The Westin Peachtree Plaza

Atlanta, Georgia

The hotel

A statement hotel, this glass column stretches far above neighbouring high rises to give unrivalled views over Atlanta through its floor-to-ceiling windows. To top it all off, literally, it’s capped with The Sun Dial, a three-tiered venue featuring a revolving restaurant, rotating cocktail lounge, and observatory floor with 360-degree views, all reached by an external glass elevator that scales the glazed cylinder in just 85 seconds. Far below, on the 11th floor, the indoor pool’s just as spectacular, with its curved glass roof folding away to let in the sun on hot Atlanta days. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Westin Peachtree Plaza was treated to a $70 million renovation, adding extras like BikeWESTIN cycles, and turning this statuesque pillar into one of downtown Atlanta’s most up-to-date pads.

Very noisy, impossible to sleep to the night. During check-in I was asked which room would I like and I said someplace quiet. So they put me on the 50th floor far away from the elevator right across the hall from the ice machine. Yes machine has been running all night long. Every time they run the ice machine it wakes me up with a start. Granted the hotel gives you free ear plugs, apparently they know it’s too noisy here for anybody to get any sleep. It’s now 3:49 in the morning, and I guess I am up and that’s it. Avoid this place like the plague. On the buffet menu they had chicken or short ribs. I said do you have a vegetarian option. They said sure, and brought me a sweet potato. Do these people not know about vegetarians? Yes, I realize it’s the south. But do you think they could make an effort? Tried to take a shower when I arrived. The showered with no water pressure. I guess that’s what it’s like to be on the 50th floor. Tried to take an elevator to the room. Elevators are segmented some go to the 50th floor and some do not. elevator was missed labeled. It says it’s going to the 50th floor, but there is no button beyond floor 45. This place has got a lot of problems. Had a business meeting. The outlets didn’t work at the table. How to get tech-support to get the outlets to work. Tried to use the television, called the front desk to get some help. Waited half an hour. Nobody showed up. Never heard from anybody never saw anybody. Read less

On this trip, the noise level is off the charts. There are people screaming in the halls and banging on doors. The hallway to my room is littered with trash. The elevators are jam packed. I waited 10 minutes to get a car to go down, and 22 minutes to get a car up... and then it was a car that didn’t go al the way to my floor (but it was all I could get) so I then walked up several flights of stairs with all my belongings to get to my floor. I understand that some of this may be out of the hotel’s control, however, it is a deal breaker for me and is just unacceptable. Read less

We have stayed at the Westin Peachtree multiple times when traveling to AmericasMart. We have always been exceedingly pleased with our stay and service. This visit, however, was very disappointing. We booked our reservation one year in advanced. We arrived to check in at 4pm. Room wasn’t ready. Not a huge deal and not that unusual that a hotel be running behind. Really thought nothing of it, checked our bags and went to the mart and dinner. We came back to check in at 9pm. Our room was still not ready! There was a waiting room full of people waiting for their rooms! We finally got a room at 10:45pm. There were so many people waiting even after us! This market happens twice a year every year in the building attached to the hotel! The influx of guests certainly was not a surprise to the hotel! I will say that although managers were no where to be found, the front desk clerks were very courteous. We were hopeful for a smooth stay from that point forward, but we’re disappointed. Our room was never serviced before 6pm. I called down one night to ask if housekeeping would be coming because it was 6:30 and our room had not been serviced. The front desk clerk told me “we have 1164 rooms and will get to yours when we can.” I have recommended this hotel for years. Have been pleased to say here many times. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this hotel and will be very hesitant to book again. Perhaps the hotel is under new management? Read less

I am a frequent traveler and it was a pleasure to stay here during Market. I was dazzled by two Peloton bikes in the immaculate fitness center. Plenty of other equipment/up to date strength machines and foam rollers to lengthen those tight muscles from walking the show all day! Yes the bathroom is "cozy" and love the rain shower and oh those pillows! Read less
