The Westin Peachtree Plaza

Atlanta, Georgia

The hotel

A statement hotel, this glass column stretches far above neighbouring high rises to give unrivalled views over Atlanta through its floor-to-ceiling windows. To top it all off, literally, it’s capped with The Sun Dial, a three-tiered venue featuring a revolving restaurant, rotating cocktail lounge, and observatory floor with 360-degree views, all reached by an external glass elevator that scales the glazed cylinder in just 85 seconds. Far below, on the 11th floor, the indoor pool’s just as spectacular, with its curved glass roof folding away to let in the sun on hot Atlanta days. To celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2016, the Westin Peachtree Plaza was treated to a $70 million renovation, adding extras like BikeWESTIN cycles, and turning this statuesque pillar into one of downtown Atlanta’s most up-to-date pads.

Where do I begin? We arrived to mayhem at the valet on Sunday evening. Partygoers were everywhere drinking and smoking before we even got out of our car. The valet staff did not seem to care as one of the valet workers was partying with the group. I didn’t know if I would be shot or mugged in the valet area. Once we checked in, we were very disappointed to find the size of the room to be much smaller than what is advertised. Much like many other reviewers, we were greeted by the smell of marijuana every time we went into the hallway. Staff were generally helpful, but we couldn’t understand why the “spring break party” behavior was tolerated. The bathroom was not as clean is it should be, in particular there were black spots in the toilet bowl. The mattress and pillows were clearly beyond their best days and should have been replaced. In general, this property was nowhere close to the standards we’ve been used to at other Westin properties. We checked out a day early, and still haven’t been able to resolve a refund for the unused night. We will definitely will not stay here again. As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite member, I can honestly say this property should not hold the Westin name in its current condition. Read less

I was a little nervous staying downtown but I felt very safe at the Westin. The hotel is not offering many services during Covid but I was told told that in room dining was available. All the major delivery services were also available. Starbucks in the lobby was operating on limited hours. Like most hotels that I have stayed in during the pandemic, your room is only serviced on request, however the maid was extremely accommodating and had everything I needed on her cart. She was generous with extra coffee, cups, water, towels etc. She even loaned me a bottle opener as I had forgotten mine. My room was perfectly clean on arrival. All the staff at the Westin were extremely polite and helpful. I had business at Americasmart and came well prepared. I could walk over to Building 1 from the connecting bridge. This part of town has suffered badly as a result of Corona, and the protesting. If you are female and traveling alone, I would recommend staying here. Just make sure you bring drinks, snacks and don't plan on dining out - there are not many options. I am looking forward to returning and hope that the area businesses recover quickly. Read less

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend get away to Atlanta. We noticed that there were some recent bad reviews, but we thought that it could have been a fluke. We were wrong.... The hotel is very unique compared to the surrounding buildings, and it is very tall with great views. We stayed on the 30th floor and had an excellent view of the sunsets. The view was the only memorable part about the room. The room and bathroom are in a desperate need of upgrades/renovations. The room was definitely not kept up to the usual Westin standard. There were smudges on the mirrors and long hairs left behind. The hallways, elevators, and valet/hotel entrance area constantly had a strong smell of weed. There was always trash littered throughout the hallways. The hotel seemed more like a party hotel than a Westin. There were very rude guests who went through the hallways yelling and screaming at all hours of the night. There seemed to be a lack of hotel security to prevent this kind of behavior from reoccurring. We weren’t able to get much sleep because of that. My wife and I planned to stay 3 nights, but we left after staying 2. The location of this hotel is great for walking to the area attractions such as the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-cola, College Football Hall of Fame, etc.. however, be aware that there are homeless people (some who are obviously strung out on drugs) wondering around the property, which could be uncomfortable for some people, especially if you’re walking alone. Overall, I was very disappointed with this hotel and would not recommend staying here. I learned my lesson, always trust TripAdvisor! Read less

I was very disappointed with our stay this past weekend. The 1st set of 3 rooms we were given had 1 with dirty bedding, looked liked the sheets had just been pulled up you could still see the impression of who had slept there, another of the rooms smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke I almost gagged. After going down to the front we were given 3 new rooms. The elevators and hallways smelled of marijuana. We were not told at check in that housekeeping was not being done during our stay. Every thing was closed in the hotel, pool, restaurant. Definitely not worth the money we spent for 3 rooms 2 nights. Read less

My wife and I just spent a couple of days at the Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel in Atlanta. The facilities were very nice. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. We were on the 54th floor, facing towards the west, overlooking Centennial Olympic Park, The dome, and the Georgia aquarium. The view was beautiful, and the city lights at night were a sight to see. The hotel was opened when we were teenagers, and now we’re grandparents. The building and our room were still very nice, comfortable, and fresh feeling. The Sundial restaurant along with several of the entrances to the hotel were closed due to the current health concerns. The view from our room was beautiful. I would recommend staying here if you are traveling to Atlanta. Valet parking is available at the hotel for $45 a night. We reserved a parking spot on-line across the street for much less. We had a great time and look forward to visiting again. Read less
