The Westin Peachtree Plaza

Atlanta, Georgia

Virgin rating

The hotel

A statement hotel, this glass column stretches far above neighbouring high rises to give unrivalled views over Atlanta through its floor-to-ceiling windows. To top it all off, literally, it’s capped with The Sun Dial, a three-tiered venue featuring a revolving restaurant, rotating cocktail lounge, and observatory floor with 360-degree views, all reached by an external glass elevator that scales the glazed cylinder in just 85 seconds. Far below, on the 11th floor, the indoor pool’s just as spectacular, with its curved glass roof folding away to let in the sun on hot Atlanta days. To celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2016, the Westin Peachtree Plaza was treated to a $70 million renovation, adding extras like BikeWESTIN cycles, and turning this statuesque pillar into one of downtown Atlanta’s most up-to-date pads.

In the heart of Atlanta the 73 story cylinder shaped property puts you high in the clouds…literally. Rooms have floor to ceiling windows and the Sundial lookout provides 365 degree views of the city. Was with a large convention and cannot say enough about the cuisine and service. Hope to bring another group here soon!

Definitely not a Westin quality experience. I stayed 4 nights for a business meeting. Arrived to check in 5:30 and had two in line in front of me. It took almost 20 minutes to check in. Other than slow, it was smooth. I chose to skip housekeeping in exchange for $5/night Starbucks card and extra hotel points. My friends did not take the deal, but still did not get housekeeping for at least the first day (they didnt mention anything about the following days). Room it self was ok, carpet was worn. Room was clean, but tub corners were starting to mold. One of the bed comforter had an ugly stain (looked like mucus ) in one corner (I did not sleep in that bed). It looked like the stain was purposely hidden from view. No soap at the bathroom sink. The body soap dispenser in the bath was empty. No trash cans in the bedroom area. I asked the front desk for a trash can, soap for the sink and refill the soap dispenser in the tub. The dispenser and trash can were handled by the time I got back to my room, but there was no soap for the sink. There was a house keeper in the hall. I asked her for a bar of soap and she said that they do not have them. I find it hard to believe that the hotel does not support hand washing. Two of the four mornings there was no hot water for a shower. When I called the front desk, I was told to wait 15 minutes or so and it should be available. Unfoturnately, when you have a meeting, to be at, that is not acceptable. We also noticed that there were not any hand sanitizers anywhere in the hotel. We did have drinks in the bar. The service was slow and orders were forgotten. The food provided for our meetings was above average for hotel meeting food, but the bacon served with breakfast was reminiscent of chewing on cardboard. The meeting space temperature was appropriate and constant the entire time. Breaks were always available on time. Chairs and tables were comfortable. Read less

Mother/Daughter trip to Atlanta. The hotel was lovely, beds were comfortable, rooms were clean but parking was so confusing...which garage?, how much? etc and no one at the desk could answer our questions. But we finally figured it out. $40 for overnight parking was a bit steep though! The hotel was right next to the Hard Rock Cafe and walking… Read more

Lobby is a really cool space- amazing architecture with a big bar and gift shop. This is a really popular place for events and we saw a huge line for check in at one point but could easily have used a mobile key. Rooms are on the smaller side and the bathroom is tight, but the views are great and beds made with high quality linens and pillows. Never had to wait for an elevator despite being on the 61st floor which was nice. Didn’t try the sundial restaurant on the top floor but it looks EXPENSIVE. Valet garage was full when we arrived and we had to rely on garage parking elsewhere so be careful about your arrival times. Overall a really cool hotel with great character and if I return to Atlanta I’d stay here without hesitation. Read less

We love this location. The view is amazing. We were on the high floor. The pool was nice and comfortable. The breakfast was pricey but we would go again because of the ambiance and view. We also visited the restaurant on level 4 ? not the Sundown on top. The food was pricey and good but it was not enough on the plate. I was celebrating my wife… Read more
