (manager) responded "check now please," unsurprisingly, the suite booking options no longer were available. The manager then proceeded to tell me someone booked within the last 5 minutes and that was the reason for its disappearance. Very serendipitous wouldn't you say?! Having been on the road way too much (1056 nights with Marriott, Hyatt Globalist, and Hilton Diamond) and being friends with hospitality management, I know local management have the capability to block out rooms on their end from public view/booking to limit occupancy and capacity. For someone to do this to antagonize a valued ambassador member is disappointing to say the very least, not to mention the potential loss of revenue in the public arena from restricted booking. As a follow up, now it is local time 6pm, two additional suite types now have "magically" reappeared on the booking app, I guess you can only risk not selling out your suites for so long. I went downstairs to inquire about this miraculous change in room availability and potential for the team to do a service recovery, to which I was met with the same excuse previously by Tyler... "oh sorry but this is a glitch, we cannot upgrade you even though rooms are available for booking on the app." Being lied to twice in a day and slapped around is just astounding, I am left speechless, to what do I owe the pleasure of deserving such "fine" treatments from the team at JW Marriott Bonnet Creek?! For the past 3 years, our organization has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars during our annual retreat each year at this property, I will definitely share this unsavory incident with other members of the team and consider booking elsewhere, where valued guests feel appreciated rather than ending up as victims of bad voodoo magic and open disrespect. The hotel was beautiful and everyone working there was so kind. Brenda F. was awesome making up the extra bed for our son and made us feel extra cozy and welcome after our flight home was canceled. She even gave him a cute cow stuffy! Would definitely recommend and we will come back again next year.
