The hotel

An upscale pad in downtown Atlanta, this highly styled hotel has a luxe loft vibe, from the guestrooms’ 9ft high ceilings to the gym and bar’s exposed industrial pipes. Funky designer furniture in lime green, bright teal, and sunny yellow and orange, are coupled with splashes of neon in the public zones, but the fuss-free guestrooms make for a calm city stay, just a walk from top attractions like World of Coca Cola, Centennial Olympic Park, and Philips Arena. Of course you get modern essentials like free WiFi, but they’ve also loaded on urban extras like the uber-chic outdoor pool zone, the pool table at their Re:mix℠ Lounge, the Live@Aloft music sessions and al fresco ‘front yard’ at W XYZ® Bar, and the 24 hour snack pit stop, Re:fuel by Aloft.

As I write this, it is 65 degrees outside and literally 85 in the hallways. Tried to call the front desk to let them know the hallways were set to “hell” for temperature and after 10 attempts gave up. The room is Ok. Cleanish. It smelled like pot when we got to it but I had some air freshener and it got a bit better. Front desk did offer a change… Read more

Keep in mind that this review does not reflect the staff, only owners and upper management of Marriot Hotels. To begin... I cannot understand why, when there is a major event, the Hotel management does not have a contingency plan when employees call in. We came to the hotel at 8:30pm to check in. I came in the door and the line was long and only ONE person at the desk checking in travelers. Again, no reflection on her, but someone from DAYTIME MANAGEMENT should have stepped up to the plate to help get people checked in when employees call in or just don't show up at all. It took 45 min to get checked in.! 2. Mold in our bathroom. 3. Only one elevator in operation and the broken one has been that way since our last stay in May! Had to wait 20 min on elevator. 4. Searching for a parking place in back. Could t find one because trucks with trailers park parallel taking up 5 places. They need to park and unhitch. The trailer in one spot and their vehicle in another so 3 spots will left for others. 4. The price of parking was for a 24 hour period in previous visits. Now it is PER NIGHT STAY! Ridiculous! $64 to park your vehicle!!! When you are already paying nearly $200 per night to stay! 5. I wanted to get a cup of yogurt and a Pepsi Zero for breakfast. I went to pay and the cashier told me it would be $16!!!! I had her repeat it because I could not believe my ears!!! Needless to say, it went right back on the shelf. 6. The coffee stand, tables and lobby were filthy. Trash everywhere and tables had food and sticky residue all over them. Marriot Hotels used to be a respectable hotel with great reputation. Several other guests said they would not be back and neither will I Read less

I would never stay here again........ or at any other Aloft location for that matter. My experience has even made me reconsider the entire Marriott Bonvoy hotel chain after the complete lack of response from their customer care department. Filthy, unhygienic rooms and the most unhospitable staff I have ever encountered. Everything here is broken or dirty, including the elevators. I've tried to speak with the manager several times and sent several emails, but have yet to receive a meaningful response. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR GUESTS. This location is simple a money grab due to it's proximity to the stadium and conference center. Read less

From the outside, and the lobby you would think that the Aloft is a nice hotel, but you would be wrong. Upon arriving in our room we had to clean the sink and bathroom counter as it was filthy. There was standing water inside of the mini fridge, which also had to be taken care of. The bathroom mirror was cracked the full length of the mirror. The towel hanger was holding on by no more than a couple of threads of the screw securing it to the wall. We had a two queen room as that is all that was available as it was during a large convention in the area. One bed was super comfortable (one of the only bright spots for this hotel), the other was hard as a rock. The room seemed to have ample outlets, but only half of them actually worked. I don't mean entire outlets didn't work, I mean the top outlet would work, but the bottom outlet wouldn't. One of the outlets actually started to pull out of the wall altogether. Seems like a fire hazard. Which made the fact that there wasn't a microwave in the room seem like a good idea, but still annoying nonetheless. If you wanted to heat anything up you had to take the elevator down to the lobby. Speaking of elevators, only one of them worked. A fully booked, 10 floor hotels with one working elevator, let that sink in. Which unless you have a room on the 7th floor, you're going to need to take because the 7th floor has the only working ice machine we could find. The cherry on top was that while the room was booked by my employer using their credit card, we were asked to have our credit card on file for incidentals, which was promptly charged for the room, twice. There are plenty of options in the downtown hotel district, choose somewhere else to stay. Read less
