The hotel

An upscale pad in downtown Atlanta, this highly styled hotel has a luxe loft vibe, from the guestrooms’ 9ft high ceilings to the gym and bar’s exposed industrial pipes. Of course you get modern essentials like free WiFi, but they’ve also loaded on urban extras like the uber-chic outdoor pool zone, the pool table at their Re:mix℠ Lounge, the Live@Aloft music sessions and al fresco ‘front yard’ at W XYZ® Bar, and the 24 hour snack pit stop, Re:fuel by Aloft.

The entrance to the room is very odd and needs some attention in the housekeeping department. I really dislike photos that are taken when a property is brand new or renovated but when you arrive, it’s apparent nobody cares to maintain it. I stay in lots of hotels for business and really just want safe and clean. Those are my nonnegotiables. I won’t stay here again strictly due to lack of cleanliness. Read less

Let me start off by saying I only stay in Marriott properties so I know brand standards. This hotel has a great location, the downside is parking is expensive (as expected). The front desk and valet staff were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Kudos to them! The room has a nice view of midtown, the bed was comfortable, the water pressure… Read more

The front desk and valet staff were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Kudos to them! The room has a nice view of midtown, the bed was comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was great but the lighting in the shower stall was dark, there was plenty of counter space to put your things despite the lack of closet space. The linens were soft and plush, towels included. They have free waffles for breakfast but I didn’t try. They have special floors (upper floors) reserved for Bonvoy Elite members, which was great! Overall, if you need to be centrally located, this is a good hotel. Read less

What started out as a great weekend in Atlanta ended with disappointment after a stay at Aloft. I wish I had read more of the lower rated reviews to fully understand the level of service the hotel offers. Even after a year, the staff haven't improved or corrected the issues arising from the complaints in the reviews. Mine began after realizing mid-flight home that I had left a jacket hanging in the room. As soon as I got home (4 1/2 hours after checkout), Since I knew that housekeeping wouldn't be cleaning the room until later in the evening, I immediately called the hotel to report the issue, telling them specifically the room number, location and description of the item left behind. What I should have realized is that the jacket was probably never to be found before I finished the phone call. But, believing the hotel was an above board establishment, I spoke with no less than 5 different hotel employees over a period of 2 days before I finally contacted Marriott International. My complaint was assigned a case number and I was assured I would hear back from Aloft within 3-5 business days. When I finally did hear back, I was asked for the 3rd time for the same preliminary information. After wasting 3 weeks of my time by asking the same questions over and over, I gave up that anyone there was capable of finding it. Surely there can't be that many places to look and even if there were, how long does it take to look? It's either there or someone on the staff activated their own version of the Marriott Rewards program. Either way, I will never stay at that hotel again. I may have lost a $100 jacket but Marriott has lost a future customer. Read less
