Aloft Atlanta Downtown

Atlanta, Georgia

The hotel

An upscale pad in downtown Atlanta, this highly styled hotel has a luxe loft vibe, from the guestrooms’ 9ft high ceilings to the gym and bar’s exposed industrial pipes. Funky designer furniture in lime green, bright teal, and sunny yellow and orange, are coupled with splashes of neon in the public zones, but the fuss-free guestrooms make for a calm city stay, just a walk from top attractions like World of Coca Cola, Centennial Olympic Park, and Philips Arena. Of course you get modern essentials like free WiFi, but they’ve also loaded on urban extras like the uber-chic outdoor pool zone, the pool table at their Re:mix℠ Lounge, the Live@Aloft music sessions and al fresco ‘front yard’ at W XYZ® Bar, and the 24 hour snack pit stop, Re:fuel by Aloft.

Staff were super friendly and made us smile. Room was clean and adequate. Location is fabulous--a block off Peachtree Street. Bottom line: this is not a luxury hotel. It is clean and more than acceptable for a place to sleep and shower. If you want to be waited on hand a foot, go pay the exorbitant prices at the big fancy hotels.

Located two blocks from the world of coke and Georgia aquarium. I love this location. And then my wife had access to entertainment center with a very short walk. Room are large enough and clean. The staff has been extra friendly, all smiles and good service. Keisha got us a room quickly when we arrived way before check in time. It’s worth saving a little money and being a little closer to attractions and several very good restaurants. Only complaint is the bathroom light took time to charge and then didn’t turn on, but I’m sure it would be fixed if I called about it. Read less

If you are looking for personable staff or just need someone to make you smile...JOSH at ALOFT hotel downtown Atlanta is by far the BEST, and most personable, parking Valets I have ever encountered in my travels. Rain or shine, snow or ice, he was there...every single day of the January Market, bright and early to greet us and provide exceptional customer service. He was always professional and greeted us with a smile each and every time. I hardly ever take time to write reviews for any service provider, but JOSH has certainly earned his recognition. I was in town again this March and made a special trip to stop by ALOFT just to say hello. Even though it may cost us a few extra dollars we plan to utilize the valet services at ALOFT HOTEL again for the July market coming up. Thank you Josh! Always good to see you! Read less

We stayed at the Aloft Atlanta Downtown this past weekend for the Olympic Trials Marathon. I have to say that this was the worst Marriott hotel that I have ever stayed in. I am a Marriott Platinum member -- I only stay at Marriott Hotels and I have never been treated so poorly. The hotel is massively understaffed. Not only is it understaffed, they are under trained employees. Employees have no knowledge of the Marriott system they are using and clearly, no manners or professionalism. I called ahead to notify the hotel of our late flight and arrival -- to ensure that we would receive a decent room. Was this note on our account at arrival? No. We reserved a King room and we did receive a King. Here is the kicker, the room was for handicap visitors. We didn't know this until we walked up to our room. IN THE ROOM: The shower curtain was utterly pointless. When you showered, the floor was covered in water. Meaning, once you shower, you are standing in a pool of water while you get ready and blow drying your hair. So fun, right? So safe, right? The room smelled like mold because the shower is a wet floor and pours over into the carpet. The bathroom door doesn't close fully. No privacy. The shades were broken -- electronically on the wall and the manual mechanism on the blinds as well. Meaning, you couldn't close them no matter what. The carpet was dirty. The shower curtain was filthy. There was poorly patched holes all over the room. THEY DO NO RESPECT THE DND/PRIVACY NOTES. We placed the privacy+dnd note on the door -- this did not stop house keeping from coming into our room. On top of that, they moved and dug through our belongings, used some of my products and stole prescription medication! At check out, I notified the manager of the theft and her response was "that is strange, you must have requested towels." We didn't -- we didn't ask for any additional items. Their staff goes in all the rooms to dig through items and steal. I called numerous times to Aloft Atlanta and Marriott Corporate to resolve, but no reply. I filed a Police Report with Atlanta PD regarding the theft and emailed corporate and Aloft the report. Bottom line: DO NOT STAY HERE. Aloft is like a Monet. Looks good from afar, but terrible up close. If you stay here, you are staying in an overpriced hostel. Complete garbage. Read less

I chose the Aloft because I had to go to Atlanta for business conference over Valentine's day weekend (4 days - Thurs-Sun), and I did not want to leave my husband and his service-dog-in-training home that weekend. I called the Atlanta downtown Aloft and spoke with Win (Gwin?) at the front desk and asked some dog questions - Is this completely dog friendly? (yes) Is there a place my husband can eat with the dog? (yes - she said people sit in the bar area where there are high top tables and the dogs can sit under them). Great - my company co-workers were in a hotel nearby ($8 cab ride one way) so I decided to do it. We got there and discovered that (a) there is nowhere dogs can go where humans can eat (and no room service so ? My husband is supposed to starve for 4 days?)....(b) there is no covered area where dogs can poddy (it poured/flash flooded the first 24 hours we were there)....(c) pets are only allowed on one floor - and it is directly over the main floor so LOUD (pool table and booming music right under our room until late). The check-in person gave me a list of rules about the dog, and I said, "but wait, I called ahead and was told dogs could be in the bar area at high-tops when people eat." The front desk lady looked at me and said, "Oh, Can't you read? I just gave you our dog rules." I said, "Yes, I can read, that is why I am concerned. We just drove 8 hours to get here, and Win(Gwin?) had told me my husband could get food here." She said, "Apparently you can't read. I just showed you our policy. You cannot have your dog in the bar area at those tables." She was NOT nice. Our dog (who has slept through the night every night since we got him) was up half of the night, and beside himself by morning. He had to go outside in the pouring rain to relieve himself and we were all drowned by the time he came back in. My husband packed up all of our stuff, our dog, and took he and the car back home; while I booked a flight home Sunday. I had pre-paid the hotel so couldn't move to where my colleagues were. Overall, this 4 day work weekend cost me more than a nice trip somewhere on vacation, and I spent it alone in a dirty hotel, having to cab/uber back and forth to my event, without my husband, and will NEVER recommend Aloft to anyone. Meanwhile, the room smelled (we had to move rooms once because the first one was full of cigarette smoke, even though this is a no smoking hotel), I had a cockroach who hung out on the desk, and the management allowed children to run around screaming in the hallways from midnight to 4 a.m. every night. Worst experience ever. Read less
