The Westin Peachtree Plaza

Atlanta, Georgia

The hotel

A statement hotel, this glass column stretches far above neighbouring high rises to give unrivalled views over Atlanta through its floor-to-ceiling windows. To top it all off, literally, it’s capped with The Sun Dial, a three-tiered venue featuring a revolving restaurant, rotating cocktail lounge, and observatory floor with 360-degree views, all reached by an external glass elevator that scales the glazed cylinder in just 85 seconds. Far below, on the 11th floor, the indoor pool’s just as spectacular, with its curved glass roof folding away to let in the sun on hot Atlanta days. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Westin Peachtree Plaza was treated to a $70 million renovation, adding extras like BikeWESTIN cycles, and turning this statuesque pillar into one of downtown Atlanta’s most up-to-date pads.

….should you stay here. Nothing is missing, a world all inside. Beginning with the valet parking and the excellent friendly check in. We recently stayed several nights at the hotel. When it was time to check out, I called for a bellman to help with the bags. The first weekend in April we stayed at the Westin Peachtree Plaza for a tournament. The tournament requires you to 'stay to play' in order to participate. We were on the 15th floor and were shocked to find workers outside of our window. My daughter was taking a shower and walked out in a towel to see men working on our personal balcony. The rooms have floor to ceiling windows (see photos). We were not told that there would be anyone outside of our room during our stay. We had the sheer curtain closed, but the men were out there most of the weekend. We had to close the the room darkening curtains and felt captive in our room. The noise was a whole separate issue. We paid $165 plus fees and taxes ($750 for the weekend) to stay at the hotel and both my requests to move rooms were met with excuses. We told them we did not feel comfortable in our room and they still did not move us. First we were told that the workers could be anywhere there was a window, which was not true because our teammates's room did not have a balcony. We were then told that there were no room requests being honored. I feel with a hotel full of young ladies, it should have been a priority to make them feel safe in their rooms. Read less

Room hadn't been cleaned properly when I arrived. Wet stains on the coffee table and somebody's shaving foam bottle left in the shower. Called down to reception to complain and nothing done about it. The 'green' option is ridiculous. From how it was described at the front desk I assumed that bath towels, etc, would not be replaced (fine). However,… Read more

What is 'green' about not making your bed?! Read less

This hotel is ill equipped at all levels of customer service, aside from the Westin facade it holds zero of what a seasoned Westin traveller would consider customary. Staff is less than accommodating (10 pm and rooms are still not available foe checkin in), reservations incorrectly cancelled, updates not done. If they grace you with the “luck” (thats what the staff will tell you - you are lucky to get a room) its so loud they give you ear plugs on the night stand. Think twice...... Read less
