Aloft Atlanta Downtown

Atlanta, Georgia

Virgin rating

The hotel

An upscale pad in downtown Atlanta, this highly styled hotel has a luxe loft vibe, from the guestrooms’ 9ft high ceilings to the gym and bar’s exposed industrial pipes. Funky designer furniture in lime green, bright teal, and sunny yellow and orange, are coupled with splashes of neon in the public zones, but the fuss-free guestrooms make for a calm city stay, just a walk from top attractions like World of Coca Cola, Centennial Olympic Park, and Philips Arena. Of course you get modern essentials like free WiFi, but they’ve also loaded on urban extras like the uber-chic outdoor pool zone, the pool table at their Re:mix℠ Lounge, the Live@Aloft music sessions and al fresco ‘front yard’ at W XYZ® Bar, and the 24 hour snack pit stop, Re:fuel by Aloft.

Perks- walking distance to attractions and eateries. Cons- POOR staff relations (not in the least Welcoming) heated pool was closed during Spring Break Air conditioner was broken No places to hang towels to dry Bathroom door does not stay closed Stupid lighting set up-seriously just separate the light switches No simple desk items for planning- no information about local area or even a hotel menu NOTHING No vents No places to unpack clothing ( one small open wall unit for everything Hard beds No daily maid service - ours came 1 time in 3 days No trash bags - no daily maid service to remove trash Empty shampoo No free continental breakfast items and expensive microwaved items for sale Front desk staff was borderline rude- one member spoke of being left to work all alone during busy times ( perhaps part of reason for rude appearance) Nothing of this stay was welcoming nor was the set up traveler friendly While this list may seem petty- I am understating just how disappointing these things are when you are on Vacation. If you just want a bed and shower this may be fine- but seriously at least similarly price accommodations can get even this simple stuff right. Read less

i was impressed at how bad the staff is here from management on down. from the checkin period till the end the place was a full time job. invasive ,stuffy, cookie-cutter, thoughtlessly done, and the staff would have been better trained at walmart

I was staying at the hotel and had some drinks with a colleague at the bar. I paid for my drinks and tipped. My colleague bought one drink. They could not read his handwriting so they could not figure out which room to charge. Absolutely pathetic. Everything. No soap, lights don’t work. Telephone doesn’t work to call front desk. Room was 90 degrees when we checked in and never cooled off! No bar or restaurant service. One elevator not working. Rooms old, beat up. Again. Pathetic. Marriott should be ashamed.
